That is pretty sad if in fact true....insecure officials probably need to find something else to do with their time.

Went to game. Carter looked relaxed and hit everything in beginning.....Catholic looked tight and tenative. KCHS coaches were screaming at players from the outset and looked like panic set in....Coach Buell pretty calm. Looked a lot like CAK game w/Irish and Webb game. Congratulations to the Hornets....you outplayed and outcoached the Irish. Only negative was the peculiar cheer after the game by Carter pointing to the scoreboard.....a little lack of class (if I understood the cheer correctly). Good luck Tue.

You almost have to give MVP to player(s) of team(s) that win District unless someone from 2nd place team is off the chart scoring machine. You could argue that Naylor on last place CAK was actually most valuable...... to his team.....without him they really get blown out. Catholic and Stone are pretty balanced and hard to say who's mvp night in and night out. Probably that's why they are at top of the heap. The Warriors just might get that first district win tonight....should be a barn burner!

Is kind of funny on these whinning about the ref posts. I rarely see anything, if ever, from a team, coach or supporter that says "yea, we got a ton of calls that helped us win." I am sure that the Grace Rams have had some close games over the years that they were the benificiary of some favorable calls. Sad thing is the kids read these posts (I am sure by parents of players at times) and feel they have validated excuses. Bad calls happen in all sports....everywhere. Grace should not have been down by 11!

Don't know for sure but I believe each District releases after selection....I do not believe there is one place to get them all. How are the selections made? Is it straight secret voting by coaches or do they discuss and come to a mutual agreement? You won the district so you get MVP and x # of spots?

Will CAK play Kingston? Who would be the favorite in that one? I thought Catholic might be tight at Loudon w/ District on the line.....looks like they played well? Good luck to all.

Box score shows that Rorex did not score?? Great job! You shut him down and keep Cross reasonably in check then the Mavs struggle. Two points in second qtr? Fortunate to win w/that offensive output. Did AC have a Scott loss hangover? Nice win for the Irish. CAK up on Scott by 6 at half....couldn't close the deal. The Improving Warriors are my sleeper pick for the tourney!

CAK struggled to even get ball up court in first game and Catholic seemed to play a much more aggressive style at both ends. CAK did do some different things (got Naylor the ball off screens better....Keck more involved) and played with more confidence but was that all? Is Branch still struggling with injury? Bodewig, Whidmer? Good luck as well...tournament should be a lot of fun. Maybe the Warriors can pull the upset and make Region! Good luck with AC.

Always going to be unhappy folks with every situation regardless of wins and losses. Bearden's Blevins has been lightning rod for years for pro and con camps. Ultimately you have to win, granted......I just think you also have to look at how kids progress in a program, character of coaching staff, and quality of experience for the kids. I think Darden has that covered. You cannot control/recruit (well, perhaps Webb can!) talent to a school.

Enough said. Lost to Catholic by 37 in January and came within an inch last night of getting first district win....thought they played hard and never gave up. Great job!

ScottA11.....I do not believe anyone has said KC is selfish this year.....on the contrary they probably have more assists than at anytime in years. At the risk of reigniting the ire of HappyHour22......I mentioned past years. Nick Williams, Tony Fox, Parton, Conaty, et al....all good players but had a propensity to shoot their teamates right out of games at times On CAK.....loss to KC was worst of year so i expect improvement from them this week. Talent level is rarely what KC has but Coach Darden always has them playing hard.....almost upset KC last year. How was officiating overall up on the Plateau??

See note from ScottA11....."Last year when Catholic went to Stone they called 3 techs on the bench and ejected the head coach for a player looking at a ref, a coach holding his arms up and another coach laughing". Now that must have interesting.....wonder how many techs Stone had? Just seems in Knoxville and immediate surrounding area, officials are less inclined to get caught up in home crowd, who's playing etc. Get out in the hinterlands and it can sure get interesting for visiting teams especially those "big city schools"!!

Hmm....would one of those reasons be the plateau based officiating crews that often show up there?? CAK lost to AC by 26 and to Stone by 9.......give Stone a 15 point advantage for playing with their officials at home = AC by 2 (in overtime)!!

Wow....hands down? I have watched them play for years and Catholic has always been a me team. Last year looked like the most selfish ever.....looked awful at tournament time. The times I have seen them this year they at least look like a team. Passing and sharing has never been the hallmark of KCHS.....I guess bame it on coaching (both on the bench and in the stands!!). KCHS looks closer to the typical Stone Memorial disciplined approach this year which will probably serve them well if they stick to it. It won't matter in two years.....those young Warriors will share the rock all the way to the district title! Good luck to all the 4AA teams the rest of the way....should be interesting. What's the status of Catholic's Branch??

What was wrong with Catholic's guard Branch? He only played a couple of minutes.

We picked right game to go to (instead of Bearden/Farragut). Seemed to me Webb's guards were plenty quick.....too quick for Catholic and wore the Irish out. Lot's of open looks for the Spartans.

Having seen them both play (both beat Warriors), I believe Catholic has more weapons and are more athletic. Webb plays more within themselves and won't keep jacking up the long ball if it is not going in.....KCHS has history of long range shooting regardless if it is working or not. Catholic does move the ball around better than they have in a long time. They have ability to blow Webb out but I do not believe that will be the case.....seems like it is always close. No predictions here. Good luck to both! Too bad Bearden/Farragut tonight as well.....tough decision on which game to go watch. Surely the Admirals will give them more of a game this time.
