  1. Well, I’ve seen them all play this year and I don’t feel there is a team anywhere that can beat Greenfield. I know they are just an A school but they are a special group of girls with exceptional talent and chemistry. Best team I’ve seen all year. Nonetheless, this is a shame for all the remaining teams in each classification who have worked so hard to get to this point. You are all winners.
  2. Not much of a game. 67-44. Greenfield dominated from the opening tip off. The Jackets will be tough to beat this year. They are a very well rounded team with a swarming defense and an explosive offense. Great team work. Fun to watch.
  3. Great job Region 7A: Class act selecting co-MVP’s in Chloe Moore-McNeil and Tess Darby. Both very deserving. Congratulations to both these great players.
  4. Agreed. GC has not shot well at UTM and didn’t seem to have the intensity I’ve seen previously. Gotta credit Greenfield for how they jump started the game and never backed down.
  5. Defending State champs flexed their muscles tonight. Greenfield came out strong and forced GC to fight back all night long. GC is a very good but too much talent on Greenfield. Gotta love West TN girls basketball. Still work to be done in substate games but should be great representation at the Boro.
  6. Just a slight correction, Greenfield won the 1st, 3rd and 4th quarters. GC won the 2nd quarter only. Great game great win for the defending champs.
  7. I agree that the refs need improvement, week after week, year after year. But it's part of the game, it's part of highschool football. All the questionable calls referried to are just that, questionable. We all have our own opinions and so do the referees. And it's their judgements that we all have to live with and play through. In each case, there were no hesitations on the calls. The officials were very close to each play and made their judgements based on what they saw. We as fans will agree or disagree in which ever way benefits our team, but the game goes on and the kids still have to make plays. I feel our attention needs to stay focused on the student athletes on the field and how they play the game. Westview holds Milan to just 12 offensive plays and 3 punts the entire 2nd half with no first downs. The second half interceptions by Westview were spectacular and you can't help but admire the effort put forth by those kids to make those plays. The fake extra point for a 2 point conversion was a great call and again perfectly executed. After being down 14-0 in the first half, giving away 4 turnovers and having difficulty stopping Milan's passing game in the red zone, Westview's defense and special teams conitnued to fight and provide their offense chances to get back in game. No matter what the situation is, it always comes down to the players on the field making plays. The resilience of high school athletes playing Friday night football is an event to behold and cherish. I feel blessed to be able to enjoy it week after week. Great game by both teams. Our thoughts and prayers for a quck and full recovery for Milan QB.
  8. Landon Pitcher - Westview (LB) - 6'4 210 Andrew Chavis - Westview (DL) - 5'10 245
  9. Typical preseason scrimmage. Neither team was able to put together any kind of substantial drive. Touchdowns scored off broken coverage, missed tackles and turnovers. I believe Westview Varsity won 23-18. Chester Co did have a couple big plays called back due to penalties and Westview capitalized on them forcing turnovers. Westview's special teams were much better. They won the battle of field position with superior punting and made all 3 extra points. Chester Co struggled to get punts and extra points off due to bad snaps. One botched punt led to a safety. Both teams scored 3 TD's but Westview converted their extra points and forced a safety to make up the scoring difference I think the Chester Co JV shut out Westview JV squad. Chester Co has some very impressive looking Freshman athletes.
  10. Agreed that it was a great game. Agreed that both teams had their chances. Agreed that Westview pretty much dominated the game. Agreed that Lewis County came up big on goal line stand. Agreed that Lewis County never gave up as evidenced on halfback pass for incredible touchdown. Agreed both teams are well coached and players respected each other. It was a pleasure to watch. Disagree that LC player was down and wasn't a fumble. Just watched on Hudl and very clear that Westview's #10 stripped ball from LC running back before he was down and Westview recovered. Agreed refs blew this call. But agree that this is high school football and you never know what kind of calls you are going to or not going to get. It's just a shame it was this kind of call that directly impacts the outcome and doesn't reward the outstanding effort of the defense who made a play when it was needed. Hats off to Lewis County who also made a play when it needed. Great effort shown by #7 and his refusal to give up on the pass for a touchdown. Thank you Lewis County for being great hosts. You made us all feel welcomed. Good luck next week. We will be back next year. Maybe we'll meet again.
  11. Congrats to the remaining teams. I just wanted to take a moment and congratulate the Lady Chargers of Westview on a good season. No one expected much out of this team this year after losing the 3 college signees (Rechis, Swaim and Olds) from last year. However, you girls came together and played well. There were ups and downs as there is in any season but to finish 3rd in the district for the season and 3rd in the tournament is nothing to be ashamed of. Hats off to this year's seniors Jacey Sims (All-District) and Breanna Pitcher (All District, All District Tournamemt and All District Academic). You both gave it your all against Liberty but came up a little short. This was one of the better games that the Lady Chargers played all year. They lead most of the game and controlled the tempo. Not until the fourth quarter did Liberty take the lead. Westview just missed a few key shots down the stretch. Breanna Pitcher carried the load through out the game scoring a game high 21 pts. Jacey Sims added 10 pts, Taylor Swaim 4 pts and Kaley Leyhue 4pts. I've enjoyed watching Pitcher and Sims play over the past 4 years and was hoping to see a 3rd trip to the state tournament for these girls. It just wasn't meant to be. I heard they are both considering offers to play at the next level. No matter what they decide to do, I wish them the best. aWHSfan
  12. Congrats to all the teams and players on a great tournament. OC is looking strong. Clearly playing the best and most consistant ball and deserve the championship. They've had a great season so far. Now on to the regionals. Anything can happen. 14AA is also looking pretty strong but I feel that no matter the seed, any team could win. Whoever can put together their best 2 games of the season can be in the Regional Championship and earn a sectional birth. You just never know. Can't wait to watch the games. Good luck 13AA. Go Westview! Congrats to all the girls that achieved district honors last night.
  13. Congrats to GC Pioneers. They shot the ball well last night, especially on the long ball. The Lady Chargers had an off night shooting the ball. I haven't seen the shooting percentages, but I'm sure they were high for GC and low for Westview. GC also out hustled Westview which resulted in a rebounding advantage that gave GC several second chance buckets and minimized Westview's scoring opportunities. Luckily, Westview still has a chance to step things up.
  14. I believe it is their record against the higher seeded teams. So both Westview and Gibson lost twice to Obion, but Gibson beat Dyersburg twice and Westview split. Therefore Gibson #3 and Westview # 4 if Dyersburg wins. Other wise if Dyersburg loses, then Gibson #2, Westview #3 and Dyersburg drops to #4.
  15. Westview won last night on the road in Covington 47-46 after a 3 point shot at the buzzer by Breanna Pitcher. Teddy Vincent had a strong game and led Westview with 18 points while Pitcher had 15. Westview seems to be picking their game back up at the right time. Should be an eventful district tournament. With Gibson beating Dyersburg, the district bracket is still undecided. This Friday, Gibson is home against Crockett, Westview is at Milan and Dyersburg is home against Obion. Good luck to all.
  16. Obion County was the better team last night. They exploited their strength by feeding the post. Goodman had a strong game scoring 22 points and her presence underneath the goal caused our girls to alter their shots. Westview obviously didn't play their best game committing over 20 turnovers and shooting poorly from the floor. Alot of the credit goes to the aggressive OC defense. They were the obvious aggressor from the tip of the ball. Obion's aggressive play almost back fired with the number of fouls they committed which allowed Westview to stay in the game throughout by shooting great from the line. Late in the 4th, both Wright and Tucker fouled out but Westview could not capitalize. Westview stayed in the game behind a variety of scoring from Swaim (16), Pitcher (13), Leyhue (11), Sims (6), and (8) from the bench. Being in the game until the very end despite the poor shooting and excessive turnovers, tells me that these two teams are evenly matched. I look forward to the rematch at Obion.
  17. This is true, and Khadijah will make a difference. I believe it will be a close game as long as GC has a good shooting night. Since rebounding seemed to be a big part of Westview's win over GC, I'm afraid in the end, OC's size will be too much for GC. Hopefully not, as I'm pulling for GC to give OC it's first district loss. Good luck!
  18. After beating Gibson County last week at home, the Westview Lady Chargers were on the road at Dyersburg last night. Westview improved to 2-0 in district 13AA play after knocking off the Lady Trojans 61-57. Westview has seemed to pose a problem for their first two 13AA opponents by showing they can score from every position. Breanna Pitcher, who has been leading Westview in scoring this season, was given alot of attention by Dyersburg last night. Pitcher was held to just 4 points. But that didn't seem to phase the Lady Chargers. Sophomore Teddie Vincent and junior Taylor Swaim both scored 16 in the game and played very aggresively. In addition, freshman Kaley Leyhue added 10 while senior point guard Jacey Sims dropped in 8. Another 7 points came from Westview's bench, who continue to provide very productive minutes at this early point of the season. Westview this year, is scoring both inside and outside and tends to distribiute the ball very well. Dyersburg was lead by junior guard Kay K. Tate who scored a game high 29 points last night. Unfortunately for the Lady Trojans, she was the only player in double figures on her team. Tate is obviously their "go-to" player and plays well on both ends of the court.
  19. After seeing both teams play this year, I predict Obion Co by at least 10 points.
  20. Clearly there is a different look to 13AA girls basketball this year. However, there is still alot of talent in 13AA that has been overshadowed by all the D1 graduates over the past few years. It will be interesting to see who steps up. Many of the preseason polls leave west TN teams out of the state tourney. I never give the polls much thought, but it will be fun to watch them change as the season progresses.
  21. GC was relentless and physical as always..the better team won last night. Disappointed with Westview's lack of team play as seen in previous two district games. I agree others have to step up but I also saw many opportunities to pass the ball to wide open team mates ignored and difficult shots in the lane taken instead. Westview needs to put this one behind them and focus on the very favorable regional bracket in front of them.
