  1. I am not a Gibson County fan but see them and others play often as I love sports. If you look at my past posts, I generally do not make statements like I am fixing to............... GIBSON COUNTY GIRLS WILL NOT LOSE ANOTHER GAME. Not trying to discount the others, but these girls are the whole enchilada!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. First of all, congrats to GC for securing another District win. Well deserved!!! As far as the OC vs. Haywood game, not surprised really. I often wonder why high school sports seem to have unwritten rules that differ from sports on other levels. I am referring to the OC vs. Haywood game. If we all recall, we witnessed the Indianapolis Colts this year sit starters and give up a perfect season only to fall short of the main prize. But in the Colt's coaching staff's eyes, this was the best route for them to get to the Superbowl. That part worked. I am not sure if the OC coach threw this game, but if he did, should he be faulted for doing what he was hired to do and that is to get to the 'boro' any way he sees fit. Sure it may backfire, but it also may work. I am pretty sure the OC coach realizes his team is more likely to beat Westview (no easy task!!) on any given night than GC. We will have to wait until the tourneys unfold before those questions are answered. One other issue. I can't believe the outstanding talent that we are witnessing in West Tennessee right now in girls basketball. Heather Butler (a class act!!!), Chassidy Fussell, and Amber Rechis. There will not be three of this caliber coming through at the same time for some time to come. I have a problem with the fan's reaction to Fussell. Everyone understands her demeanor on the court and it does rub some people the wrong way. But respect her basketball abilities and the time she puts in to practicing (I hear she is in the gym all the time). The BOO's are uncalled for players of this talent level. I couldn't believe I noticed an older gentleman wearing a Westview shirt last night at OC clapping and yelling comments toward Fussell as she walked in front of him. That was classless. I thank each of you talented players for allowing me to see your hard-earned talents. I hope you three I mentioned, as well as others I could mention, go on to be huge successes!!!!
  3. Thanks for the update. Having to shoot 3s and not making them can create a quick lead for the other team is they can capitalize. Sounds like they did. You going to the 'boro' next week to watch the boys?
  4. I must say this shocked me when I read this. I thought Covington was unstoppable at home. Congrats to Sheffield. I tell you what. Coach Real is a class act and there are several players on that team that follow his lead. They did a great job this year.
  5. Purple, saw where you posted that BTW went on 12-0 run. What happened if you know. Or does someone know. Thought DC had a chance and then the end went crazy. Fill me in please....
  6. I expect GC to raise a lot of eyebrows in this first game. People will be shocked. GC by 19!!!
  7. This thread is getting hilarious. I am getting geared up for all of these games. By the way, the tickets allotted to DC were presale tickets. It will be up to the fans to get there in time to gobble up the rest. Better get there early!!
  8. I have to agree. I didn't realize it had been since 03 though. This is another one that is going to be close I think. DC just doesn't die man. Wow. They play hard even when most think the game is over. I have to BTW by 5. Good luck.
  9. I would like to see Coach Whitby return to the boro but not sure he will do it over a very good Manassas team. I would like to see him make it because I am not sure if he will be coaching much longer due to health reasons. Good luck to the Falcons
  10. CJ, John Hudson, and Ced made the team. Well deserved. A nail biter indeed as I predicted. Some Covington fans were out of control and had to be escorted out of the gym. Also, Walker for Covington is a class act. After being fouled by Rex, he approached Rex to shake his hand and Rex blew him off. I never thought I would have seen that coming. At the end of the game, I leaned over the rail to see what would happen when Rex met up with Walker. It never got there. Rex was around CJ when they shook hands with one of the Covington players. Not sure if something was said but Rex and CJ went off. That was the start of the cops separating everyong. Coach Real was sure yelling at Coach McChord at the end of the game. He was furious at the way CJ and Rex handled the situation and wanted to let him know. McChord wasn't listening to him though because it was so loud in there. As far as the refs in this game, not too bad. A few bad calls against both teams. Nothing that changed the game or outcome which is good. Another game that was worth the price of admission.
  11. My bad Beavo, I guess my perception was based on your comments about Coach Haskins' COY award and how in your eyes the "Oh holier than thou" Coach McChord should have been in his place (and maybe). There are ways to say you don't agree without being disrespectful to the winners. I can't stand sore losers. Never have while playing and never will today. Not bringing this COY crap up again either. It's over. Good luck tonight because it will not only be a nail biter, but maybe a multi-nail biter. Switch those fingers up and don't chew them down to the quick!!!
  12. 74 reminds me a lot of a guy on here named Beavo. To all the loyal good DC fans, you guys and gals are alright. 74 and Beavo are the types of fans that make crazy remarks and causes others to stereotype all DC fans. You guys should both chill on here because its obvious you both are normally way off the mark. And as far as saying they are sitting at home for the remainder of the season, don't get mad when others do it to you when your season ends!!!
  13. I really hate to even reply to this. But I will go ahead. I can only compare to others I have seen as seniors around here so here it goes. CJ and Rex are both outstanding players. I think they could see the likes of an OVC school. I even think maybe a Vanderbilt. Don't see them in a school like Tennessee, NC, or a Duke. Your upcoming players, well that remains to be seen. I think Hudson could be a big time D1 player. Just have to wait and see how his size and playing abilities continue to blossom. Fred, depends on size. Not sure how tall he will get but will definitely need more size. If he doesn't grow, he may be in the likes of colleges I spoke about for CJ and Rex. As far as Ced, I would like to see him with the passion he had last night in every game. I agree with Yank about getting more exposure. He definitely doesn't mind playing hard and think he would work hard to gain that exposure. So, with all that said, I think your true hope at a big time D1 player rest with a redheaded Freshman. And by no means am I discounting the others. That is just my thoughts for what it's worth.
  14. FAN3 welcome to the thread. Most on here realize what Prather is capable of doing. Some people can't see it. A US ranking tells a lot to college scouts. I think the Bethel and Freed Hardeman jokes were a little low. WHY, because both places would offer a super education which is what 99% of these players will fall back on anyways. I really wonder what the percentages are of a high school athlete making it to the NBA?
  15. Gibson by 14. I think the GC girls are playing super and will thrive off the enormous crowd that will show up to support them.
