Are you referring to the gatorade bath that the Monterey players gave their coach after beating the crap out of Gordonsville in the game I believe you referred to as "Monterey's super bowl?" Don't flatter youself croz. That celebration shower was for a first year head coach getting his first career win. It wouldn't have mattered who they beat; that celebration was well deserved and very appropriate. The fact that it was Gordonsville did make it just a little sweeter; but despite what you think, Monterey football has much bigger aspirations than simply beating your precious tigers. The fact is you know nothing about this Monterey football team and what they have been through. They have earned the right to celebrate every chance they get. I doubt there is another team in the state that has had to deal with as much adversity as this team has faced. They will continue to strive and compete and do their best to keep winning no matter the opponent, no matter the odds , and certainly no matter the ignorant opinions of people like yourself. I am a proud supporter of the MONTEREY WILDCATS, 2014 TSSAA CLASS A SEMI-FINALIST.............

Proud of Monterey for being the top seed in this quad. May not have the history, tradition, respect, a high school, a fieldhouse, a locker room, or even a true home field to play their games on but these boys have battled a ton of adversity to get to this point. Don't assume this is the same old Monterey. Looking forward to the opportunity to possibly open some eyes.

I agree. Clay Co. should be auto qualifier which would bump Monterey down to wildcard spot. That would in turn bump Sunbright out.

Coalfield should be the automatic qualifier no matter what happens this week. Sunbright will probably get a wildcard based on having at least 5 wins. They can secure a wildcard spot with a win fri.

Quad 2 and 3 will no doubt be the toughest to figure out. Quad 4 seems easy enough if those indeed are the teams that make it in. Quad 1 seems fairly straitforward as well with the exception of who the sixth team will be that joins those 5 easternmost teams. No matter how the other 12 teams are grouped, there will be some long drives. That's just part of what makes the playoffs special. Going to be exciting.

Still too early to know for sure exactly how teams might be aligned. I was just looking @ the map and trying to figure out the quads. The way I listed the teams may be nothing like what tssaa comes up with. My alignment would produce some new and interesting match-ups though.

Quad 1: Cloudland, Knox Grace, Harriman, Sunbright, Coalfield, Monterey Quad 2: Copper Basin, Lookout Valley, South Pitt, Collinwood, Wayne Co., Perry County Quad 3: Clay Co., Gordonsville, MTCA, Eagleville, Jo Byrns, McEwen Quad 4: Huntingdon, Gleason, West Carroll, South Fulton, Union City, Lake Co.

I heard that one of Dekalb's best receivers suffered a bad knee injury in the scrimmage against Monterey. Does anyone know if this is true? And if so how is he doing?

If I understand it right, distict 7&8 will play as a region which means that the top two "A" teams in the region and the top two "AA" teams in the region will be the playoff teams. Jackson County will be competing against the likes of Trousdale, Friendship Christian, etc. Then there could also be some teams added or left out because of wildcards, but I don't understand that part at all. Maybe this helps you out a little.

Congrats to Coach Looper and the Wildcats! Good luck at State. Seen some exciting ballgames this week. One thing is for sure, there is no quit in this team.
