Sorry, Coach, but your fact is anything but one. The current coach's predecessors built Notre Dame's soccer program and Coach Jim has continued the tradition with 8 straight appearances in the state tournament. He also has a solid boys' program. Young Catholic kids at St. Jude and OLPH (the two K-8 Catholic schools) know about the tradition and want to continue it. They watch their older brothers and sisters play, and want to be a part of it when they attend, so they train hard, and join good club programs in order to get better. It is called building a program.
I can only speak for this freshman class but I am sure the same story is true for our upper classmen, too. We have 10 freshmen that play soccer. 9 came from St. Jude. 8 of the 10 girls are Catholic. So, to say that girls come to ND to play soccer is simply not true. They know at an early age that they are going to ND, and want to be part of something special. You could so the same thing in Dekalb County. You could build your program up so that young girls, who have no choice as to where to attend high school, will want to be part of something special. When they start playing U9 and U10, they could be dreaming of playing for your team and be motivated to train and get better to crack that starting XI once they reach 9th grade. This is what has happened at ND.
