  1. No it wasn't and I am sorry I said. It just seems like you guys are blaming refs. Ya they probley did let it get out of control and shame on them for that! However, If a ref attempts to phically break up a fight by placing his hands on a minor he becomes liable. What if in the process of shoving back a player or seperating them you shoved player trips, break arm??? Who is responsble now? By the way I am not a soccer ref, know nothing about the rules, but have been involed in other sports where fights have broke out. All you can do is blow your whistle, take out your pad and begin writing numbers. "Was that constructive?"
  2. Need any cheese to go with that wine?
  3. Run counts. It is a timing play. Plain and simply.
  4. I will tell him and the others. I think they will all like that. I will have Matt tell all the boys from K's era I think they would enjoy that.
  5. Hey Coach, Congrats on your season!! My son played LHS soccer back in the beginning, things were rough then.So again congrates. Now to address what happened. I am TSSAA baseball and football and I have a little saying I use during some of my pregames. Bear in mind this is the one for coaches I know well. Goes like this. You have, I have, You don't I won't. Then they look puzzled and I say You have coached, I have umpired, You don't act up, I won't eject. We all laugh and play the game.
  6. In west TN I know you you would not. Our assigning officers take that sort of stuff serious. I would say he would be removed from all games that year.
  7. Accoring to the NFHS 2009 rule book, rule 9section 6 artical a: If the starting pitcher has pitched the first four innings or more and the team is ahead when the pitcher is replaced and it holds the lead for the remainder of the game, the starting pitcher shall be the winning pitcher.
  8. I watched that game thinking it would be a barn burner. Was unimpressed. Middleton came to play! The only thing I will say is that I do not think they all put out like they are capable. However, in the last 2 min they proved they know the game and done what they had to to win.
  9. Well, that sounds typical of some small minded people. My wife also attends most of my HS softball, baseball and football games, yes she sits in the stands. She does tell me what is said AFTER the game. Believe me if I blow I call she is worst than any superviser I have ever had talk to me. I guess as a official that DOES NOT work varsity basketball I can say that I too have seen guys that just don't seem to be there for the correct reasons. For a example; kid grabs a ball in mid air, calls time before landing out of bounds. Ref granted time. Now that is a case of not keeping up with rule changes and should be talked to about. The only thing I can say about officials cheating is. I have never worked with a guy I thought cheated. Missed a few maybe, didn't see it the way I saw it YA, but cheated NO. As has been stated here before most of the guys that are not in it for the right reasons usually don't last long. My advise to anyone that thinks a official is cheating would be tape the game, watch it several times at home, then if still convinced it was cheating contact the TSSAA and report it. Send in the tape, the assigning officer WILL get a call and if proven I promise you that official will be remove from the game.
  10. Pressure D you sound like a fellow I know. What assiotion are you out of? Clarksville by any chance?or the Mid-South? I do football out of the West TN group.
  11. Beachvol is that you? From Dysersburg? This is DB from travelball.
  12. As for accusing a official of cheating that is going to far. Yes some are missed, and some are just plain bad. I will never believe that a official goes out with the intentions of cheating. Most of the guys I know beat themselfs up pretty good on the drive home about a poor job or missed call that hurt a team. Our assigning officer for football actually brought in a agent from the FBI to one of our meeting just to discuss possibly things like that and the pently involved. I do not know about you but 85 dollars is not worth the time, embassesment and shame that would come with it. As for cheating, next time your at work and take that extra smoke break or take that few extra minutes in the break room, rember that is cheating!! Even if you don't think so, it is cheating! Don't feel so good to be called a cheater does it?
  13. I have had to ask fans to move back before from certain areas. It happens. Most of the time all refs will clear the immiadite area under the goal during foul shots. In small gyms sometimes you have to turn a blind eye. Was at a game the other nite that was standing room only. I was under the the goal and knew the crew there and they ask that everyone just stand back for safty reasons. I am in West TN and for the most part we don't have some of the problems described in other parts of the state.
  14. Man officating must be just horrble this year. Every post I read, someone says that the crew they had was the worst ever saw. If everybody that has said that on here this year has been to all of there home games. Kinda makes me feel good as a official, because at a playoff football game season before last a fan said I was the worst ever. Now it appears as if several have moved ahead of me! LOL
  15. I do not do basketball so therefore I do not know if it is the same. In baseball, softball and football, when playoff time comes we have to travel to another area. The reason given is they do not want any officials that have worked a game involing either team to work postseason games.
