  1. I realize they have a chance, but under no circumstances can I see Tullahoma beating Siegel with all those athletes or at Lawrence County with that unstoppable running attack. The Shelbyville game could go either way, so I'm guessing Tullahoma is headed for a 4-6 or 3-7 season. Just one of those years for them, but they'll be back for sure next year ready to challenge for the district.
  2. I made it over to the Lawrence Co. and Shelbyville game last night and was very impressed with the Wildcats rushing attack behind a massive offensive line. Their kicker and special teams overall looked very, very weak, so that could haunt them at some point. Shelbyville has certainly improved as well and still can make the playoffs as a wildcard if they win out, which is a real possibility. Where in the world were all the Lawrence Co. fans? Shelbyville had it packed on their side, but it was an extremely embarrassing showing for the Wildcat fans for a team that had a four-game winning streak coming in and is playing maybe the best football ever down there. This is a town that claims to really love its team, but I guess it may be proof that it is just a basetball school. I was amazed that so few made the trip and the band did not even come! For a big district game against a longtime rival. Unexcusable for that team to not get better support, especially as good as they are this year. They deserve better down there.
  3. Columbia and Shelbyville should be a good game. Being at home and having so many athletes should be a big advantage for the Lions, but I'm not sure about their QB situation and how that will play out. Tullahoma should beat Lincoln County at home in their new stadium for their first game. I'd say that will be a tight game as well. Unlike normal years, these two teams don't have very many athletes at all this year. Should be low-scoring. Franklin County is big and physical and athletic. They will be a load for Lawrence County to handle, but being at home will be huge for the Wildcats. I'm saying the Rebels by a field goal in a great game...probably high-scoring too.
  4. I agree. They need not panic down there. They have a good football team and they've played great teams so far. But it seems there sports writer is creating a widespread panic. Read the story on t-g.com. Talking about major changes, close door meetings, etc, etc. It's ridiculous. If I was Coach, I'd be ticked that all that mess was in the local paper. That's only going to put more and more pressure on them. Forrest will play loose, but the big question is will Cascade?
  5. This should be a pretty good game. I think Jo Byrns is tougher mentally and will use their mental edge over Cascade in this one. I'm saying 28-16 Devils. Cascade is finally playing some teams this year after playing very weak schedules in years past. It may hurt them a lot early, but they'll be tougher for it when the postseason gets here. I'm sensing a fairly dangerous 6-4 or 5-5 type team in the playoffs.
  6. All Columbia, all the time. Way too much speed for Lawrence County to handle. 41-17 Lions
  7. New coach and system at Hillsboro = Victory for powerful Maplewood at home Hillsboro will be tougher as the year goes on. Early in the season, they're vulnerable to losing some games.
  8. Was that a preseason tournament? It is not listed on their schedule. Plus, they beat Riverside 13-0 in a tournament according to the schedule.
  9. Trinity scored four runs in the bottom of the 7th (I think all were scored with two outs) to win the Class A State Championship 5-4 over Forrest. What a game and what a way to get revenge from last year. Undefeated season accomplished for Trinity in the process. Congrats.
  10. Riverdale vs. Beech - Championship Game 1 is at 6:30 tonight "IF" necessary game would be tomorrow. Doubt it will be though. Beech is awesome.
  11. 1450 AM WGNS in Murfreesboro. You can listen online. Riverdale leads 2-1 in the bottom of the 6th.
  12. Riverdale and Maryville are tied 1-1 in the 4th. You can listen online to 1450 AM in Murfreesboro.
  13. It's always good to see the best two teams from the year make it to the championship game. Summertown and Riverside have been the best all season. And, please, nobody mention Cascade. Their schedule just does not compare to these two. They didn't play any 2A or 3A teams and beat up on a bunch of bad teams, but these two teams went out and played good teams and played in good tournaments. As for the game today, I'll take Summertown to win a shootout 12-9. I think they've been the best team (especially offensively) in Class A all season and I think they will prove it today. It should be a great game though. I'll be listening.
  14. I heard Jackson Christian was up 5-3 in the bottom of the fifth, but that was a little while ago.
