After Beech played Riverdale to 16-14 (and didn’t play well) I really didn’t think they were a threat. I think they showed tonight they have the ability to play with anyone in the state.
Yep. I bought into it again only for MJ to MJ. Two weeks ago I thought they had a shot to get to the quarters against Oakland. I will never believe the hype again. Lol
I think horrible or not interested would be more accurate. I hear it was quite the discussion at halftime. Seemed to be a little more intentional about things in the second half.
Flat is a very nice way to put it. Beech looked absolutely horrific coming out. Hats off to Springfield for coming out with a fury and playing 4 quarters of football.
Most people will obviously pick Southwind to win next week, but I’m not so sure. If we can both win next week we will have a rematch in round two.
I thought there would be a little more chatter this week too. Here’s what I think happens.
Gallatin wins in a close one.
Mt Juliet doesn’t recover from last week and loses two in a row.
Cookeville wins easily.
I haven’t looked at what that would do to the region standings and don’t have the capacity to do it right now.
Game day! After tonight we know how everything shakes out in the region. I pray for a safe and injury free night for both teams and look forward to seeing some of my Springfield friends.
Go Bucs!
I try to keep personal feelings out of it, but there are a couple teams I still enjoy taking the occasional shot. In this case I truly believe HC is 3+ scores better.
I’m really not sure where Tandem has been.
The short answer is NO. There are a lot of different reasons. The schedule doesn’t help, but I’m not sure they have the athletes either. The truth is you have to have exceptional athletes or exceptional coaching. Having superior of both certainly makes it more realistic and right now the road to a championship runs through Oakland and they seem to have the above formula in hand.
Not everyone… I’m not taking shots, I really just don’t think it will be close.
Springfield is down this year, but I don’t expect them to stay there. That said, the school board isn’t doing SHS athletics any favors with the MS though.
