  1. Putting the wraps on Beech’s 11-1 season: In a long list of great coaching performances for Coach Crabtree and his staff, this season may rank at the top. Beech was extremely young on both sides of the ball, which really showed up on the offensive line. They started 1 senior on the O line against Shelbyville. The rest were underclassmen, including 1 freshman. They lose one running back, but all three RB’s that were in the game on the opening scoring drive will be back. The qb will be back along with all the receivers. On defense they return their entire D line along with a freshman MLB who will be a superstar before he graduates. He was responsible for 2 of Shelbyville’s three fumbles. They will have to replace all but 1 cornerback in the secondary. Hats off to the Bucs for another fun year. Looking forward to next year.
  2. Congrats to Shelbyville. They were the better team and deserved the win.
  3. Yep, you nailed it wingT. Five plays is all we’ve got. But I hear they’ve been working all week on play #6.
  4. Beech is used to playing teams bigger than them. I can’t think of a single game this year where Beech wasn’t undersized. If it ain’t broke.....
  5. 111 to 20 That was the score last night between Region 5 and Region 6. I got to catch the second half of the game on tv and was totally impressed with Summit. And if Columbia hadn’t continually shoot itself in the foot it would’ve been a Region 5 Sweep. Beech’s O line was manhandled by the Lions all night long. This same defense averaged giving up over 30 a game to Page, Shelbyville and Summit. Not looking good for Region 6.
  6. If Beech and Gallatin go 6A would Rossview get shuffled out of that region? Bring back the old 9AAA days.
  7. I truly believe the SC job could be a good one. They have good demographics in an area that is absolutely exploding population wise. Facilities are adequate and the community will support it if they put a good product on the field. It will take an energetic coach who is willing to come and work his tail off to change a culture that has gone horribly wrong. I’m not sure how the #’s will shake out in a few years after Liberty Creek is built, but there’s no reason they shouldn’t be competitive.
  8. I don’t think there’s much difference between Beech, Gallatin or Henry Co. Haven’t seen Page or Shelbyville but I’m sure they are both good teams. All that to say, 5A is loaded this year just on the west side alone. I’m sure East is strong too. DONT think I’ve seen this much depth in 5A before. Gonna be a blast!
  9. I’ve seen it called against other teams that were chopping Beech’s fullback.
  10. The real poachers are at Hunter and Rucker games. And Ellis/Hawkins games too I’m sure.
  11. Glad they got to see what they’re missing out on.
  12. Sumner County should be proud of the product on the field and the support from both communities in the stands. That’s what high school football should be. If you were a fan of the forward pass you probably left that game with a headache. But for my money you couldn’t watch a more exciting, hard nosed game. Two really good teams that are obviously among the best in 5A. I was pleasantly surprised that Beech's offense was able to move the ball as well as they did against Gallatin’s D. It was by far the best performance the Beech O has had all year, even though they only scored 2 td’s. Beech’s depth at running back is the strength of their offense. I was very impressed with Gallatin’s LB’s. They were big, fast and physical. Beech’s D continues to play well and I thought overall did a pretty good job against Briggs. He’s the real deal. Lots of work to do for both teams in the next month, but let’s hope we get to do it again a month from today. Hard to imagine but that would be an even bigger game than last night.
  13. And somewhere tonight in Mt Juliet, there’s a radio talk show host that’s really pissed.....
  14. I’ve yet to see a person on this board pick Beech to win, so far it’s all Gallatin. Beech lost to MJ in their jamboree and MJ totally shut down Beech’s run game. Gallatin thumped Hendersonville, Beech should have lost to HHS who, again, totally shut down their run game. The Gallatin boys can keep talking up them being the underdog, but I think an objective odds maker would have Gallatin as the clear favorite.
  15. Yes, come one out. And you can bring back our starting CB from last year that y’all took.
  16. I think it increases the crowd. So get there even earlier.
  17. Yeah, the whole “exposure” thing was laughable. Apparently Withrow has never heard of Hudl.
  18. 90% chance of rain. Up to an inch Fri night.
  19. Thanks for the explanation. Pretty sure that won’t satisfy Mr Withrow though.
  20. I promise you Coach Crabtree will do what he wants, and I’m just fine with that. Chad Withrow and yahoo’s on here (including me) are the last people whose opinions matter to him.
  21. I listened to Withrow (MJ homer) bash Beech as well. He said the Beech AD said there is no room in the press box, which is true. Beech already streams their games live on WHIN’s website. The WHIN folks and/or Beech folks have sold advertising to local businesses to support this broadcast all year long. Is Beech supposed to kick the guys out that are doing the WHIN stream every time Withrow wants to show up and do a game? He also said that this is a case of “adults ruining it for kids”. Last time I checked, Beech’s program was far from ruin.
