Would like to see LA play some of these teams during a reg season game to see where they stand. Saw them get beat by #1 Northeast in a playday by 15, then in the same playday LA beat #10 CPA by 20+, LA's only reg season losses have came from west TN which I think would have beaten all these teams except maybe Northeast. Poll should change in coming weeks!

Glad to see Upperman may be alot better than once thought. I like the fierce competition, and i was a little disappointed when everybody said it was going to be a long year in Baxter. Beating a weak team by 20+ isnt as rewarding as beating a good team by 20+. (Like last year in the region championship game LOL!!!) So bring it BEES to HOG-EYE COUNTRY!!!

I saw coach Rigsby take out his starting 5 in the start of the 3rd against a very good single A Forrest team. They could not rebound play defence or even break the screen. The second 5 could do all that and more and still stay within 1 point at the end of the quarter. In the 4th both sets began to run smooth and play ball like they were taught. If Cannon County can have a good shooting nite 45-55% LA's Defence better have the A Game. They are not in West Tn. anymore! Thank goodness were not in west TN anymore! If you are saying CC will give us more problems than Melrose then just go ahead and believe that. You will have a lonnnng drive home!! BE SAFE!!!

The move from middle school to HS is a tough adjustment, just wondering who are some of the freshmen already making their presence known in the area? One player I am impressed with is Mason Ramsey from LA. He has averaged 20 a game in their heated rival games Cookeville, york, Pickett. This young man's play has made a statement that he will be a force to be reconed with!

I will stick to my prediction, LA didnt play well last night and pulled out the win. If CC thinks LA will play flat again then come on and take your spanking too! A win is a win, if you can play bad in this district and still win then you have accomplished something. As for us being out of rythmn, You have to admitt we have been pretty spoiled. We have had pretty much the same starting line-up for three years. Those boys knew exactly where to be and where each other would be, that doesnt happen over night!! LA BY 15+ !!! go HOG-EYE!!!!

LOL that is funny. The funniest thing is its all true you cant make this stuff up. Maybe Cookeville High can get a contract with VH1 to do a reality show!!

This should be two good games, I have lots of respect for the Cannon Co teams. I do believe LA could win both games by 15+. The home court will help as it would be alot harder to win in Cannon Co. Good luck to both teams and hope teams stay injury free!

The title I am referring to is "HARD TO BEAT"!! Everyone knows there is a whole season to be played out. Another team may step up, to be the best you have to beat the best, until then its all talk!!

I guess Alumn89 is one of the "choosen ones" who get to particapate in Cookeville athletics. The rules of the game should have been announced when the boy from Cookeville slapped the pad on the ball goal and got the T. As for class Cookeville has never came to Livingston and only had a small section to sit, and have always been welcome in our building. We love the competition!! As for the PA guy, he did a poor job period! Talking during play, Turning the music up during our hog-eye cheer, that is bad sportsmanship and no "CLASS"!!!! GO HOGEYE!!!

York didnt compete too well last year, but i do look for a more competitive team this year. I just dont think playing pc close makes them hard to beat, LOL!! They need to earn that title, right now LA is the only team in 8AA who has earned it. And from what i have seen from Freshmen Ramsey and Mccoin, and our sophmores we will have that title for a while!!

] That wasn't the worst! When he was reading the TSSAA rules of the game with 1:30 left in the game with LA inbounding the ball and moving toward the basket. Now that was very unprofessional! You are riight. that was one of the times that stood out to me, they will get their's, but we have way more class!

York may be hard to beat by a single a team, I think LA will find the task easier to overcome!!!

its true, Ensworth game has been postponed. And whats up with the rude announcer at the Cookeville game talking on the mic while we were shooting free throws? We will show them true hospitality when they come to HOGEYE COUNTRY!!!!

There are some good rec programs in cookeville, Eddie Meadows has taken teams to national tourneys and done very well. Sadley those kids never get a chance to showcase thier talent at the high school level. You do the math money+name+politics does not equal wins!

Sounds like showtimehoopstar is a middle school ball player from b-town, He has a lot to learn but i do like the attitude. That is about 10% of what it takes to be a ball player. Come back in 4 years and we will see if u have the other 90%. Meanwhile the Nivens kid from Hilham will prob give u some free lessons on how to play!

This thread is amusing, I am a fan of all the local teams. But i played at LA in the 90's so that is my team. Players like Amonet, Beasley, Melton, Meadows, Crouch, Mitchel, and Parrish only come along once and a while. They just happened to play within a few years together. This years team is smaller and less talented but as posted earlier that is not fair to compare the two. As for the ignorant post about waiting 4 years, sorry to tell you but liivingston has a freshman class this year that could be compared to last years graduating class! Looks bad 4 other teams in our district. Good luck to all local teams and hope everyone stays injury free!

The stars did look good against Maplewood, but they were taken out of their game against Father Ryan and didnt adjust very well. Only winning by 4 not 15. They clearly had more talent and should have had a better showing, Hammonds had no composure and played well only in a couple spurts of that game. I do look for the Stars to have a good season and good luck!

Yeah after all it was just a playday. Though I dont think it would have mattered if Creekwood would have played all thier best 5 the whole game. Livingston was hitting on all cylinders. Huit the starting point guard was out as well as 4 other good players for Livingston due to football. I was very impressed with how well Kalen Melton ran the team plus him being on fire from beyond the arc. This will be another good year GO LA!!!

Northeast was very impressive today, Livingston played well. 1st time i have watched Siegel, someone needs to inform "boro baller" that they where not the best team there! Hammonds, from my view is a good high school player but over rated. He will not be able to play at the next level because he is too small to play inside and too slow to play the perimeter. Overall, Norteast and their #23 put on the most impressive show!

I too believe it will be a good game... Our coach also subs and coaches different in playdays. That was just a comment to state a fact these two are familiar with each other.... LOOKING FORWARD TO BATTLE, as far as coahes go, i will stand behind melton!!!
