Wheather Union City makes it to the Boro or not, there is certainly tradtion in the purple and gold. Winners of 3 GOLD BALLS 90, 92, and 97, (wins over MLK,Knoxville Austin East, and Memphis Melrose, led by Cedric Wilson, who is playing in tomorrows Super Bowl) i cant think of a better run since the 97 team in any state tourney. South Fulton won a state championship a few years ago. The 3rd school in Obion County would be the REBELS of Obion Central,who won the state championship 20 years ago in what some call the biggest upset in state tourney history over ,Knoxville Austin East. Led by Cannon Whitby,yes the son of Lake County coach,Jimmy Whitby. and by the way he graduated from Union City, and is in the Union City Hall of fame.All three schools from this county have won state championships. Not bad.................

whoever comes out of west tennessee, whether it be defending champion Middelton, former AA Union city or Humboldt, Lake County or Middle College; will absolutely run away with the state championship...very good A teams across the state, but they are light years behind the west! I am so glad the west is not getting any attention in the polls, it will light a fire under these west tn teams and motivate them to bring home the gold

If you get to the region tourney, all you have to do is win the semi-final match to advance to the state tourney...I was wondering, does richie goodenow still bowl for Overton? If so, does anyone know his average? good luck to all region participants....high schools that do not partcipate in bowling, they do not realize how exciting matches can be, whether girls or boys.... Since conception of TSSAA involvement, I've had the privilege of having two sons bowling in the State tournament at Smyrna...one, 3 years at Lavergne, the youngest at Smyrna... After 4 years, the class teams, the best bowlers, best coaches, best fans who are informed and knowledgeable about this sport are as follows: Hendersonville Mt. Juliet LaVergne Smryna Spring Hill Columbia Soddy Daisy Hardin County Kirby Munford Germantown JCM Overton This is a great sport for participants and fans... bowling deserves this and earns great respect from a normal 3-sport guy (baseball, basketball, and football)

The last two state tourneys have produced runner-ups from columbia and spring hill... it will be interesting to see who will survive the region tourney with both LaVergne and Smyrna coming to Columbia for the Region championship. Does anyone know the date?

UC needs to covcentrate on improving execution of kicking game, defense, passing game and defending the pass to have success in the "second season", the play-offs. These bext two games are gimmes, pray that nobody gets hurt and execution improves. The Golden Tornado nation has spoken!!
