  1. In A/AA, I would watch out for Columbia Academy. They are returning every single player next year. Kade Morgan is one of the top attacking players I have seen at his age.
  2. Has Clarksville Academy lost or tied this season?
  3. Coniglio, FYI, Fairview's "tie" with Ensworth was a preseason scrimmage game. I would hardly count that against them. Having seen them play. I stand by my ranking. Also, Lipsocmb and Hume played already. lipscomb won 1-0. Plus, lipscomb does not play Ravenwood in the regular season. Notre Dame has more than a "few" losses. They were crushed by CCS and the tie to Red Bank is a bit suspect. While not losing, CAK did tie a A/AA team which in my opinion was not a top twenty team.
  4. My Rankings after tonight's games for a/aa: 1-CCS 2-Fairview 3-Boyd 4-Kingsbury 5-Alcoa 6-Hixson 7-CPA 8-Clarksville Academy 9-CAK 10-Lipscomb 11-Hume Fogg 12-Columbia Academy 13-MLK 14-Notre Dame 15-Marshall County 16-Spring Hill 17-Dyersburg 18-Westview
  5. First off, kudos to BarcaFan for the Cobra Kai reference. Nice! There is a difference between running the score up and scoring a lot of goals. I think the original situation were the team was already 7-0 up and the original forwards were put in to score more is unacceptable. However, I AM NOT in favor of not allowing JV players the opportunity to fully play the game because the score is high. Normally at a score of 4 or 5 goals up, I change the position of my starters and bring some of my subs in to play their positions. I like this because my starters get to work on different aspects of their game and the subs get time they may not get against higher quality opponents. After a couple more goals and if possible, all starters are out, all subs are in, and goalkeepers are playing the field. If we continue to score, I am sorry but I would not pull back. I truly believe that when your weakest players are in they should be given the opportunity to learn and show what they got. As a player, I know when someone is just patronizing me, and that is more embrassing than get crushed. This year I was blessed/cursed with a 30 player roster and a high number of seniors and freshman. At 4 goals up, most of my starters were off the field and JV was on so that I could build for next year. If more of my starters were returning, I probably would have had them move positions first, but I felt we needed to get the newer players more time for next year. Next year may be different. Either way I may slow things down but I would not change the style of play.
  6. Ok here is my top 18 at the end of the week with the results that have been posted: 1-CCS 2-Kinsbury 3-Hixson 4-Fairview 5-Boyd 6-Hume Fogg 7-CPA 8-Columbia Academy 9-CAK 10-Notre Dame 11-Alcoa 12-Clarksville Academy 13-MLK 14-Marshall County 15-David Lipscomb 16-Spring Hill 17-Dyersburg 18-Martin Westview
  7. Reaction, To my knowledge Kingsbury, Hixon, Marshall County, and Clarksville Academy are all undefeated, and of those Kingsbury is the only one with a tie. I have yet to see some of today's results. We played Columbia Academy last night. They have a very good team. Kade Morgan was a very high quality player. I thought the 2-0 score was a little unreflective of the game since one of the goals was a god awful call by the ref for a pk, and the first goal was a huge mistake by our keeper who could have stayed at home and made an easy save, but these things happen. CA played a great game. What is unbelievable is that they do not have a single senior on the team. I will wait to give my rankings until this weekend's games are over. A lot of good games to be played.
  8. Tom, I love your comment. Very Classy. Congrats to your player. I hope he is at full strength soon. Friday might be the first game since our first game that I have all my top players available, and with our stretch run we will need it. We have had to start our 5th string defenders in a couple of games. And even though we have had only 2 goals against this season, I have not felt we have played to our potential in any game this season. Hopefully, they will sort it out.
  9. Ok lot of comments so this may be a little long. At this point, the top AAA and D2 teams have dominated a/aa, and by that I mean the only WIN a A/AA team has against a potential top 25 AAA or D2 team is CCS's win against Science Hill. Since I only have results to go by and have not seen a lot of teams play, it is a fine line to rank a team based on record versus quality of team played. Prime example is Butler University basketball. Should they have received a lower seed since they played in a lesser conference? In the end, we found out they could have played with anyone and could have been a higher seed. In the end, a loss is a loss. Perhaps they were close games, maybe one team played for a result and packed in to keep the score down, or perhaps one team dominated but was unlucky to score. To really evaluate teams, you have to be at the games otherwise you are just speculating. Games are coming up soon to sort things out. While I have the utmost respect for CAK, I don't think their results make them top 4 right now. I appreciate the fact that they always make great runs in the playoffs, but the rankings are for the way people are playing right now. And I would never count on people recovering from injury. Even if they are healed, it does not mean they are match fit or they will have the mental toughness needed. Unless you are the government, you have to work with what you have in the hand and not do things on what you MAY have in the future. As for Hume Fogg, they are 8-1 and while the loss to White House is a bit suspect they have beaten a good MLK team. I think we will know a lot about them and Fairview tomorrow night when they play. For anyone who is there, I would love to have a full report as my team is going to play Fairview soon and would like to know more about them. So as it stands, my top 4 RIGHT NOW are as follows: 1-Kingsbury 2-CCS 3-Boyd 4-Hume Fogg Outside of them, I would not want to have to play CAK, Alcoa, CPA, Fairview, or Notre Dame in the playoffs. As I said, let see more games. I think upcoming results will clear up the picture.
  10. Coniglio, While I have watched your posts for a couple of years now and have great respect for your opinions. I do feel you are wrong. While CAK and Alcoa were tops last year, this is a new year. Players have graduated or moved or etc. The quality and makeup of a team can change drastically. I think you have to go on this year's results. And by that, I had kingsbury 1 and CCS 2. I agree Boyd should be in the top 10. But Hume deserves to be where they are. They were semi-finalists last year too since you like to look at previous years results.
  11. BigG, I'd give the coaches a little more time. As I said in my email, there is a lot of soccer to play and get sorted. Just look at the Boyd-CPA game that will definitely change my order. Perhaps, coaches were waiting until the end of the week. You did ask for the rankings on Sunday.
  12. Spring Hill and CA was postponed to April 16th
  13. I was a bit surprised at the results of teams from this district so far. Did Page lose a lot of their team or have had some injuries this year? What about MTCS? Why have they struggled so far? And, what about Cascade and Marshall Co.? Did they have some players move into the area to beef up the team? I am really surprised at their records.
  14. Elmer, I am curious. What teams would you drop down or out? And, what teams would you add or move up?
  15. I agree with HFSteeler. If you are going to make a complaint, you need to be more specific. I would make some changes in AAA and A/AA though. In A/AA, I would push Kingsbury to #2 since they did beat CPA head to head. I might move Alcoa up a little based on the fact that their losses are all to ranked AAA or D2 teams. But, I would not move them too high since they do have losses. Beyond that I think the a/aa are pretty fair. I do believe the districts are a little weaker in a/aa so I could see some padded records, but what can teams do when they have to play their district and some districts are quite larger than others. In AAA, I would move Franklin ahead of Cenntennial and Brentwood, and I would move Ravenwood up and ahead of Cenntennial. What a district with all but one team in the top 11 and deserving to be there!
  16. Spring Hill's JV tied Culleoka 2-2 in the first game.

  20. What makes me think Page can win? Well, I have seen both teams play. Note I have the score as a close game as I think it will be. And, I think Page has played a tougher schedule and is more prepared for a tougher game than CA. You can flip your logic around and say CA lost to Spring Hill, and Page beat them twice. But that would be just as faulty since some teams just match up better against certain teams. Opinions were asked for and I gave mine.
  21. Page over CA 1-0 MTCS over East Hickman 4-0
  22. My question is why is there a question of bending the rules if they do not have a rule prohibiting coaches coaching select in their bylaws? Secondly if the parents want to pay a coach to train their child outside of school voluntarily, how can TSSAA have the right to deny them that and deny the coach income?
