  1. How are things in Fairview? Has the coaching staff been filled? What type of coaches were brought in? How are the workouts going? I was really impressed with Fairview last year as I watched them in the 1st round against Camden. A very physical bunch of boys who fired off the football. What kind of scheme will they be running on offense and defense? I don't think they could beat the Veer and Wishbone they ran last year.
  2. I have seen Camden play twice since I moved here and I can tell you they will struggle in this new region. The style of football they play will fly in West Tennessee where they run east-west and try to get the edge. But the straight ahead, north-south style of play this region will bring will be trouble for the lions. Now I think they still will be the top 3a team in the region. But they will get beat by Creekwood and Cheatham. If any team wants to compete come playoff time they better schedule some tough non-district games or it will be one and done like Camden this year.
  3. Bulletin Board Material in November for next season?? Wow your team must really need to be motivated. This district is pretty cut and dry. Vandy1, two 4a teams will get auto bids and two 3a teams will get auto bids. Those teams will be Giles and Marshall in 4a and Lewis and Fairview in 3a.
  4. If Camden thinks they are going to be "the class" of the district, they will be highly mistakened. From what I have seen these Middle Tennessee teams love to pound the ball right at you. That is Camden's glaring weakness. If they want to compete with Creekwood and Cheatham they better get away from the wing-t.
  5. The last time Waverly won in the playoffs, you were in diapers. At least Loretto has won a playoff game this century.
  6. Dickson Co. requested to be put in the Clarksville district, which made it easier for the TSSAA to accept Hillsboro's request to be put in the Williamson District. If you have a problem with it, you may need to talk to your AD and coaches.
  7. I think that the publics are catching up to the privates here in TN. Due to so many more private schools opening up. Parents have more choices to send their children. I also think the economy will start to have an effect on the privates as some parents will no longer be able to afford to send their child there. But if you look at the two results from Friday night. Goodpasture was given everything they could handle from a tough Lewis Co. team. Fairview took it to CPA and made them play ball. Even though the two private schools won, I think they have to be impressed with how competitive the publics are becoming to them.
  8. who does the weather for tonight benefit most in this game?
  9. how will the weather effect this game? who does it favor?
  10. Leave it to the TSSAA to throw some curveballs in there. Camden to Monterey 192 miles 3 hours
  11. Tennessean Article This is not finalized just a possibility from what I read.
  12. http://tssaa.org/2008Champions/StateFootba...s2A/Bracket.htm This is why there is confusion.
  13. From talking to the Camden fans the other night, it seems they have petitioned the TSSAA to go with Waverly to the new district. That would make for a extremely tough district. I am glad my Irish can move down to A to stay away from these teams. The Waverly fan that said they could of made some noise in the playoffs if they hadn't drawn Lewis Co. I am just curious on who you guys think you could have beaten.
  14. I agree with that. After seeing Fairview for the first time against Camden last week, they love to grind it out on the ground. I think it is humrous CPA fans are praying for a dry field. Its football, play in any conditions. I still see CPA being too much for Fairview. I doubted the Jackets last week, and I think I have to again. CPA will win by 2 plus TDs.
  15. Depending on how the new regions shake out this is how I see Waverly doing. Creekwood-L Cheatham Co.- L Montgomery Central- W Stewart Co.- W Fairview- L Harpeth-W Perry Co.- W Houston Co.- W Camden- L Lewis Co. - L I am not sure of their out of conference schedule but from what I gather on here this is what it may look like. Another 5-5 or 4-6 season for the Tigers.
  16. Now will people from Hickman and ddaddy agree with my evaluation of this game.
  17. Well let me say the atmosphere at Camden is great. Has friendly people, great food and a lot of sponsors. I am glad I made the trip from Erin tonight. I must say I was completely wrong on this game. From what I read I though Camden was a physical team who had a high powered offense. But what I saw tonight is how good a team the Fairview team is. My question is how is Fairview not in the Top 10 in the state if Camden is number 4. Everyone at the stadium saw that Fairview was the better team. I have a couple of questions for Camden fans. Do you guys always stay in the 4-3 defense no matter what you get? What did Fairview do that others teams didn't do on the offensive side of the ball? Looks like Camden has a great game going and a fan told me that Kim, the kicker had a really long PAT streak snapped tonight.
  18. No I have not seen them this year. But from what I have heard this is their best team in recent memory. But you have to think the lack of competition outside of region play will be a factor come the playoffs. I have heard the Panthers have always had successful regular seasons only to stumble in the playoffs.
  19. ddaddy, do some research. I see CPA and Goodpasture over the last 5 years have scheduled teams like Riverdale, Ravenwood, McGavock, Ensworth, Boyd Buchanan, BGA, MBA, Lipscomb, PJPII, and Stratford (if you would do some research you would know Startford is one of the most talented teams in the midstate just have really low numbers for a 4A school). So these teams, just like the successful ones in Missouri, understand that your regular season serves one purpose and that is to prepare you for the post season. So that is why you see theses two teams have so much success. So ddaddy, how about Lewis Co. stop accumulating 10-0 seasons, go out and play someone so you can make a run deep in the playoffs. Alos it shows your knowledge of the playoffs as Lewis and Hickman can not meet until the Quarters, when Lewis Co. wins tonight. 3 time state runner up Goodpasture will make the trip in round 2.
  20. I thank I am going to come down from Erin tonight and attend this game. I was planning to go to Stewart-Goodpasture but from what I read this will be the more competitive game. I still see Camden wearing down Fairview. I read where the fewest points Camden has scored all year is 28. I don't think Fairview can put 28 up on Camden, so that is why I am picking the Lions to move on in this one. Is it a good atmosphere in Camden?
  21. In the "flavor of the week" spread offense teams that do not run the ball well like CPA, instead use short high percentage throws (WR screens, slants quick outs) to their receivers to make up for the run game. However if you notice the past 3 games CPA has had a running game behind Mr. Mason. Hickman has not played the type of schedule CPA has played this year, so all signs are pointing toward a CPA win. Also Hickman has not seen a passing attack as good as CPA's all year and please don't say Marshall Co. (could be one of the most overrated teams in the state). Seems to me maybe you should stick with cheering on your Lewis Co. team, but maybe you are jealous that CPA has a history of making it past the 3rd round of the playoffs cause they play a tough schedule. That is why CPA and Goodpasture beat all these rural schools.
  22. Passing Roman CPA 132 completions 222 attempts 0.595 completion % 1787 yards 18 TDs 13 Ints Rushing Scott Sowell Hickman Co. 138 attempts 1081 yards 7.8 avg. 8 TDs (missed last 3 games) You would think these two will determine the outcome of the game, but CPA has the Z factor. Mr. Mason has seen an increase in carries over the last three weeks, and I look for CPA to pound it with Mason and then take it to the air when they put 8 in the box.
  23. Last 3 Games Passing for Hickman 1 for 10 30 yards 2 for 7 20 yards 3 for 6 75 yards On the season their starting QB is 19 for 63 336 yards 6 TDs and 4 Ints. So I see CPA stopping the run and making you pass and from the looks of things Hickman is not very efficent in throwing the ball around. This is a team that should be running the wing t, but from what I have heard from locals is that they moved to a spread and away from Coach Swenson system.
  24. Young man, you are mistaken me for a youngster. I just retired from football in Missouri where I was a coach for over 35 years. I will tell you my knowledge of the game is just as good as anyone's on this board. The Wing-T is a very simple offense that takes alot of practice to perfect. In the wing T you have 5 basic plays you run over and over(Jet, Buck, Trap, Scissors, and Dive). Not many wing-t teams can pass the ball, hence why they run the wing t system. The spread offense is alot more complex, especially the way CPA runs it. But you will be surprised Friday night by how Hickman Co. gets outcoached.
