  1. He torched Gibson Co. last time they played too, lol. If that game does happen, Gibson Co. will run and gun with Dyer Co., mark my words. That's how Henry Co. liked to play and we beat them with it. Not saying we'll beat Dyer Co. if we do play, but we'll try and run with ya. Oh ya, Mitchell Simpson got his first jam of his career the other night against Obion Co. A GC player drove the lane and was dribbling back out towards the corner and saw Mitchell cutting through the lane and hit him with a quick pass. I thought Mitchell was just going to lay it in, but he cocked it back and through it down hard. It was nice. rowdy, can you post the girls tournament on the girls board? It was a sweet JAM! To bad the rest of the Pioneers team dont play with that energy!
  2. LOL Ill take that bet and raise you a $100.. Have you seen GC play this year yet? I know its early, but they look the best they have in 10 years. Probably the quickest and most drilled team I've seen on the boys side at GC. Coach Harts done a great job with the boys thus far. Well see how they handle a Haywood team tomorrow night. If they get on the boards I think they will win.
  3. I will say this about Josh even though he should of kept his composure, I have been to 20 gc games this year and that is the 1st Tech I have seen him get... I know he was a terror out there on the court last season with his attitude and received many Tech's among other things, but he did a great job for Coach Hart this year. I wont even answer some comments by another former Coach at GC, no reason to aknowledge ignorance. As for the 2nd Tech, it was on Coach Hart I am told for saying something to the same grey headed ref after Ralph was bleeding all over the court and got the foul called on him. I am glad that other people are now posting on here what a great job the GC boys did this year and how much improved they are and I totally agree that things will keep getting better as GC has a very young team returning next year. Looks like the system does work when it is fully understood and time is given! HA HA HA!! The kids showed great progress all year as improvement could be seen from game to game. Good luck to all the district 13aa teams tomorrow night! Great 1st season under a new program for the GC boys!
  4. 100% correct, GC dominated this game leading from the start till the refs took over with around 3-4 min left in the 4th quarter. I counted 6 straight whistles against GC from the same ref (grey headed) that took the lead from 6 for gc to down 6 from around the 4min mark to the 2min mark. Ridiculous, GC was clearly the better prepared and better team on the floor, it is sad that that ref took the game from GC single handed. As for the Tech's, #23 for Milan did the same exact hand motion to the same ref that Josh did for GC and did not receive a Tech. The grey headed ref and the other black official was laughing about it during the ft's. Unbelievable that the TSSAA lets some of these guys call games, its ashame for the GC boys because of the great improvement that they made this season especially the last 7 games, they really came together as a team over the season. I believe that great things are gonna happen at GC next year and the years to follow, the effort and time and work ethic is being put in place for these kids to put the program at GC on the map. I also agree that the fans of Gibson County should get more involved not only for the boys, but for the girls as well. I will say though, the turnout has been far greater this year than previous years so maybe it will just take time. Keep your head up and work hard this spring and summer as it will pay off, I know Coach Hart will demand alot from you. Great year!! but just the start!!!! GO GC!!!
  5. I guess any high school could have a good team if they were able to get some of the best players from all around west tennessee!
  6. I just wanted to congratulate the Gibson County Boys Basketball Team on having a great start to the 2008-2009 basketball season. 6-4 and 2-1 in the district. I was impressed with the defensive performance the team showed vs. Bradford in the Christmas tournament. And before everyone starts saying but its Bradford, (no dis-respect Bradford) the 29pts that the team gave up was the best defensive performance that I can find on record since the 2001 season. I hope the Team continues learning from Coach Hart and putting forth the effort on the defensive end and continue their progress for the remainder of the season and finish up strong in the District! Another thing also, I know alot of people from Gibson County look at this web-site and I can say that the crowd for the boys games are 200% better than last year and years in the past, but the community can still do so much better to come out and support this boys team and really GET INTO the games. These guys deserve your support!! Congrats guys!! Go Pioneers!!!!
  7. Ced had a bad attitude the time I saw him play as well, very disrespectful. Wonder if the Hudson kid and Simpso kid from GC will match up and battle again like they did in middle school.
  8. lol, Is that Cedric from DC? Dont know his last name. Mesagna and Reaves can play with him. They are both better than him when they come ready to play. Stickin with GC by 3pts. Should be a good game if both teams come ready to compete.
  9. Should be a great game Tuesday night, GC is very much improved under New Head Coach Michael Hart. Big win this past friday on the road for GC over Obion which puts them 2-0 in the district and 5 wins already on the young season. Hope for a good game between the 2 teams. I got to go with my guys GC by 3pts.
  10. Yeah I believe there are a few players that havent played since they were freshmen or even at all. Roach, Eskew and Higgs. Thats good that alot of the best ball players at GC that werent playing are coming out again and joining the other guys. This team is young and inexperienced besides Ralph and Josh, they should really improve in the next year and after. Keep up the good work Pioneers. Lets Go GC!!!!
  11. When I got to the jv game GC was ahead late in the 3rd quarter, ended up losing by 8pts. The kid that starts for Humboldt got several reb and put them in in the 4th to push Humboldt over the top. I'm just saying GC's jv looks very tuff, they were aggresive and played hard and for them to compete with Humboldt who's playing a starter from their varsity team is pretty impressive to me. That hasnt happened alot at GC for a boys team to compete much with a team like Humboldt. Afterall, Humboldt is supposed to have superior athletes and talent. LOL! Someone at the game said that was GC's 1st Jv loss of the season, think they had played 3 games so far. If you dont believe me, I believe they have a JV game at home vs. Crocket County on Monday at GC so come and watch them, Coach Hart has them playing hard and it looks like he has alot to work with there. I dont know any of those guys names cause not many of them get to play on Varsity, maybe someone can name a few of them and let us know if there is a JV game Monday at GC for sure.
  12. GC by 8pts. They will have to face a zone though, Obion cant match up with GC man to man.
  13. Let me ask this question while were talking bout Humboldt basketball. Why does Humboldt have the most talent and best athletes in the state and never can win a state title? Think they won 1 back in the 70's? Sounds to me like they choke up when it comes to crunch time. Anyway, Humboldt is very talented and clearly had the better athletes and team in last nights game, but was by no means a 40 pt game as the score said. Humboldt pressed and left their starters in from start to finish. Gibson County was even playing freshmen and sophomores in the 3rd and 4th vs Humboldts starters. Humboldt should win by at least 40 with 7 seniors and 3 or 4 guys over 6'5". I was told by several Humboldt people that GC played them the toughest of any game so far this year. After the 1st quarter GC held their own. Think GC had a little nerves with all of their young and inexperienced players. Hats off to Humboldt though the guys can really play. I think they beat UC and LC by 40 at home also if they play like they did last night. I will say this though, I would watch out for GC if I was Humboldt in the next few years, I watchd part of the JV game with GC and Humboldt and GC's JV squad looks very tough! Big District game vs. Obion at Obion Friday, play hard GC and go 2-0 in the district!
  14. Another win for the Pioneer Boys last night vs. Trenton. So much for rivalry games, a very un-emotional game by both teams. Game and the enviornment just seemed dead! Reaves kid for GC played well again. That improves the Pioneers to 5-3 or 5-1? Question? Why do some people count Hall of Fame Games on the record and some dont? Pioneers are 5-3 with HOF and 5-1 without HOF? Gonna be a tuff one Monday night at Humboldt, I hope the Pioneers come out playing hard and good attitudes and play with a very talented Vikings team. Great start to the Pioneers for this season! GO PIONEERS!!!
  15. After seeing Hudson play for DC tonight and watching Mitchell Simpson from GC play in 2 scrimmages, Simpson is by far the better athlete as well as basketball player now. I thought the opposite when they were in middle school, but Simpson has gotten a lot better since being at GC. I think he could be really good if he keeps staying out of trouble and I have heard nothing but good things about him. Too bad the Hudson boy didnt stay at GC, him and Simpson with some of the other underclassmen at GC could of really done some damage for 4 years.
