  1. Thanks. Tell him Big Chief says hey. thumb
  2. Is Johnny Frost still coaching at Cascade or did he go home to East TN.?
  3. You win the game with your pads on and your mouthpiece in. Quit talking about yourself so much and prove it on the field. Since Friendship easily beat FRA, I really don't think it is much of an accomplishment to do the same. I am glad that NCS has improved, but you are only half-way there. You are in no way ready to beat a CPA or DCA. A good effort will get you 3rd or 4th. A great improvement over the past, but not enough to continue to blow your horn like this. Oh yeah, in case you do lose to FRA, can you go ahead and list your excuses for the loss now so we will not have to wait for them?
  4. Fairview BETTER play smashmouth football. Hillwood has their top 7 linemen back, their quarterback, tailback and #2 receiver. If the Jackets cannot control the line of scrimmage they will have a long night. There is no way Fairview can match up anywhere even close with Hillwood's team speed. Antonio Lewis will run for at least 130 yards and and Hillwood wins by 3 touchdowns. Remember, Chris Hughes is coaching the middle school not the high school. You did hold us to 21 points last year, but how many did you score? Nuff said.

    DCA over NCS

whoamI2033, you got beat by 22 points. You were never in the game after the first quarter. You got beat by a better team. Deal with it.
  7. Hillwood scored on the first play from scrimmage on a screen pass to Antonio Lewis. Columbia fumbled on the next kick-off and Hillwood recovered. They then punched in another score to make it 12-0 in the first 1:55. Columbia struggled with fumbles all night, especially on special teams. Hillwood basically whipped them all over the field. Stan Trott, they have their quarterback, tailback, #2 receiver and the entire line back from last year's 9-2 squad. Why can't they be that good? If they continue to play as they did last night, they will win the Region. And yes, I know that is a big "if". They have tremendous team speed. And they played without two starters last night. George Buchanan, defensive back who had a 85 yd. int. return for a touchdown in week one had to attend his brother's wedding. Mark Moore, lineman has suffered from a staph infection that kept him out. They are now 14-2 over the last 16 games (the last 3 games of 2002-present.) They actually have some athletes now, which has not always been the case. Give them credit for what they have accomplished.
  8. My writing must be transparent because I said that on page one. Oh well.
  9. Green Wave, go over what I said again. No school is REQUIRED to participate in athletics in the state of Tennessee. As a matter of fact, there is one right here in Nashville that does not; The Nashville School of the Arts. They have no sports teams whatsoever. Also, the judgement by the Federal Court of Appeals (which overturned a decision by the State Supreme Court) is currently under appeal. It cannot be used as precedence just yet. As bad as I hate to say it, without the TSSAA high school sports in the state of Tennessee as we know it, would not exist. Why do you think the private schools have not just pulled out and started their own association? They do not want the headache. I know you are mad at the TSSAA about the Shipley kid, but the honest truth is he was living down the street from my mom in Hermitage until he got turned in. I saw him all the time. He is a good kid that got caught in the middle. He didn't want to be at McGavock and they tried to circumvent the rules. It had nothing to do with Gallatin. They didn't know. Sorry.
  10. The no child left behind act refers to academic issues ONLY. The TSSAA is an independent controllling body over ATHLETICS in Tennessee. The ability of a student to transfer to meet his academic needs does not circumvent the governing rules for ATHLETICS. NO ONE has any god-given RIGHT to play athletics in high school. If they feel that their academic needs are not being met they can petition to change schools, but it is not in writing ANYWWHERE that he/she has to be allowed to participate in athletics. Sorry guys, no school is REQUIRED to participate in organized athletics. If you have followed the BA vs. TSSAA case it has been ruled that theTSSAA is an independent governing body. Also the act states that the school must be proven not to be meeting the child's needs in a number of areas. If the child is passing, they are considered to be met. If they are not passing, they are ineligible anyway. Nice try to twist the rules around to suit you, but it will not fly in court as it is written right now.
  11. I'm glad to hear that she is doing better. My family was there in the waiting room with you at Vanderbilt for over a week with my father-in-law in the SICU. Unfortunately, we went home empty-handed. May God continue to bless her. KD thumb
  12. Get back to your school work Jarvan before I call "Dean" Williams. Thursday games can be a pain for preparation. Don't start talking about the playoffs just yet. Nine games to go and the first one didn't go your way. I would say that Stratford, Mount Juliet, Whites Creek and Pearl-Cohn should be your concern right now. Ya' gotta beat somebody to get in. Good luck and remember "Actions Speak Louder Than Words.'
  13. Had is the key word. You let them take it away from you. Only Vanderbilt likes moral victories. Tell your coach thanks for passing the ball that late in the game. What was it? A 65 yard interception return that beat you? Two words, CLOCK MANAGEMENT!
  14. There is absolutely NO doubt that Antioch has better athletes than Lebanon. But it is the little things that win the big games. Who is willing to do the little things necessary to win without worrying about the glory. It is the great equalizer. Does Lebanon have those type players? I guess we will see. Those type of players are SCARCE at all Metro schools. Blue Devils-how bad do you want it? Antioch, can you get over the press clippings and player rankings and produce? This will probably be closer than what everyone thinks.
  15. Honestly, I don't care either way, but I can tell you that Coach Neal is not exactly a walk in the park either. Good luck KB. I enjoyed watching you the last four years.
  16. Kent Austin from BA around 1982 spent time in both NFL and Canada was a great one. Both Quinn and Pennington became MUCH better quarterbacks in college than in high school. ( Yes I know Pennington went to the clinic bowl against Goodpasture and I was there for every day of Quinn's senior year.) They were good, but did not give NFL type thoughts to anybody. This is Quinn.s 6th year in the league. The Fishers at MBA (both father and son). Eric Locke was an incredible high school back. Too bad he couldn't get it together in college. Kelly Holcomb was very good as well. Mike Wright at Father Ryan in the 70's. Kurt Page from Father Ryan around '82. Ingle Martin was top notch. Spurrier was before my time, but obviously very good. I think Shadow would be better at remembering the better mid-state QB's from the 60's and 70's.
  17. Has the coach for this week been picked yet? You can't build a program with a new system EVERY year.

    Wells

Congrats, Dr. Wells. I know you will be successful. Is brother Walt still at Eastern KY?
  19. I'll pass along the kudos to Wags. He is too busy making hitters to get on here. I did tell him about the thread, however. STD, I'll see you in Memphis, excuse me, Mississippi. KD
  20. Anyone interested in one-on-one, hands-on hitting instruction needs to call Jimmy Waggoner at 456-2904 and get on the schedule. Ask the Goodpasture players where they go for hitting instruction. They seem to be doing pretty well.
  21. Littball99, tell Shrum to give Coach D from McGavock a holler for me.
  22. They play today at 3:30 at McGavock
  23. Gcityvol, Jimmy Waggoner gives lessons in Hermitage. He and a friend have a four field complex as well as a building with several cages in it. It is located behind Target on Lebanon Road (highway 70) in Hermitage-Donelson area. If you are still interested e-mail me and I will get you contact info (I hate to post here without asking him first. ladytoppersoftball@hotmail.com. Now, I have had a lot of players that went to Club K and had success. I think they do an excellent job of getting kids exposure to play at the next level. However, I think the quality of instruction has gone down hill in the last 3-4 years. Too many kids and not enough individual attention.
  24. If you want INDIVIDUAL attention on hitting then call Jimmy Waggoner. If the "cattle call" type of attention is what you are looking for then Club K is fine. Sorry folks, if I am paying the money that lessons cost, I don't want my daughter "sharing time" with SEVERAL others. Either pay more instructors to work or take less students. I have watched both Wags and Club K at work for at least the last 7-8 years. Yes, it is harder to get in with Wags, but the individual attention is worth it. Plus he went to kindergarten with me and Shane Buchanan (the coach at Dickson Co.)

    Redbaron

Redbaron, I read what you insinuated about me on the MJ "real story" page. Unfortunately, STD locked it before I could inform you. I haven't taught at MJ since 2002. I have been the head coach at Hillwood the last two years. Also, I have never, EVER done anything even close to the deeds done at MJ this year. The coach at MJ is Jeff Serbin. I never even coached softball during my two years at MJ. Apparently you have forgotten my name is Keith Dearing. Your apology is expected, VERY soon. I have high regard for your father, but you are falling down the ladder with your remark. Do the right thing. Retract.
