May I throw something out there about a team from this area? Please discourage students from all the racist shenanigans that go on when they play Lenoir City. I saw it first hand last night and the coach told me they deal with that almost every single game. Kids wore bahas, sombreros, and had fake donkeys they "rode" over on the sidelines. If that goes on every week, I wonder why it hasn't been stopped yet.

Saw the OR MHS match. Neither team deserved a win.

That Bearden/Maryville tie was the game where the ref decided that there should be 10 minutes of stoppage time...of course, Bearden tied it in that time. Glad Maryville is playing as a team now. First half against Alcoa last week was pretty awful for them.

Maryville dominated most of the game, but as they learned against TN High, all that matters is the final score. I do the PA for Maryville, and I noticed that as soon as I announced the Farragut score, the whole game changed. As soon as I said it, both teams looked to the booth in shock. They also reacted very differently on the field. I saw Maryville players cheering as if they could sit on their 1-0 lead and they'd automatically get Farragut in the finals on Friday (say that three times fast). Catholic, on the other hand, stepped it up and really took over the game's momentum. Huge win for Catholic. I overheard them celebrating after the game, and they were all saying, "let's go to Moe's!" I don't know why that made me laugh. Reminded me of going to Pizza Hut to celebrate at the end of an AYSO season as a kid. I wonder if their coach handed out tiny plastic trophies.

Will you be at the game? I could use a small favor from someone that will be there.

Easttnref wants more topics, and a little playoff talk. How about the east TN matchups? From what I understand, Catholic destroyed West so now they head to Maryville, while Farragut is set to play at Bearden. Any chance that Farragut could pull an upset tomorrow night? How about Catholic?

I was watching the Maryville crowd last night, and I thought they kept it clean. They are a passionate bunch, though. You have to give them that. For the record, that Maryville/West match was a lot of fun to watch. Maryville scored the winning goal with less than a minute to go. Pretty exciting. It was also fun to watch that McCoy kid for West. Holy set-piece, Batman!

I'm also anxious to hear what exactly was done that was so offensive. I do the PA for Maryville, so I've only seen them play twice this year, but I'm betting it was their students that may have crossed the line. Quite a few of them were present for the WB game last week, and they sure got rowdy. I didn't notice any shortage of class from the adults, even when TN High beat them on Saturday at MHS. I'm glad to see Maryville perform well this year. I think they are very good...not great. Still, I'm anxious to see what their talented coaching staff will be able to do with this bunch. If the fans got out of control, I just ask that you give them a pass this once. Beating Farragut is a big deal. Blowing them out on the road was probably too much for immature 17-year-olds to handle.

I'll be at Sevier Co./Maryville tonight. I've heard good things about SC, but haven't seen them. They've got a decent record don't they? Any thoughts about this game?

Ned, how much trouble would you guys be in if that QB went down with a serious injury? Sounds like a brave move to go recruit players from other sports to play Keeper for you the day before the Bearden game. Glad to see it worked out for you. How did that kid named "Scrappy" do?

Bearden has a tough week with three games. I don't know a lot about Science Hill, but Maryville and Farragut will be tough for them.
