Anbody think Scott Smith's resignation at Science Hill and the Ezell opening have anything to do with each other? He had success there once with the current principal on his staff. I know he went to greener pastures, but he had success there and maybe he wants to recreate some of that. Just a thought, it probably won't happen, but Ezell fans should hope it does!

Coach Perry does love a challenge, and money always makes any challenge nicer. I find it hard to believe that he will leave MJ since he is getting really close to hanging up the whistle. All that aside, as a coach, I'd like for my kids to sleep in the weight room if I knew it would make them stronger. It is a disadvantage for the WilCo schools if other districts are spending more time in the weight room.

Personally, being in Middle Tn, I haven't heard of these guys. Are any of them getting looks from D1 programs? D2? I know Reid Gurchiek at Mount Juliet is getting some D2 looks and even some small D1's (Western KY). He's a heck of a QB and an even better LB. He isn't in East Tn but he is a godd player, too bad they lost in round 1, more people should have seen him play.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY runs a better stregnth and conditioning program than Roger Perry. I know from experience. You can't throw MJ into your argument. I am sure all the WilCo coaches would love to lift during PE, but Perry will make sure his guys lift, even if it's at the crack of dawn.

There used to be a Pizza Buffet out Highway 70 past the Doodle near the old Drive In. They had mighty fine pizza and some good frosty pictures of adult beverages. It was about 15 minutes out of town, but worth the drive.

I heard Beech had three or four guys that are considering going Pro and/or retiring from football once they win State since their careers would basically be fulfilled. A Hendersonville area paper is reporting that Parcells, Bellichek, Holmgren, and even Tom Landry were seen at or near Shackle Island this week. Columbia needs to stay on the porch, the Titans couldn't even give Beech a game.

We don't need any excuses. We know that we aren't very good. However, when you are the smallest school in your classification you would love to see a reclassification. Don't even try and say you wouldn't want to go down a level if your team was struggling.

Plus we are loosing a whole lot more than the two kids you just mentioned. likes of zach woods, tj bostic, trey napier just for a example. I guess they are losing more than just a couple of players. However, Woods had nagging injuries all year and was never full speed. Bostic received alot of personal foul penalities with his quick temper, but was a tremendous player. Napier was also out a while with a leg injury and returned just this year to play after a two year absence. Of all the Seniors, Kirkham and Kizer were the two constants. The entire senior class will be missed. Their efforts this year and their never say die attitudes are something to build upon for the furture. I look forward to the coming years for PHS. Granted we will continue to lose some games until the talent returns, but they are making strides in the right direction. I think the 0 for the season days are behind us.

No doubt it will be tough. I just don't see them going 0 and 9 or 0 and 10 after this season. It might be wishful thinking, but I'm ok with that!

Where they in 4A from 2005 to 2008 Yes they have been 4A during those years. I think Portland will be tougher next year. They will have more time with their OC. I think a full offseason with no turmoil will help. The only major contributors they loose are Kirkham and Kizer. I think a returning QB, OC, and many other key parts sets the Panthers up for more success in the near future. They aren't going to state, but they should start winning. I predict tonight to be a shoot-out, Panthers 42, WC 38. Sorry to hear about Coach Aric. We will take him as an assistant in Portland any day of the week.

Is that Thunder00 or Jonny Ringo? Jonny Ringo, you're no daisy at all. Coach Kelly is an admirable man and a heck of a coach. I know that whenever you played the Eagles you better get ready for 4 quarters and a street fight. They were never the most athletic bunch, but they'd bring snot bubbles if you didn't man up. I remeber that big ol Breedlove kid in the mid 90's was a beast. Is Coach White leaving the HS too. I heard he was just coaching the MS next year.

Why don't ya'll just meet somewhere on Long Creek and duke it out? It sure would be nice to get all your useless comments off here. This search is taking too long. We need a coach and we need him yesterday. If we want to get out of the hole we are in it's gonna take hard work and community support. I'd like to see everyone quit bellyaching about the past and set their minds to fixing the future. I think we need a community forum for everyone to come out of the shadows and speak their mind. Get it all out on the table, shift through the bull, and start new with everyone giving the program the proper backing. If we want to be successful we need to change as a whole community!

Gary Sanders is a first class man that has his priorities straight. He said that he wants to instill a family atmosphere on the team. He is reaching out to the community. He has been a family man since the age 19. He has already expressed interest in the players at the middle school. He desires that every player feel like they are a part of the team. He is doing the right things to be successful. Nobody knows how well the man will do as the coach. However, he has the right ideas to move him forward. My agenda on here would be to ask Portland fans to give him time and watch to see the differences in his team. It will NOT be an overnight turn around. Let the man do what he believes and you will see success, get in the way and we'll be talking about a new coach three years from now. He deserves our support, the players deserve our support.
