  1. That's very true about the passing game. I can't remember how many attempts they were but not many. I missed the long pass to Murray (too many people in my way!) but from what I heard it was typical. And then right before the key pass to Jared I had just told wesvols to look out for him. When he gets his hands on the ball, he can make a good play. Sure enough, next play to Holland. But hey, as a Franklin fan, I was not biting my nails. It was more like wearing a hole in their track from pacing back and forth until we got 21. Too bad you players didn't see all the pregame hoopla though. It was amazing. I think it'll be even better this week with Brentwood though.
  2. OK, time to move on from the Centennial win and onto the Bruins. I believe that again this week the edge goes to Franklin. I know they're will be some of you that disagree. I hope everyone understands now that FHS has a balanced offense. After a couple huge games from the passing game, the running game picked up the slack in the CHS game. 97 passing yards compared to nearly 250,275 rushing yards. So if you stop one aspect of the offense, the other part gets the job done. Brentwood has to stop the WHOLE offense. But to do that, you have to shut down the individual players. More than a dozen Rebels have touchdowns this season. Very difficult to key on one player. Brentwood needs to keep the penalties down and be more disciplined if they want to win. They did this last night against Giles County. The Franklin D has to do that same thing. Brentwood is decently balanced on offense, but I think Franklin can shut them down. I think the excitement for this game will be better than last night. Easily seven to eight thousand people could show up. The game's playoff implications are incredible. Not just region championship wise but also seeding wise. The Rebels could be looking at several home playoff games in the playoffs if they win out. The game is sure to be a battle but Franklin wins. FHS 35 BHS 14
  3. I agree. Certainly an off night for the Rebel offense. Lowest production besides the Lincoln Co. game (point wise). But hey, I also agree they have a good chance at state. Things are exciting in Franklin.
  4. Well, I've already posted on another thread but aw heck, why not post again? WAY TO GO REBELS! What an exciting atmosphere for high school football. It was great! The pregame excitement, wow, left goosebumps on me. I have to say, while it was exciting to be a FHS fan tonight, it was also fun to watch Centennial's fans, especially after they scored their TD. They went NUTS. It was awesome. Again, to the Rebels that post on here: congratulations, guys and we're all proud of you! It's so much fun to watch you all play. Keep up the good work. 7-0 is amazing!
  5. As I just mentioned on another thread, Franklin put up 58 I think against Clarksville in a steady downpour. I can't remember the breakdown (running/passing) of the TD's but Franklin does have a good running game. They are balanced. If they have to run the ball, they'll be able to. Franklin's offense has a pretty good mix, but I think they do pass a little more to open it up for the run game! They have very solid and tall recievers which make it tough! Not to mention the QB is fast and very illusive! You mention that the QB is hard to take down. Lord, he makes me nervous sometimes but I think he's only been sacked a handfull of times (everytime I say "get rid of it, Josh! is when he gets sacked lol). He is one heck of a QB, very good. Way to go Rebs! 28-7!
  6. Ah! Way to go Rebels!!! It was a very exciting game tonight at Centennial. I too was suprised by how few points Franklin scored but Centennial's D wasn't bad at all. There must have been 5,000 people at CHS tonight, great atmoshpere for high school football. Hope the players enjoyed, cause I assure you that the fans did. To the Franklin players that get on this board, way to go guys! You really did make all of your fans proud. Well, you had before tonight or we wouldn't have shown up in droves like we did. I know y'all appreciate it too. We'll be there next week, louder. Good luck against Brentwood!
  7. if they do want to change it (which i don't think is the majority) then they should at least wait till after the 100 year anniversary of the school here in 2011
  8. I heard that they were dropping the "rebel" soldier from their city logo's but the name would stay the same at the high school for the forseeable future, but who knows how far politicaly correctness can go. Willie Dickerson is a friend of mine and I know see will do the right thing, but there will be a lot of forces lining up to force change in the future. Who knows where this thing will end up! Check out today's addition of the Williamson A.M. and it should clear things up for you. Basically it says that it was just a rumor and there is no basis to it at all. Which is a good thing because it wouldn't seem right without Franklin being called the Rebels!
  9. As I just mentioned on another thread, Franklin put up 58 I think against Clarksville in a steady downpour. I can't remember the breakdown (running/passing) of the TD's but Franklin does have a good running game. They are balanced. If they have to run the ball, they'll be able to.
  10. Did Franklin score 58 against Clarksville? I honestly can't remember. I know they were up there. Yeah, that was in a steady downpour all night. So don't let the forecast change your pick Wes. Although it will be quite wet. So I guess we won't be seeing you out there???
  11. Fields can be expensive to repair though, you know? And since many teams have already played in heavy rains on their field, they may not be able to withstand another event like that. Just my thought...although I like it played in the rain, too.
  12. Oh yes, a very bold prediction, I agree. I hope it is a closer game for excitement's sake but a Franklin blowout would not suprise me one bit. I wouldn't mind it either, being a Franklin fan. But if it is a closer game, and even if Centennial wins, that wouldn't suprise me either. So allow me to take another stab at this and take my liking for Franklin out of the picture... Franklin 35 Centennial 31 Wouldn't be anything much better than a high scoring affair to please the thousands of people who show up for this one.
  13. You know, I once had someone tell me that I was crazy for calling this game the Battle of Franklin. I wonder what he would say this year. This game by far, on paper, has to be the best FHS-CHS matchup ever! I agree that there will be thousands upon thousands of people there. It should be exciting. I feel the edge has to be given to the Rebels. The Rebel offesne will have to capitalize everytime they get the ball. If they do that, I don't think Centennial has a chance. Franklin's defense will be able to handle the Cougars well and I don't expect that Centennial will put many points on the board. The only reason McGavock got 21 was because of the first half "relapse" by Franklin. I say it will be a good game, but Franklin wins big. Franklin 48 Centennial 14
  14. I guess I'd have to agree with you, although I might put Centennial ahead of BGA. But maybe you're waiting for the BGA-G'pasture game to make a decision like that. I have a feeling BGA may get blown away this afternoon, but hopefuly I'm wrong. I too think that Franklin will roll this week, but it will be an awesome game! They need to play a little better than they apparently did last night. Although I wasn't there and if FHSte84 or one of the Franklin player's on here would tell me how the game went, I'd appreciate it. I think you have the BA-McCallie game a little lopsided. I think it'll be close and come down to the kicking game, so BA wins.
  15. My thoughts and prayers, too, are with his family and the entire Forrest community. An event like this certainly does put everything in perspective. I'll speak on behalf of your neighbors to the north in Williamson County and we pray that God give you strength durring this terribly hard time.
  16. I'm sorry, you're correct. I hung around with a private school fan all last year, and I guess he brainwashed me into believe that it was never a good game. How wrong I was in making that last post. I had forgotten about the 13-7 and 21-20 games. I guess what I should have said is this game could have really important implications where some of the others in the past were not AS important. Again, I appologize, I did just make myself look like a fool.
  17. Next week we play Centennial...but hey, it should be as good as a game as the Brentwood game. For once, the Battle of Franklin will be a true contest. We'd love to have you stay in town and see the Rebels.
  18. all i have to say is...wait until the end of the year. when playoff time rolls around, franklin will not be a top team. i am positive of this. year after year, franklin gets hyped up, but when its time to back it up, they do not. they have nothing to build on, no big recruits, no big championships, just some hopeful fans year in, year out. No my friend, you're wrong. Franklin has not been "hyped up" in quite a while. When was the last time they started 5-0? I don't remember it. No, they don't have big recruits but what they have is great senior leadership and talent spread over the field. No, they don't have any superstars. That's a plus for the Rebels. But you know, they'd rather you think that they're not gonna do anything, so you just go on thinking that.
  19. Well, Wes, you've made my day. I knew if we ever made it to number 2 on your list that would be the best we could do for you. HAHA! Well too bad your Eagles scheduled a game for Friday or I'd invite you along to see the Rebels in person. Well, you'll be able to see them in the playoffs hopefully.
  20. You're right, and you're right. Both Franklin and Franklin are the Rebels...so it'd be good to say "Go Franlin Rebels!"
  21. No, it's at McGavock...Franklin's second half of the season only has one home game (Brentwood).
  22. Woah, is this Wesvols giving my Rebels credit? Or is he just saying that McGavock is bad??? Haha. I wonder where you have them ranked in Williamson County now Wes. Surely higher than BGA, so at least third, right???
  23. That's true, I guess it would take away from the fun if we couldn't pass judgement. I don't think the guys are great because they're 4-0. I think they're great because they're playing great football, and doing it as a team. Everything that fhste84 said about the team, I think, makes Franklin a good team. Trust me, I don't have a big head. Well, physically I do (size 8 lol), but I'm just a fan who realizes that sure, my Rebels could get beat one night, just like any team (hello Riverdale). But even though I realize that, I honestly don't think they will. I see an undefeated regular season. But I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the Rebs do on the field.
  24. Woah woah woah, buddy. There is no way to say that. Are the two teams going to take on each other this season? No. So can we accurately say that one is the better than the other? No. Trust me, I understand that BA is a very talented team. Franklin is as well. BUT, you CAN NOT say that either is the better than the other. While a game doesn't always prove which one is better, it's the only almost certain measuring stick. But to take what you said, I think the Rebels could most certainly hold their own with BA. BHS did, and I don't think that BHS and FHS are too different. I would say FHS is better than the Bruins, but again, they havne't played yet. Ah, I've wasted too much time on your silly comment.
  25. I agree, this thread isn't necassary because Kody IS the best punter in the state. Yes, this is coming from a Rebel fan. David is an excellent kicker. However, he's only a sophomore, and isn't quite up to the numbers of Bliss. David does have a promising future though, but I really don't think that you can make a legit case for him being the best in the state.
