  1. Our prayers and thoughts go out to this family.
  2. No I wish I did I would have more money and wouldn't have to work, but my theory sounds pretty good look at the Owls Mr.Smith didn't play in the Farragut game no contest. Why don't you stay on your own thread and take ihavenofreindzz with you you two are about alike.
  3. noles, I didn't say I could do better or would do better. If I did please show me where. Also I am not talking about Farragut being the only school with this issue of players not wanting to play and everything else. I am saying football is the only sport at Farragut where this is an issue. The baseball team doesn't seem to have an issue with practicing and winning. Neither does soccer. Basketball? Who knows.. But I guess there is just something about the sport of football that makes kids not want to practice, play, and try hard? It is called playing as one. You don't have any super stars or all-staters just a bunch of kids that want to play together and get the glory together. There was a few that want all the glory and I want say names but if you watch the games you could pick them out. Kids that think they are great but when it comes down to it they are average but thats ok. I would much rather have a bunch of average kids then a bunch of super stars because they think they have to have the glory all the time and a bunch of average kids just want to win and have fun and they are much easier to coach. You look at your Maryville, Alcoa, Riverdale they might have two or three guys that are super stars but when you put them in there with the average guy and get them to buy into the one look what happens. Farragut is heading in he right direction and have some good coaches coming in but there are a few that need to move on but the next new guy is headed in the right direction. To make it to the 3 round for 5 years in a row is a good thing to see alot of schools can't say that and yes there was a few State teams in those five years you just have to put your head down and keep trying.
  4. No, I'm not new to the program. Have watched them my whole life. When my brother was in high school, I remember it being the football coach who didn't want his players playing some other sports.. Like. Lacrosse.. There were several kids who played both, then coach told them they had to choose. You never answered my question though, Why is it only the football team that seems to have these issues? Also fsunoles, why is Farragut playing kids that don't want to be there? Or aren't trying? Does that make any sense to you? Maybe GQ can hold a coaching camp this spring. I'll pay for the Farragut coaches to attend. jake, I do not HAVE to be perfect 100% of the time. If I can be perfect, then I will be. Also I am not trying to find someone/something to blame because we aren't going to win state. The fact that Farragut has had championship caliber teams the last 3 years or so, and come away with 1 region championship is an issue IMO. Especially when it has come down to how they have lost in the playoffs. Yes, they have played good teams in the quarterfinals, but they have also been teams we met during the regular season. Farragut has also played alot of teams overall in the post season that they faced during the regular season.. If you didn't notice, Farragut didn't seem to fair much better the second time around. It almost seems as though they got worse each time, with the exception of Ooltewah in 2008. Farragut overall just does NOT perform when it comes down to the key moments in big games. It is that simple. You can put that on coaches or players doesn't matter. I do not know. I don't go to other schools and ask about there problems. You need to become a coach down there and ask the kids. Coach would like for you to pay for a few coaching camps for them. I can fix this whole problem with you just become the new HEAD COACH at Farragut all you problems and answer will be done.
  5. Well ihavenofriendzz you must be new to this football program. Farragut really wasn't that good till about 5 or 6 years ago they used to not even make the playoffs. They have never been #1 in the State till last year if I recall right. When I was there playing a person could play two sports and it helped alot with football and baseball but till Farraguts old baseball coach was there. If there was a baseball player that was one of his boys and he played football pretty much after his freshman year he was not playing football no more. Now I am not going to say the new guy is going to be like this but I hope not. I think a kid should do what ever he wants and let HIM make the choose. When coach became head coach he did not have alot of coaches at the school they were pretty much volunteer coaches and he had to get that approved because you could only have two volunteer coaching. I am not going to give names but when a new guy took charge over the school coach started getting coaches and coaches at the school which was about 5 or 6 years ago. I will agree with allvolfan1 about parents and starpower about some of the coaches and kids getting away with somethings. I know you are going to say well there are football players playing baseball you are right one or two when I was there you had about 10 or more and they played and not sat on the sideline either. I have probably said way to much.
  6. You can say the players need to step up all you want, but if the coaches aren't there right beside them, then it's not going to matter. I have seen plenty of games where it seems as though the coaches lay down and give up. I am glad you said this. #3 told me last year that when he got hurt that he was a soph and he didn't care if he came back because he had two more years a coach can not make a kid play the kid has to want to play. You so call coaches that seat in the stands make me sick. My oldest son played down here for four years last year being his last and watching kids come through this program not wanting to show up for workout in the off season and not want to practice in the spring and then when it is time for the fall to get here that they should start. Well to me that is not what it is about. I am up happy that Farragut has not made it to the State game but a coach can only do so much the players have to want it to. Sometimes it seem that they don't want to get to the next level. That Maryville game alot of missed tackles guys missing cover leaving guys wide open and coach cannot go out there and put them were they need to be. Yes there is some play calling that I think is not the right call but the person throwing the ball has to make the right call to throwing into double and triple cover is not a coaches call. Stop and watch the game before you start making the coach the problem. Best why don't you become a coach since you have all the answers.
  7. can we claim there was a conspiracy? Sweetland went to or coached at Maryville correct? Ihavenofriendzz do you have any idea what you are talking about or saying. I have been around this program for 24 years four of them playing and have seen Farragut with hardly any coaches at all for the freshman to the varsity and most of them were volunteer coaches which coach Courtney had to get approval for that because you can only have two. Did you ever here him complain about that no. Now he has a full staff for the freshman and varsity and look what he has done with the program. He has a pretty good coaching staff and Sweetland has done a pretty good job with the offense. When it comes to the big games the players have to standup and play the game. That is something you can not coach but hope the kids buy into it just like Maryville players have that is why they have 7 goldballs. I was very happy with the way this years team played. To be honest I didn't think they would make it as far as they did. Having to replace the whole o-line but one and the whole defense but two or three. If you are not happy ihavenofriendszz find another team to cheer for or get on the ship and shut your mouth.
  8. Our thoughts and prayer go out to Purty and his family for the lose of his mother. This a great kid and a very special football and person. Best of luck in your future. God Bless Football is a game you win some and you lose some but as long as you gave it your best and left it all on the field (and had fun doing it) you are always a winner no matter what the score board says. Just like life.
  9. The word in K-town tonight after the Farragut game that if Ooltewah lose to McMinn County Farragut will be playing Ooltewah at Ooltewah next week. Looks like that is going to happen.

  11. This years team had alot high expectation coming into this year with alot of there play makers coming back and with only one o-line starter returning. They had there o-line coach take a head coaching job in the spring and they had to get another dearing this time which I think he has done a really good with this group. Were they really took the hit this year was on the defense side of the ball were they only had two returning starters and one rotating in. If you look at last years (2008) stats on the defense side of the ball Farragut had 25 int's, 12 fumbles recovers, 21 sacks as a team. This years team (2009) 2 int's, 7 sacks, 4 fumble recovers. In 2008 the defense carried this team the last 5 games plus the 3 in the playoff. Nothing wrong with that because Farragut was a young team on offense and no matter how many points you put up you have to stop the other team. This team has alot of play makers on the field they are just a little young on the defense side of the ball you just got to step up and make plays. This group can go along way if they want to and a coach can't teach that you as a player (and a team) have to want to.
  12. Everybody talking about Maryville not being able to play with the big boys well all you have to do is go look at the schools trophy case and look at all the gold balls in there case. Maryville just didn't win thoughs by mistake. After watching last night team play and being down 24-7 most teams (good ones) just give up. I will say this years Maryville team is not like there teams in the past but I would like to see how many soph, juniors are starting on this team this year. I know they had three soph linemen and that number 2 kid which is a really good looking player for a soph. The way this coaching staff stayed with this team and made adjustments at the half was great to see and that is why Maryville can play with about anybody. They play as a TEAM and play together and that comes from good coaching which makes great teams. They might not have a one man show but they sure do have a TEAM show and thats what it takes to win games plus statechampship. Thats why Maryville has so many gold balls. P.S. This goes for Aloca to.
  13. WOW what a game last night. This is what it is all about in high school football and this is why I still come around and watch it. I was at field level last night watching this game and there was a few missed calls last night on both side of the ball. Farragut LB's was holding receiving past the 5 yard rule and not getting called on them and YES it was a block in he back just rewatch the game today on farragutfootball.com.. but you have to realize that this is a kid trying to help out his team and was just trying to do what he thought was right. (best why I can put it) I am a Farragut guy and have been for a long time. The one play that to me was big was when the Maryille QB throw the ball all away cross the field and complete with two Farragut defense guys there and missed the int plus the tackle. You have to give Maryville credit with being down 24-7 and not giving up and having there band on Farragut side of the stadium. We teach or kids to be good sportmanship I think we he to teach or fans to be more than them. To be honest with you it was amazing to watch GQ mind work on that sideline last night and even being down 24-7 along with his coaching staff and then taking the ball right down with taking about 46 seconds off the clock before halftime and scoring to make it 24-14 was the difference. Good game last night to both teams and Maryville good luck down the road and hope we see you guys again.
  14. First and foremost I want to say I am sorry to the Bearden fans, coaches, and players. From a former player and my son played at Farragut. I have played in and watch this rivalry game for many of years. I can understand having a little fun but to me this is going way over board. To vandalize there Memorial Garden is very dishearting which commemorates Bearden fallen former students- both military and civilian students. I understand that this happened to Farraguts football field a fews ago by Bearden but this does make it ok for Farragut to go and do the same. You have to show what you are made up of as a person and player on the field not by doing this.
  15. Erik has ties with Farragut High School and it is not with football he was once a great baseball player at Farragut and played on the 1988 State Runnerup team. Thanks for doing the broadcast for all the football games. Thanks starpower for the info on the freshman team. I am a little surprised by this with the class they seem to have some pretty good looking players on this team.
