  1. I also want to know who Old Raider is. Lady Dunn, you did not give anymore clues to your identity. Give me one clue to your age. Old Raider, please give me a clue so I can figure you out easily. I must be slacking in my old days. As for the flash, I am not worthy to be on the same message board as he. I am far inferior and he is correct about the age thing. You have to be old and washed up rather than young and decent!! The only umpires allowed to attend the state are those who kiss up to the TSSAA!! I will admit, for once, that I am kidding. Good Luck to the flash at the tourney, you deserve the opportunity to call!! If you need to call me about a rule during the game, you can call Lady Dunn to get my number. She seems to know everything else about me.
  2. Lady Dunn, You must know me pretty well to know that correct info about me. How old are you? You did not give me any more info than I had before. This game is not fair!! As for the runner at first. When our slappers do their thing, many times when the shortstop fields the ball second base is left uncovered. The short stop fielded the ball over by where third base was. Due to the fact that the shortstop is not expecting the runner to go, our slappers should be able to beat the shortstop to second base. We have done this on several occasions this year, one time even on a walk. I was sending the runner as the throw was being made. When the first baseman dropped the ball, this alerted the shortstop that the runner may go, thus allowing the shortstop to be at second to make the play. Yes, Lady Dunn I did mess up, but the reasoning would have actually been correct if the first baseman had not have dropped the ball!!! I will take the heat and say that I screwed up in this situation!!! Now you can stand up for what is right and give me a clue to who you are!!! As for the Flash, nobody cares what you think!!!! This is not "name that star" because everyone knows who the real "Star" is. As for talking softball, why didn't the TSSAA get the best possible umpires for the state tourney?
  3. Lady Dunn, Give me your birthdate and I will nail you down. There is a very strong possibility that I know who you are, but I need to know one more clue to definately know who you are. What team or who was your coach in Little League? How well do I know you? By the way Lady Dunn, thanks for the encouragement. It is keeping me interested. If you will not dodge the age question again, this mind game will be over!!!! If you know me well, you will know that I do not like being on the short end of this trivia stuff!!!
  4. Lady Dunn, A former softball player could be hundreds of girls. Give me one clue that will narrow down the field. Age? Position? Players on the team that you played on. Does your login name relate to your name?
  5. Lady Dunn, Do I know you well? How old are you? Do you presently or did you play softball? Just give me one clue that nobody else will know. Maybe your middle name or something that only I will know you by.
  6. lady dunn, I have noticed your posts for the last couple of days. Give me some clues, so I can figure out who you are. Great game Oakland!! I thought you were in the top 5 best hitting teams that we faced all year. Good Luck against Soddy!
  7. Cleveland must have played really well. It is hard to believe that Soddy did not score at least four. Four plate appearances for Stiles usually results in some runs. She probably is the hardest out in the state. Just wondering, what are her on-base-percentage and stolen base stats.
  8. Good game by both teams. We enjoyed playing the Lebanon squad both games this season. Hate that both teams could not advance. Lebanon is a very good team that we barley squeeked by!!!!!
  9. Mynameis?, Do you not have a score? You need to find something else to do in your spare time!! Oakland won the region last year while Coffee beat Oakland for the championship the previous three, omitting the 2001 season. Always seems to be a great game. Expecting a big crowd and the best atmosphere in the state. Should be one of the top games in the state! I will go out on a limb and predict Coffee 4 Oakland 1
  10. Coach Morey from Shelbyville asked me to make the following post. At the present time, the two games for tonight will be played. Shelbyville/Columbia 4:00 Lincoln/ Lawerence 6:00 Both games will be played in Shelbyville tonight unless something comes up. Blake Finney Coffee County Softball
  11. Cannot be perfect all the time!! I try to make people think that there is a weakness on the cchs team. Apparently you have fallen for the trick. Since, I know nothing about anything, I will stop checking out female coaches and start checking out female umpires. By the way, I have already confessed to the Shelbyville coaching staff that they have the best looking staff in the state. As you know, we have the smartest. If you want, you can start a thread with these two categories and see if I am correct. I do not miss any "signals" when it comes to these two categories. I thought the title of this thread was " Catcher's Interference" not " Coaches Interference." By the way Flash, it was brought to my attentiion that you have two HOT daughters!!!! TOP GUN WINS AGAIN!!!!!
  12. I may be incorrect about the obstruction if the coach takes the obstruction, but if the ball goes into play the play can stand and should be treated as if the obstruction never occurred. Question: If a defensive player obstructs a runner on the base path during a run down, and the runner happens to be awarded home because that is the base they were going to, does the run count as an earned run or does it count as an error on the defensive player? Do obstructions always constitue an error? As for Flash, go answer your phone!!! That would be called umpire interference.
  13. I agree with many of you that the umpire should not have acted the way he did in this particular situation, but let us evaluate how the rest of the people in the situation acted. First, he did not say "out" or anything similar. He rang up a hard strike. Yes, he did it prematurely, but the umpire can call a strike anyway he wants. The coach nor the players knew the count, but nobody is fussing at them. The umpire was behind the catcher, so how did she see him ring the batter up. If the catcher and coach were on their game, the baserunner would have been thrown out at third due to the fact that both Coffee coaches were jumping up and down trying to get the runner to go. Since we are being critical of umpires, let's examine the coaches' knowledge of the game. I agree that there are not very many good umpires. Many situations that occur could be prevented if the coaches knew the rules. A coach should not argue when the umpire is correct and his or her fans should have confidence that the coach will take up for his or her tesm when needed. There should be a mutual respect beween the umpires and coaches. This, in return, keep the fans under control, because I know that they have no idea of the rules. The coach in this situation said nothing, thus he knew that there was nothing the umpire could have done to correct the mistake, thus the fans should have given a little chewing and let him go.
  14. First of all there is no such thing as " catcher interference," unless you count when the catcher jumps out in front of the batter preventing them from running to first. Interference is the act of an offensive player hindering a defensive player. There is such thing as catcher obstruction. Obstruction is the act of a defensive player preventing an offensive player from doing what they have the right to do. By the way these are not rule book definations, just off the head. When catcher obstruction occurs the umpire should signal delay dead ball. At this point a variety of things can happen in regards to how it will be scored. If the coach takes the obstruction call, it should be scored similar to a walk or hit batter, thus not affecting the batting average just on base %. If the batter strikes the ball and the coach rejects the obstruction, then the hit should be scored as any other struck ball whether it be a hit, reach on an error by a fielder, or a sacrifice in an instance where an out is given up to move a baserunner.
  15. Can someone lock this thread up? I think it is getting out of hand. This is all for me. I have turned this thing into a chat room. Sorry, Kingwasp or any other moderator who may oppose. We enjoy playing competitive people with a good sense of humor!!!!! Best of Luck Goodpasture!! [Edited by TopGun1 on 4-29-03 1:41P]
  16. Yield to STD, I have been out done!! You got me on the last post!!! I do see that great minds are on Coach T at the same time. Since I am popping login names, what does STD stand for?
  17. mynameis?, BRING IT ON!!!!! The only thing they can take out is my trash. In order to have correct grammar, you need to add the question mark to your name. Footballfanatic, You know nothing about softball since you are a football fanatic!!! Plus, I am not worried about you, because you have been stung by the Queenbee!!!
  18. Whomever made the statement that the coaches from Goodpasture were good sports was crazy. The first base coach about killed our first baseman on a foul ball. He ran under her and tried to trip her. Is this good sportsmanship? Maybe he just was not athletic enough to get out of the way! The Goodpasture coaches were wise to take the first base dugout and call the fight between the coaches off though. Good luck to Goodpasture the rest of the season and we look foward to playing you two games at our place next year, one of which you can have the third base dugout, that is if you train enough!! As a response to govolz, I think you are right. Goodpasture purchaced 200 ft. of land in the landfill next to the school to warm up in. That would make Pieroni eligable to attend our school next year. [Edited by TopGun1 on 4-29-03 1:17P]
  19. You can have the third base dugout if your coaching staff can whip our coaching staff. Another option is that you can give us your pitcher and the rest of your team and coaches can do anything they want!! See ya Mon. [Edited by TopGun1 on 4-23-03 7:57A]
  20. Goodpasture is the best team in the state at this point with the best All-Around player. Pieroni is a warrior and can play. We, Coffee County, look forward to trying to knock them off next Monday with a little home cooking. Oh but wait, Goodpasture has played more games at our field this year than we have, so we can throw the home cooking to their side. Good Luck! See you Monday.
  21. And the winner is Goodpasture!!! Goodpasture scored early on a first and third situation where the run crossed the plate before the runner at first was tagged out. Perroni (sp ?) brought her "A" game throughout the elimination portion of the tourney. On this night, Goodpasture is the best team in Tennessee!!!! Lots of great games that featured some great players. Personal favorite: (Rhodes 17 K's vs. Currie 13 K's) Thanks to all the participants for your sportsmanship and competition. When dealing with first class programs, things seem to go well. Sorry about the rain, but we had no control over that. Thanks for a great weekend and we look forward to playing Goodpasture at least 2 more times this year. If there are any suggestions for making the tourney better, please post or give us a call. By the way SuperSteve, I do not have all the scores. Maybe the Tennesseean can help you out with that. We bit off more than we could chew, finishing 0-4 for the weekend. I almost forgot the HIGHLIGHT of the weekend. For those of you who were at the Championship game, I enjoyed the pregame entertainment. Someone told me that the act had been planned for weeks!!!!!!! [Edited by TopGun1 on 4-6-03 12:27A]
  22. Someone help me with the records of the Tennessee teams playing in this weekends tourney!! Boyd? GPS? St. Bennedict? I have an idea of the other records.
  23. Maybe we should change the night cap game at the tournament this weekend to Soddy-Pisgah instead of Lipscomb-Pisgah. There would be a neutral atmosphere with neutral umpires. I have a feeling that these two teams will meet at one point anyway!!
  24. Interesting thought!! Someone compile the combined record of the teams entering the tourney. Omit wins/losses vs. teams in the tourney. I do not have lots of the out of state records and schedules, but Coach Brown from Hoover said that he was 17-4 and Clay-Chalkville, ranked #1, is like 21-2. I know that one of Pisgah's losses was to Clay and that Soddy's loss was to Pisgah. Coffee is 18-2, with losses to Beech and Goodpasture. Two of Coffee's wins came against Beech and Hendersonville, so you can omit those. Someone with math skills can help me out. I do know that several of the Nashville teams have knocked each other off. [Edited by TopGun1 on 4-1-03 3:00P]
  25. Each team has been sent a copy of directions to the tourney, but I will give some brief info here. Take interstate 24 to Manchester Exit 111. No matter which way you are coming from, you will take a left off the interstate ramp. Dave King park- turn right on Waite street about 1/4-1/2 mi from the interstate. There will also be a sign there that says city park. Lady Raider Field- Take the same initial directions by taking a left off the interstate. Keep going straght through three traffic lights. About 4 miles from the interstate you will pass an AEDC credit union. Turn left on Kennedy Dr. which is the second rd. past the Credit union. This is behind the High School. Turn right at the baseball field. These directions should be sufficient. Hope we have a large crowd.
