A learning experience that might include a win against Brentwood... a win against Brentwood?!

They've missed a great chance to have this all done by either yesterday (Monday) or tomorrow (Wednesday) with there really being no other professional sports going on at this time. Maybe they'll at least have it ready for ratification tomorrow. They could at least own the sports news for the day with that.

So I haven't convicted him in my mind of a crime yet... I've simply convicted him and the Bush Administration (through Scott McClellan) of misleading the American public.
-
"Karl Rove did not leak. Karl Rove provided information." Brad Blakeman, former deputy assistant to the president What a difference... and I'm very glad to know that Karl is not leaky. That would be quite bad if he was leaky. I also love how Fox News is trying to prevent the public from realizing that Bush meant the person would be gone. A quote from one of their articles on the story: "Bush did not use the word 'fired' to describe the fate of the leaker, but some Democrats seem to expect that response." Scott McClellan is the voice of the Bush administration. He clearly said that the person responsible would not be in the administration. President Bush pretty much echoed those feelings the next day. It is not hard to put it all together. There was no retraction from McClellan to be able to say this is off the table. Too bad Fox can't fool most of America. The fact that some of you are totally okay with this bothers me. Whether a crime happened here is not for us to decide. Whether the American public was mislead or not is completely obvious. I find it entirely hypocritical for the right to seemingly blow this off. Though it is surely not surprising. You all just go one believing that everything is okay here. I didn't think President Clinton had sexual relations with that woman. We all believe total untruths every now and then.

George W. Bush on September 30, 2003: "If somebody did leak classified information, I'd like to know it, and we'll take the appropriate action." What exactly is "appopriate action?" Look to Press Secretary's McClellan's comments the day prior for the answer: "If anyone in this administration was involved with it, they would no longer be in this administration." Try again.

Kinda morbid to think about really, but the man's been around forever seemingly. Shouldn't he be getting close? And hypothetically, should he go, would Cuba change? I just saw a piece on CNN about how he wouldn't accept U.S. aid after Hurricane Dennis ravaged his country and it just made me curious. I would hope things would get better between our nation and the island country. Thoughts?

I am absolutely loving watching Scott McClellan behind the podium dodging the questions like some kid playing dodgeball in the school yard. This is absolutely great. Finally, a "read my lips, no new taxes" or "I did not have sexual relations with that woman" for this admin. I knew it would happen sooner or later (though of course, you could claim the WMD was their first). So come on Dubya, you said you'd fire anyone in the White House who did this. You didn't say anyone unless it's Karl Rove. Of course, I'm not at all surprised that this hasn't been brought up on here. Try to defend him... unfortunately, you can't. 2003: ''The president knows that Karl Rove wasn't involved.'' ''It was a ridiculous suggestion.'' ''It's not true.'' 2005: "So I think you have to step back from any individual news story or individual reports. Let's let the investigation take place. I look forward to talking about some of these matters once the investigation is complete. I welcome the opportunity to talk about some of these questions, but I don't think it's appropriate to do so at this time. And I think the American people can understand and appreciate that." Hmmmm... nope, don't understand it at all, Scott. If you were so adamant two years ago that Rover wasn't involved, why don't you just say something like "we stand by what was said two years ago." Hmm, what's wrong with that? It's obvious. You lied. Can't wait for the next White House press briefing!

"Lewis, ya know, we've got these other things we just have to do. I'm sorry, you and Clark just can't go out west right now." Exploration should never cease. It is a wonderful thing that we have brave men and women who will take the risk that comes with exploration. So, we should most definitely provide a means by which they can explore. We only have 15-23 shuttle missions left so enjoy them! NASA wants to launch a new craft by 2010... or at least, the shuttle will be retired by 2010. GOOD LUCK TO THE CREW OF THE SPACE SHUTTLE DISCOVERY! BDD, no worries. I already gave him a bit of a hard time. Since someone mentioned it looked a little West biased...Wes took the teams everyone on here picked to win their region (including ties) and put them into the poll. He didn't just randomly pick teams. In esscence, we all did.

See, I'm not a complete liberal... I drive my nice big ole Explorer. I haven't filled her completely up since I went to Orlando back in May. I don't want to even think about how much it would cost.

This is indeed getting out of hand. I can hardly afford gas to get anywhere except to and from work. It shouldn't be that way. Man, how I long for the days of when "geez, it's up to 1.50 this week!"

July 13 we return to space! I, for one, am very excited. Feb 1, 2003 was a horrible day for our nation and for Franklin. I had a friend killed in a car accident that day so I always associate the two events together in my mind. So it's kinda like a bit of closure in a way to both - that make sense? Hopefully I'll be heading over to the other coast to watch from somewhere. It's going to be a great day! Discuss:

I voted for Ravenwood... probably not smart, but oh well. I had to suppor the region...

Man, just when this looked good for the Panhandle as it weakened coming off of Cuba... over the past 6-8 hours or so, Dennis has strengthened greatly. Pressures have dropped over 15 millibars, winds have increased to strong Cat 3 strength. Just very bad news. Dennis, unless it undergoes an eyewall replacement cycle just prior, should be a Cat 4 at landfall in the Florida Panhandle. I'm not sure if a Cat 4 has ever made landfall on the US in July... it's been since the 30s that a Cat 3 has in July. Those poor folks haven't even come close to cleaning up from Ivan in the fall. And there's more tropical activity in the Atlantic... SO EARLY! Normaly, waves don't come off of Africa until the peak of the season, but there's two out there right now. And right now, it's looking like it's undergoing possibly an eyewall replacement cycle already... not good news. They tend to get even stronger after that (after a period of weakening... which is why it'd be great if it was undergoing one AT landfall, but not a few hours before landfall).

I have a couple good friends that are gay... that's the extent of my caring. I'm just like may here, in that I don't care. Just like I don't care if you go out and get married. That's your business.

But in reality it has a lot to do with the US Constitution. See, this is a nation where we are supposedly free to live as we wish. Apparently, that does not include homosexuals. Why is this? Because the Christian conservative right feels it can push their beliefs on to people. Most of you are evidence of this by throwing your hands up and calling foul at this compassionate church. They don't share your beliefs, they must be wrong. Have faith and everything, that's great. I really do admire people of great faith. That being said, you shouldn't be allowed to press your faith on everyone else. I mean, come on folks, when did love hurt anybody? No ban is going to stop these people from loving each other. So why deny them the chance to have the legal advantages of straight people in love? So what if you don't agree with it... I don't agree with a lot of crap in this country, but it isn't that hard to be tolerant (probably didn't spell that right) or in the least, it certainly isn't hard to ignore it. If they were... ahh, forget it. I have a hurricanee to go watch...

The ridge of high pressure to our east will likely, very likely, keep Dennis offshore from the Suncoast. It's looking like the same general area that got blasted by Ivan last year is going to get it from Dennis, in the FL Panhandle. That's really unfortunate for them, but honestly, we're all breathing a sigh of relief around these parts (premature it may be though). Queenie, she should be in Orlando. The only problem I could forsee in the Orlando area would be on Saturaday... and flight delays in her getting down there if she's flying.
-
Oh, I'm definitely excited about it. When I read "with gusts to 61 MPH" I nearly jumped out of my pants in excitement. Mom's excited, too. I'm actually hoping that it still comes more east than the expect. I don't really a landfall here, but if it just rode up the coast a little offshore, that'd be nice. We'll see... To be honest with you, I'm not sure exactly how far inland we are. It takes about 15 minutes with trafic to get to the water, and that's about all I could tell ya.
-
After just returning on Monday after my brother's wedding, will I be headed back that way soon? Dennis, at the moment, looks to head just west of the Suncoast and head up towards Pensacola (though, I believe my ATMS prof. from Louisiana is headed to Apalachicola to intercept... so somewhere in there). However, recent forecast tracks have been moving Dennis more easterly over the past 24 hours. A few of the models actually have a landfall more near here. Dad is freaking out. Our house is in Evacuation Zone E, meaning we wouldn't be asked to leave unless a Cat 5 was coming but I don't think he understands that. Dennis should only be at Cat 3 strength when it makes landfall on the U.S. Coast, though Cuba probably won't be as lucky. I'll just be happy with some tropical storm force winds. That would be fun, to me. And right now, we should get that... here's the forecast from the NWS in Tampa:

Glad to hear from ya, bud! Hope you have a great rest of your trip!

There's no reason to wonder about me. I was just providing you with some quotes from an article about the UCC because you had previously asked why there was a change in their position, and it seems to me after reading that there isn't a change, they were just going ahead and making it official.
-
tex, a couple quotes from an AP story about the UCC's decision: Therefore, yes, I think this is more of a "we're going to make this stance now" not "we had this stance, now we have this one." As the AP reports, they've been supportive of homosexuals for a while. It also sounds to me like these are just general guidelines set forth by the General Synod that obvious the individual churches can chose to or not to follow.
-
All honest questions here: Where is the Bible so clear besides Leviticus? Specifically, what did Jesus have to say about it? I may be wrong, but I don't think he had anything to say about it. Someone plese do correct me if I'm wrong.
-
tex, if you'll read ERA's commentary before the article he posted, that's more what I was responding to. He said that our country is losing its moral backbone (yes, I read the post... I didn't quote him exactly, but don't tell me I didn't read the post) and that is what was the basis of my first post. As far as the UCC's decision - I would say it wasn't really a change of position, more of making a stance in writing. Another thing about them, not all churches have to go with this. It's like the Code in Pirates of the Carribean... it's more like a guildline. TSF, I'm glad you have your beliefs and are firm in them. That is admirable.

Any religion? I have a friend who is not a Christian and she is most definitely not of the belief that homosexuality is a sin. Actually, I know for a fact you can find many Christians that feel homosexuality isn't a sin.
