  1. Please let me know what you think I've embellished? I think I've pretty much pointed out facts. But, we do agree on one thing... lots of people are sending their kids - especially the athletes - to other schools!
  2. By "from Lipscomb" I meant they are Lipscomb guys - not from California and not brought in by the University president. Most of the coaches were there before the university president and the new headmaster. And, most coached with the former head coach. Having said that, it's been 8 years since Lipscomb made a deep run in the playoffs. Region coach of the year, while nice, Is really irrelevant. When is the last time they have even sniffed a gold ball like they used to contend for about every year? Those "3 straight pretty good classes" didn't come close. Now they won't come close to even a .500 season. So, yes, I'll stand by my "second tier coaches" comments. The offense they run is about as creative as piece of dry white toast. They don't win the games they used to and they don't attract the players like they used to. I'm sure the Lipscomb faithful hope the new facility starts reversing that trend, but you have to wonder if it's too late.
  3. So a university president is making the high school coach run an antiquated offense and hiring second tier coaches? I'm not buying that. The Headmaster, AD, head football coach, every single football assistant (and while we're at it, the head boy's and girl's basketball coaches) are all "from Lipscomb" and that entire athletic program is a only a shell of what it once was. It used to be fun to play Lipscomb because they were good. Heck, they even kicked our butts several times over the years. Now, it's just sad, really.
  4. What about the first 4 games? Ensworth is understandable (losing to them, not scheduling them!), but FRA? Columbia Academy?
  5. What's going on over at Lipscomb? 0-5 on the season. Can't remember the last time that happenedl, if ever.
  6. Middle Tennessee Christian going D-II. Official announcement from the school this afternoon.
  7. Word on the street has Lipscomb and MTCS both going D-II. However, Lipscomb is, if anything, unpredictable. So, I'd wait to see it etched in stone before I took it to heart.
  8. Style? Most that know me say I have none. There's plenty of proof for them that really want to see it. Them that don't, won't.
  9. "Real" transfers probably don't live in a booster's condo during the week and drive back to their real home on the weekend. "Real" transfers probably don't get kicked out of other schools, shop around, and end up on glorified AAU teams called the Lions. "Real" transfers probably don't come from out of state, stay and year or two, and then leave for even bigger, more successful basketball factories. "Real" transfers parents aren't "hired" for the brief period of time their superstar child is in school and then "retire." "Real" transfers probably aren't kids who can't afford to go to D-II schools with aid but somehow magically have enough to attend a non-aid offering D-I school. This year's team was full of home grown kids and "real" transfers. And, this year, as much as I don't like admitting it because I don't like his antics or his tactics, the coach showed he can coach. Kudos to him and his team. Just wish some fans and some administrators would take the blinders off.
  10. OK guys, quit playing. Joke's over. The mighty Rockets really won by a hunnerd 'n twelve right? I mean, these are the Rockets! They never lose in their own minds. Their all-knowing posse already crowned 'em kings, right? Ain't that the Truth? They only lost this season because everybody was out to get those poor boys. Had to be the refs. Or, or maybe it's Ebola. That's it, there's a mean strain of Ebola over in Chaple Hill. Cause ain't no way the mighty Rockets could fizzle and actually lose to a better team. Never! Almost feel sorry for those boys... They have to live with those fans for a looooong offseason. Now THAT'S the Truth.
  11. No schools in TSSAA - public or private - can legally recruit. Recruiting athletes for athletics is illegal. Period. Only difference is D2 privates can offer need-based aid to athletes. I'm not saying recruiting doesn't happen. Just saying it's not legal for any school.
  12. Press conference this Friday at 3:30 at the school. New coach will be introduced.
  13. Right, but what if 1 and 2 tied with the same regular season district record. How would 1 and 2 be determined for the tournament? From the replies, sounds like each district makes its own rules for the tiebreak.
  14. Does anyone know - or know where someone can find - the TSSAA policy on breaking a tie for district tournament seeding purposes? Checked the TSSAA website but could not find anything.
  15. Lipscomb always plays with heart and emotion won't get you to 3-0. They finally have the skill players in the right positions (especially QB) and they're running an offense that wins.
  16. Heard this week Allsmiller and former CPA player Spann heading north of the border (as in Canada) to play senior season. Any truth to this?
  17. Lipscomb may hire a high school coach, but it won't be Maddux. If it's a high school coach, look for it to be a former Bison who is more successful than Maddux. However, the smart money is on a college assistant and former Bison - there are lots of them out there. Whatever the case, it won't be Maddux. Book it.
  18. So if that's the reason, why are they going to CPA? Unless they want to learn to be whining, classless, chest bumping punks like Maddux. Oh, wait. Yes, that does describe them pretty well. The only thing he does well is illegally recruit - oh, and get jobs for parents of great players. Coach well? No way. Look at the talent he has "developed" (wink, wink) over the years. Mason, Miller, Anderson, Bradshaw, Lindsey, Allsmiller, and now Wharton - and the grand total number of championships? Zero. Zip. Zilch. Nada. He can't coach his way out of a wet paper bag. His "homegrown superior talent" (wink, wink) makes him look much, much better than he is. My humble opinion.
  19. Hey, Einstein, ever heard of sarcasm?
  20. I can't speak for Maplewood but all of the Cheater's Prosper Academy folks are helping all of their starters fill out the paperwork to transfer BACK to the schools they all went to last year! :roflol:
  21. And Cheaters Prosper Academy has no business being in Div. I!
  22. The poster who wondered aloud how good Lipscomb is this year asks the right question. This is not the same DL - at least not yet. Lipscomb's coach always seems to get more with less, but this year could be a real challenge. In the Overton Jamboree their defense looked slow. The Tennesseean picked Pearl Cohn to go to the 3A state title game but finish behind DL (1st) and Maplewood (2nd) in 10AA. No way DL is that good. Maybe they get better, but not right now.
  23. What a ridiculous post. First of all, everyone knows you are bitter that your daughter, who graduated last year, wasn't the superstar you thought she was. Good player but it wasn't the coach's fault she wasn't the second coming of Candice Parker. Second, I am told you only came to ONE Lipscomb game all season and that you were not at the most recent DL/CPA game. Not exactly authoritative research. If you had been there you would have seen DL's team play their hearts out and DL's coaches coach a great game. Look at the stats of the DL/ Sycamore game for another example. DL's game plan totally shut down Sycamore - a team ranked right behind CPA all season. Third, CPA had at least 4 players taller than any DL starter. DL had no size this year. I guess that's due to the coach coaching baseball, too. CPA had more talent than DL this year, but DL gave them fits in some great games. Let it go. Your daughter's in college now. Get a hobby.
