  1. I would think he would happily give those up to be the HC of the high school baseball program wouldn't you? Then he is only coaching one sport year around instead of the 3 sports and could concentrate even more on player development within the baseball program, yes?
  2. WOW....how is Lambert not a shoe in.....HC experience??? just because you carry the name assistant does not mean you haven't carried the roll of HC and have the experience of one as well....should be Lambert hands down.
  3. Unfortunately the kids are the ones suffering....except for those leaving for c-range....
  4. Every story has two sides, so i guess no one really knows unless your in the meeting behind close doors. My understanding is that she was ask to step down, and then they hired from within, whom was ask to step down as well.
  5. YAI hired Coach Tonya Storie, she was a previous coach there before.
  6. who is the AD or who would you contact to inquire about this job
  7. If someone was interested in applying, whom would they need to contact. Had trouble finding an athletic director listed for Henry County High School.
  8. I believe the teams are Maryville, William Blount, Fulton, Siegel, McMinn County, Oak Ridge, Boyd County (KY), and Brainerd. Looks to be a very competitive line up for the tournament.
  9. Anyone got any details about a Christmas Tournament that is being held at Maryville High School this year?
  10. The last time that I am aware that the Dragons were in the SubState were 1991 and 1994.
  11. Thank you Rocking Chair for agreeing with my initial points. The program and the kids are the ones suffering and when does this whole mess come to an end, when will someone step up to the plate and stop all this nonsense with coaches. Again, you are correct that it starts at the top, who has them bulleyed that the ones at the top will not put a stop to it, or do they just not care and as long as there is a coach in place, that's one thing less on their plate? If you are York people, we must come together young and old and stop the madness.
  12. Actions speak a lot louder than words when it comes to the administration. What is it now, four new basketball coaches in 4 years, winningham, wright, last years coach, and now wright again...come on, can you really say that is what is best for the athletes. I would agree with you on the fact that most negative post not just here but all of them come from people that does not get their way and b/c of that they don't like the coach, so good point. I agree also with the fact that you can't be to careful about who you hire when it comes to monitoring kids, but there are good people outside of j-town that could and would do a great job, change is hard for everyone involved, but sometimes it is needed and change is never pretty or easy, otherwise there would not be change. As far as someone being "passed over" for a job, sounds like you might have an inside track on that one maybe you would not care to elaborate, or maybe you are one of the scared ones. As far as a York fan, a true fan will want what is truly best for everyone, the ones that have "unconditional support" are what I would call a "Yes" man, just goes along with whomever is in charge and not able to think for themselves.
  13. Did not mean to hit a nerve, just seems as though there are a few that are running the show and everyone else has to go with the decisions being made (their bluff)...according to the posts that are being made and the disgruntled fans on both the basketball and football posts. Those that are scared, might not actually be scared (community and those who actually care about the student body), they just don't have enough voice in making the best decisions for the students of York Institutue.
  14. There is money within the school to hire a coach and possibly bring someone with him, the problem is that you have some people that are getting paid for dual duties just to collect a pay check instead of looking out for the best interest of the student body. First of all, there is no support of the students by the administration b/c if there were, they would not allow for the basketball situation to have taken place, Derwin in, Derwin out, Derwin in. Second of all, if the administration and the community want what is best, the will call the bluff of those who have everyone scared, and they will hire someone of quality (inside or outside) the system and they are going to have to free up some money to get a quality person in there. Add the title of athletic director or dean of students to the head coach and give him more money and let him only coach one sport. Have no beef with anyone, just think that there are ways to make these teams competitive year in and year out, but when does it stop, and if it does not stop, then people will have to continue to accept mediocrity and those that will not accept it, will move to Clarkrange.
  15. I agree totally, see topic "District 4AAA atmosphere". It is a joke and this is exactly the kind of apathy and attitude that you have in a tourist town. MOST everyone is laid back and just come and go as they please, except for the ones that have close ties to athletic programs, like parents, grandparents, coaches, and players. I can totally understand the Sevier Co. coaches wanting to have the tournament at their sight. It was there turn and you always want to play at home instead of on the road. Unfortunately, no one else gives a hoot, and they don't care what kind of impression is made...to bad for their own kids, of course they don't understand that.
  16. I would agree that it is not really that far, but even if part of the tournament was held at higher seeds, you might have the guru's that just love the game come for the game instead of just parents of players. And that is my whole point, there is no tournament feel.
  17. if one team had to travel (lower seed) and the other team did not (higher seed) then expenses would be cut in half, and would still have a better gate, at least from the home team. When you have two bottom of the barrel teams traveling an hour away, only parents are going to travel along with cheerleaders (another expense). Whereas, if only one team travels, at least the home team will bring a descent crowd. Let's say sevier county traveled to lenoir city, or vice versa, both home teams would have had a bigger crowd than the william blount and heritage crowd combined. Eventually, what you commented on is going to happen, all games being played at the higher seed until the semi's and finals. The hospitality room is a non-factor, but it would sure be nice to be able to feed those coaches that don't really have the time to eat or are out late because of games and the staff members that are having to spend their time at ball games when they could be with their families. IMHO, I think that presentation is everything, you might have college coaches come in and recruit, you might have TSSAA reps in the gym, just thought it would be a nice gesture, and didn't think that it would be that hard with all the restuarants in SC. No worries mate...
  18. Just feel like if you are going to be the "host" then it should be done right, not mediocure. No, your satellite games should be set for the play-in games and maybe even the first round to have a bigger gates. Take your semi-finals, consilation game, and championship games to the sight that it is suppose to be played at. Plus it allows for the higher seed to have an advantage, that is the reason for the seeding right, this is why we play the game, other wise lets just throw names in a hat and let the draw to see who they play. it is not just about fans traveling, it is about using common sense for "ALL" the athletes and "ALL" the schools. Students still have to go to school and schools still have to spend money to travel, just think that it would help the respective schools, plus it would help the district as a whole make more money instead of schools have to pay money to the district in the end.
  19. I would agree and disagree with you. First of all, you are correct it is not Sevier Co. fault b/c of the following of the teams, it is the coaches fault for allowing it to happen. There are other districts playing satellite games in east tn. I would however, promise you that there would be more people at the games if they did not have to travel an hour to play, where they could have traveled 10 minutes (I am sure both coaches would have preferred to not travel an hour) and the gate would have been much better. No there is not going to be the following like a Bearden, Farragut, or even Sevier, but it is no fun when schools have to pay instead of recieve money to cover expenses at the end of the tourn. I suppose you have 1st round home games, if you usually have to play it on the road, the higher seed has earned it, and let's remember we (the district) don't want to lose money. I find it interesting you did not address the issue of the hospitality room and the issue of not putting forth the effort to do it right
  20. I understand this to be tournament time in high school basketball. it was more like a funeral at Sevier County High School last night. Two teams playing in a play-in game and both teams from a the same county, and neither from sevier county. Why not play that game at the higher seeds home where it can have a more tournament like atmosphere and the gate would be better, helping the whole district and also helping each team with expenses. I also understand that for a town that has more tourism in the state of TN, the hospitality room is aweful, hot dogs on the opening night and cold pizza the next. If your school wants to host it or it is their turn, at least put enough effort into it to do it right.
