  1. I'm not from Hendersonville, but they really looked strong. Good kids in all weight classes. I think they could be the team to give Clarksville a run this year.
  2. Most definitely. That whole family has has a difficult year of trials. My prayers are for the entire family.
  3. Sounds like you have the latest info. on Rakim. I talked with him about a month ago and he told me he would wrestle 171lb. Guess he's changed his mind since then. I'm with you in that I think he still will be good at 189.
  4. /Turn out was good I thought. Several coaches, alumni, and local people with wrestling interest. I think more than 40 attended the social afterwards.
  5. Rakim Talley of Dickson will wrestle at 171 not 189. Not sure if he'll be 1 or 2, but will definitely be in the mix of things.
  6. Good luck with that prediction at 125lb. Lewis is still the man to beat by far!!
  7. Question...Can an single wrestler attend these preseason tournaments....does he have to represent a particular team?? Have a HS kid who just wants to wrestle.
  8. Does anyone know the starting times for reg7 on Fri and Sat.???
  9. Round 1 Bradley Ravenwood Science Hill Mt. Juliet Cleveland Franklin Colliersville Cookeville (We've wrestled both and think this will be close either way) Round 2 Bradley Science Hill Cleveland Cookeville Round 3 Bradley Cleveland Champion Bradley Just doing D1 and I don't know enough about D2
  10. If people want to debate D1 vs D2, please start a new post. The debate takes away from the fun and intentions of this post.....just my opinion.
  11. Coach Mick and Creekwood wrestlers!!!!!!!! Best of luck to you guys this weekend. You have had to overcome so much adversity this season, that I can't imagine how strong it has and is making you. Best wishes, Wrestlersdad!!
  12. I would like to compliment whomever the tournament organizers were this year. Last year the was a lot of coachT complaints about the FR kids getting all or most of their prelim. matches in front of the FR crowd. RF roping off a reserved section last year didn't sit well with a lot of people, which frankly I had to agree with after these things were pointed out to me by wrestlers, not parents or coaches. This year, none of that took place, and I thought a great showing of integrity on FR part to make the tournament not to seem so much like a home field advantage. Their kids wrestled randomly on various mats like all the other schools as best as I could tell, and they didn't rope off a reserved section. FR fans knew were the finals were going to be, and tended to congregate in that area, but it was not reserved. The only negative thing, from my perspective was all the FR fans sitting is the aisles in front of the finals mat. It was so bad, there wasn't even an aisle, and people would not move and try to find a seat like everyone else, when there were seats available. I felt it rude and inconsiderate, and a tremendous safety issue that hopefully will be addressed by next year. In the vast scheme of the tournament it's a small issue in my mind, and I thought the tournament organizers made a great improvement over last years tournament. In addition, I thought they did a great job of compressing the tournament into one day due to the weather. Most definitely a a long day, but I think FR did a great job given the difficult task associated with the weather. Good Job FR
  13. Who is he and what region ? The one that graduated from Fadder Rine. Kiki11, I've had my issues of Father Ryan in the past. Your ATTEMPT at being cute with the Fadder Rine and from a different post Fatter Rine are less than impressive. Although I have disagreed with calls (I think from probably most every ref.), I REFUSE to believe ANY of the TN ref's make them on purpose (and I have to believe I didn't see things as they were because I was a biased dad or parent of a particular team). Please crawl back in your hole.
  14. When did Woods major Shepard and Heithcock win against Chancey Wilson? Those seem pretty hard to believe. Austin Heithcock beat Chancey Wilson 4-0 at the Antioch preseason tourney, and Austin Woods majored Greg Shepard at a preseason tourney, i cant think of the name of it for the life of me, but the score was 10-2. And neither of those are really hard to believe. Woods beat Shepherd fair and square. Your score not even close. Not a maj. From your quote, I find it hard to believe you were even there. Those boys fought hard to the end, and Woods came out on top. I've read your rambling on 5-7 posts always noting the "major thing". On that day, Woods was the better wrestler. Again, fair and square. I have a video tape if you'd like to see!
  15. I agree with maj with respect to double elimination at state. Every tournament all year long is double elimination. Why change the format at state. The kids are used to one policy all year long, and then the rules change at state. I remember our first state experience was very confusing.
  16. Love this topic at this time of year. Greatly appreciate reading Merry Christmas instead of Happy Holidays. There's too much political correctness in our world today. Whatever your particular religion is, I am not offended. As for me and my house we serve the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, I wish you a Merry Christmas!! ( a couple days late as as been off line). Looking forward to some good wrestling the 2nd half of the season.
  17. While I don't see a top to bottom stacked team , there will be very good wrestlers in each weight class and this is just the athletes I am familiar with from Tennessee. The out of state teams will no doubt field some talented wrestlers as well. Perhaps we should wait until after the tournament to see if your 2 day old coach T membership and the handfull of JV matches you likely wrestled prior to quitting the team qualifies you to rank the competition as " poor ". I'd wager all the guys still wrestling in the semis ( maybe the quarters ) will be the real deal and most will be heading to states later in the season. Good post maj. I don't support dogging any of these kids. They ALL work hard at their sport. Whether they are successful is not important. They work hard, and don't deserve to be discredited for their effort and hard work.
  18. First off, I wasn't at the Harpeth tournament as we were at the Ooltawah tournament. Possible bad calls is not an issue for me, as it happens with every sport....football, baseball, basketball, etc. You people crying in your cheerios, should get over it and move on. I find it interesting that almost all the negative comments toward officiating and mostly Mr. Gannon are coming from first time posters. Knuckles1975, jrichards, roxgirl, wrestlefann55 whom just joined Sun 6, 2009 the day after the tournament, and afan2 just joined in sept. of 2009. Your first time posting like you have won't win you many friends here on coacht, and most people will give your comments little credit for making your coacht debut the way you have. Mr. Gannon is a very professional ref. and I will not ever believe he intentionally makes calls based on bias toward a team or individual wrestler. He is a fine ref.
  19. I tend to only keep up with my kids on specifics. Don't know the names of the Brentwood kids they wrestled. Greg Shepherd tech. fall at 130; Ryan lost a good match 10-8 at 135. It was an exciting night, coming down to the last match....last seconds of 3rd period. Talk about a fun night!!!!!!
  20. With respect to Ryan Shepherd, he will neither be 112 or 119. I've kept quiet chuckling at some of the speculation on him. He grew a lot over the summer. He is currently wrestling at 135. After his weight reduction plan is complete he should be at 130lb. He probably could have wrestled at 125lb, but because of Greg heading to that weight with his reduction plan, he's not going to attempt it.
