  1. Mistake free football...therein lies the problem. Too much time being devoted to becoming an admin. than practicing enough to have fewer holding calls, illegal shifts, and fumbles.
  2. Here's the deal....Cam is on the money about the o line. Yes the Trojans have struggled this year but they are still a dangerous team that can beat a lot of people if they are clicking on all cylinders. Yes they can beat Arlington and the coaches at Arlington know that we are capable of it. They will have to play one of their best games. Now...it is obvious the Trojans are a little down this year from what they have been in the past...so if Arlington happens to beat us, I dont think any middle or west Tn. teams are going to be intimidated. The Trojans have some guys right behind this group that is going to rattle some teeth the next few years....big talent!!!! So you fella's whose kid is a senior, we will probably never hear from you again after the next couple of weeks, if your kid is a junior or sophomore (look out Arlington...lot of Sr.s leaving) you will have tough road to hoe against the Trojans the next year and the following. Me, I'm vested here with some blood of my own and you will see me for the next few years here. Stand Strong Trojans Fans!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. lilcoach, are you saying that with even with the rain and mud that Millingtons defense is that weak that Arlington will score 35 points? That is pretty strong!!!
  4. Alright,..... most regular season full practices are over. Nothin left now but the game. Who has the advantage friday night with the rain forecast??? You would think it would be the Trojans run oriented offense....shouldnt it be? Arlington is going to pass the ball wet or dry, thats what they do. Will that give the Trojans defense the edge and can Millington capatalize with their run game???? Does Hawkins have the offense clicking on all cylinders week 10 of the season?
  5. There is a lot of truth in your quote. The defense has done pretty well but seems suspect to the pass. I think the defensive front will put a big wrinkle in Arlingtons passing game although, (at least we had better or we are in trouble) which will take a lot of pressure off the secondary. The offense is just not progressing like it should this late in the season. We keep saying if they can ever put it together it will be unstoppable. I truly hope coach has it put together by Friday.
  6. Thank you GoChiefs. I've been doing all I can not to get on here and respond to this morons comments. I'm 100% sure you are right in your comments referring to the other Millington fans not thinking like this person. We have all the respect in the world for all of our competitors and wish them the best. Especially Craigmont and Arlington. So "Trojanswars" PLEASE do us real Millington fans a huge favor and remove the "TROJANS" from your user name!!! Last comment for you boys on this...My motivation is that I am thoroughly disgusted with teams that try to recruit players and try to skirt the system to have a better football team. I feel strongly that there was some questionable manuvering going on to get not one but three kids eligible to play for craigmont last year. As for Coach Van Hooks I am sure he is a great guy...good things have been said about him. He may not have known what was going on with those boys. I do know this, Millington has some pretty by the book ADs and we have built a powerful program here with what we have in our district only. We will continue to be a power in the next few years with what we have coming up. That is what make Trojanswars365 and the Millington community proud. Not what you do or dont like or think is disrespectful. Disrespect is a matter of opinion in a person mind who is being addressed. This is an open blog and things are going to be said that someone may or may not like and when it is that peron has a couple of choices. As for Mr. (or Mrs.) Nitrous, sorry I dont know anyone who has a kid they are trying to transfer and wants some information. It is fine with me if you dont like my comments but leave him alone. My apologies to Nitrous if I brought you any unwanted attention......
  7. I agree about the system being set up that way by the TSSAA, but it does not happen as much in the public schools (recruiting). I would think there are at least 3-4 times as many public schools as private. There are some big, well known public schools Im sure some fishing is done at, but most public schools play what they have.In the west tn area a lot of the privates recruit (look at their rosters). My kids were at a public school and did fine and are successful.
  8. FootballIsMyLife,...I'll take it bait or not,so here it goes,...peep,peep,peep.. It is a possibility of the Trojans going 5-5 but not a probability. If the Trojans did happen to not win another one we wont be licking our wounds long. We have some big stuff coming to a field near you in 2010. By the way, what field would that be???
  9. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have no idea why he did it. I mean the QB doesn't play D or special teams, I don't know what might have transpired throughout the game. I never saw the two of them at each other at any point though. All I can say is, it was one of the most disappointing acts I have ever seen on a high school football field. I hope he is straightened out, because actually the young man is a good player based on what I saw that night. Sounds like Craigmont has some issues...the #60 incident, a fight on the sideline during the game, also heard from a parent some players got caught with dope this week (are thet getting 380 from school?) and also a couple of the players from Millington that played at Craigmont last year never moved. From what I understand they still lived in Northaven and we seen everyday driving to school...from Northaven. I dont know if there is any truth to that but if they did still live in Nhaven, too many people would know it seeing them every day. I know that there are some good kids on that team, and if they are to be preserved you must show them what integrity is and do the right things or it is all smoke and mirrors.
  10. CBHS will lose by at least 17. Have seen them both play up close.
  11. Yeah Right!.... We haven't had rain the last couple of days...So, You know what that means...... We will get belted this weekend!. Pack the rain poncho's and enjoy what should be a very competitive game! Oh yeah..... .Did you know that some teams here in Memphis don't practice in the rain?... Is that not comical? Go Trojans! Man, I couldnt stand it...not only do they not practice in the rain, they dont practice during the bye week either....I guess if your pretty efficient at what you do and are playoff ready now, you dont need the practice.
  12. And you wont hear of any sanctions being handed down because the T$$AA wont investigate it too hard. Why? 1.) It is very hard to prove that a kid was approached by a booster or coach from a school and offered any scholarship money to play a sport. If everyone involved keeps their mouth shut it usually doesnt get out. It is funny that most of the kids offered an "Academic Scholarship" to "give them a good chance to get a great education" at a lot of the private schools in west Tn just happen to be good athletes. And you know the parents of these kids wont say anything because of the obvious situation it would put them and their child in. (2. There is a lot of money and influential people associated with these schools....Lawyers, elected officials, a lot of politicos involved. Some say that is why Div II was created, because they can offer scholarships. If that is true, why do that since they are only "Academic Scholarships"?
  13. Fella's...i have been in this discussion already hot n heavy with some west tn folks..several of the private schools in west tn recruit players,... know kids who went to play for them, been talked to about mine...its done and whats funny is it is denied, denied, denied!! Yes I know there is some hanky panky done with the public schools also....west tn hasnt had any big contenders for the state championship every year and that may be why, ,,,,,we arent looking hard enough.....we need to get with the program!
  14. Big Respect for David Lipscomb...shows their #1 priority is education...at a school...what a concept!
  15. When a public school beats a private school that recruits it is a huge feather in their cap...They have done something they should be proud of. Most of the private schools are great programs....thats what makes the win so much more of a big deal when the public schools wins. They have beat a team that skirts the system and creates an unlevel playing field with what they(public schools) have and playing kids who only live in that district. My hat off to the team that does that. Recruiting is done and has no place in High School football. I am from a large HS team with a pretty good winning record...we play what we have in our district, thats it.....................just for the record.
  16. Coach Wieckowski is going to carry him!*^>#*^@
  17. OK boys, game day! What will happen??? It's sink or swim (pun intended). Whose predicitons hold more water??? (pun intended). Seriously, I hope the Trojans are prepared. Dont agree with the short practices during the week because it is wet but it is what it is. Millington should take this one fairly easily.
  18. I don't have a problem chatting about WS, but the conversations do tend to stay towards Millington and Arlington. I'm happy to see Arlington making a move into the winning ways, and hopefully they will see success in the years to come. Millington has been soundly defeated by 3 teams this year, and then has begun to win some games and perhaps they'll be in good shape once the playoffs get here. I don't think the Millington teams of a couple of years ago would have lost as badly, if at all, to MUS, OB, CBHS. But I think they have some new players, and it takes a bit to get them up to speed. Before I get hammered by the Trojan loyals..... WS is suffering from a similar situation. We had significant individuals graduate last year, and have had to make many adjustments as this year has progressed. We aren't finished either. Obviously, our offense seems to be capable of scoring, as they did vs East, and MUS. But our offense has to show up. They were very quiet in our game vs CBHS. Our 1st half vs MUS also showed us with nothing on offense, but they woke up in fine style in the 2nd half. Our weakness for now is our defense. I think checking out the opponents scoring makes that pretty obvious. We do have Fred Harvey, but instead of him being on the d-line as years past, he's at linebacker. We have a very young d-line and secondary. The coaches are working hard to get the defense working better, each player taking care of his responsibility, and playing consistently. There have been many times, while watching film, that coaches point out to a defensive player how they missed an open field tackle, took a bad angle, lost contain, etc.....mistakes usually a result of being inexperienced and not fully trusting the system. I see some things in common with Millington, in that we both have a lot of new young men that are working hard to learn their roles on these teams. While the area teams may be a bit weaker than recent years, I don't see them staying that way. Hopefully by playoff time, we'll all be treated to some top notch competitive games that we have grown accustomed to seeing. and hopefully, the best teams from the area are able to go into east and central Tn, and bring home some championships! Spartansfan, I agree with a lot of what you said except the Trojans have a lot of returning starters on the team...they are not that new. That has been one of the things that has kept me confused as to why the trojans havent played better than they have at the first of the season. We do have some soph and jr.s playing that have done very well and are very promising for next year and they do make some "rookie" mistakes but we are excited about the talent level coming up for us.
  19. I had an old high school coach tell me one time that the officials cant beat you, but they can sure hurt you.....I know they can hurt you, thats obvious...but I am starting to see they can beat you if you are playing an evenly matched game. The bad thing about officials is they are human...they get mad, they have preconceived notions about coaches and teams, they let their emotions control their decisions and what they see sometimes, they will throw "Mercy Flags" to keep a team from what they think is running up the score. I have talked to refs who dont like particular coaches...do you think that ref comes into the game with that completely out of his mind? No way! A good ref will go out of his way not to let his emotions rule his on-field decisions and flag throwing but I havent seen many of those "good refs" in a while. What can you do?
  20. If there is rain, you think that would we be in the Trojans favor-------as long as we dont fumble the ball which we have been prone at times to do. I know there is someone teaching these kids how to protect the ball, right? I very rarely see our guys put two hands on the ball when in traffic or switch ball sides on a break when being pursued from the other side. The fumble can make a better team lose...makes me nervous!!!!!
  21. Homecoming week for Millington....distraction or motivator??? I hope motivator. We are coming off a good win and will have homefield advantage. Dont know if the starting qb will be back or not but harwell did a good job last week. Much improved. Seemed about 50/50 on picks for Millington to win last week and most of those who picked the Trojans to win were predicting a close game. What does such a dominant win mean for the Trojans? Are we picking up to the level where we should be and can we be dominant in the next few weeks?
  22. If Harwell has gotten comfortable at practice this week at the QB spot and has built up his confidence and rhythm a little, I think Millington wins this by 14. He can be a decent QB if his work ethic improves. Im hoping it did this week. Good news on White, should be back next week. Yes, a lot of the Trojans folks are licking their wounds.... The loss to CBHS was a real bubble buster, especially since we were pretty much handling them the way we were. I believe the Millington fans are pretty confused as to where we are and where we should be. I know I am. At times I have seen flashes of the past two years and at times I have seen.....well,....Im not quite sure what I was seeing!
  23. This is my last response on this subject. I hate owlbooster has let his anger get the best of him and I dont want to encourage that. I felt owlbooster implied I was involved in a couple of instances I mentioned or some way maybe shopping my son...I was not. I was with a friend of one of the coaches once and at a sporting event where a coach was another time. I am not a liar nor am I a BSr(ok maybe a little BS about my golf game). I know what I know and I heard what I heard. I'm out....
  24. When I first started writing my last statement I gave specific incidences and examples....then I erased it. Why? It was very specific and some might know who I was talking about. I do not want any kids or their parents involved in no way, shape or form. It is not a SUSPICION, I was there. I was standing 5ft away on two seperate incidences involving coaches from two schools that have been mentioned. It is RECKLESS and UNETHICAL and CHEAPENS a great sport such as high school football. No matter how you spin it, truth will always prevail. I hate that it is done by any school and I wish it didnt happen, but it does. High School sports should be one of the last pure sporting events in this country. It involves kids whose innocence should be preserved as long as possible by their parents before they enter this crazy world. But sadly enough there are breaches in all things and I hate to see it in my favorite sport.....
  25. I have no problem with offering an academic scholarship to a deserving kid who maybe cant afford it. I have no problem with someone who brought themselves up and became successful. Most of the private schools do have great academic programs. Yes, you have to pass an entrance exam. But if you really believe there is no recruiting going on in the private schools for the purpose of having a good sports program, you are only trying to make yourself feel better. I have personally seen it. Sorry.....
