  1. Knox Central vrs Volunteer game scheduled for Sat. Dec 20 at LMU was cancelled because of weather. No known rechedule date at this point.
  2. Tn Wesleyan is in Athens, Tn. About 1/2 way between Knoxville and Chattanooga. NAIA school. From what I can tell he is happy and doing well.
  3. Central was done in by Clinton's depth and size last night. The Bobcats led thru 1/2 the 3rd qtr. then forgot how to pass against the press. Their inexperience and lack of patience showed. Then when Clinton started going inside every time down, Central had no answer for Morris, Freeman and Vibbert. Vibbert finished with 24, mostly on runouts with passes from Morris. Clinton did a good job on Conner, keying on him and holding him to 10 points. I'm pretty sure he did get his 1st double/double of the year with almost every defensive rebound in the 1st half. Brandon McGill had a good shooting night with 14 points. Central seemed to key on Whitt early on on and he struggled shooting all night and didn't get many open looks. One of the more entertaining plays of the night was Conner's block of a Vibbert dunk late in the game.
  4. Don't leave Bustamonte(?) or Blair open. Blair has an ugly shot but he can fill it up if he's open. If Webb had a big guy they could compete with most all of the AAA schools. Their center looks young and needs to put on some pounds but he didn't seem to make a lot of mistakes.
  5. I got the oppertunity to see John Austin play last year and was impressed. How is he doing this year? Is it his senior season? Is he getting any consideration from any colleges?
  6. Around Knoxville you have to consider AE, Fulton, Oak Ridge, Maryville and Anderson Co. Jeff Co seems to be having an up year in football and basketball.
  7. Thanks, Chill... is that half of the field (is there really 16?)
  8. Central played what was easily their best game of the year tonight with a 74=69 win over Karns. What looked like a two man show at times with Zach Conner and KIL leading scorer Jody Fersner turned on whose help played the best. Conner finished with 31 (12 in the 4th) and Fersner finished with 24. Shipwash for Karns had 5-3's and 19 points. Central got double figures from Brandon McGill -12, and Zach Helton -11, and 12 from Ben Williamson 8 of which were in the 4th qtr. Most of the minutes for the Bobcats are taken by a good group of sophs. Several college coaches were in attendance. At least tonight, things are good in Fountain City. Finals tomarrow!!!
  9. Saw a great high school game last night at Oak Ridge. Maryville 74 Oak Ridge 73. Both teams had a chance at the end and Zach Guilmire's half court heave at the buzzer wouldn't go. Andy Tipton proved to be a tough match up for any of the Ridgers. He had 5 3's in the first half, some from way beyond the arc. At 6'6 or 7", Andy is tough to match outside. He simply shoots over anybody with a high, quick release. Carson Newman coaches were watching their signee and smiling. Tyler Gaskin continued to have his usual quiet but great game. You might not notice him scoring a lot of points but at the end of the game he had 18, lots of rebounds and several steals. Oak Ridge's Guilmire leads a bunch of underclassmen and his poise and ability to get them where they are supposed to go, makes them a solid club. He also stroked several 3's last night. At times, it seemed that every one of the Wildcats were stroking 3 pointers. It looked like a Tn. Breakers reunion in the stands as Greg Gibson and Tim Torrence of Farragut, Tyler Jones of Halls and Zach Conner from Knox Central were watch their teammates Guilmire, Gaskin and Tipton. It's nice to get a Monday game every once in a while so high school players can watch other teams.
  10. Let me get my coin out.... If the game is Monday, and I can get back in town I,ll try to see you there! Is Sherrod still out? That is a great bunch of kids and I enjoyed watching them on and off the court this summer. Good luck to all.
  11. We were talking tonight that TSSAA should go back to 2 refs because there are not enough good refs around to do 3 on a Friday or Tuesday.
  12. Programs like YOMCA have a lot to do with their success.
  13. Not to be confused with Zach Conner????
  14. Anybody have a schedule. I did find out games start Monday instead of Tuesday.
  15. All I'm saying is its hard to evauluate tallent if you've never seen them play and this was represented as a state evual list.
  16. Looks to me, that if Karns is on they will be tough. The only thing is the 3's won't fall all the time. They do have some shooters though and they are not afraid to put it up.
  17. Rage, I'll bet you a big 10 burger they win more than 8. Of course I'll have to have a cold adult beverage also.
  18. Rebelsman, maybe after tomarrow night you'll have Tyler back to settle things down........
  19. let me guess...Bolus is from Memphis
  20. South-Doyle 51 Central 39. Central led for a good portion of this game. It was very close until SD made their free throws down the stretch. Again, turnovers were the Bobcats downfall. Losing Lusk (their only post on the current roster) to fouls in the 3rd, really hurt. South-Doyle didn't look as strong and Central didn't look as bad as I expected. When soph Ben Williamson doesn't play hesitant, he makes some incredible plays. He's going to be a quality player. Central has to get better leadership from their seniors. Conner has to help on the boards and not just be content to hang at the 3 line. Several SD fans commented on the coaching job Lambert is doing with these kids. When they get a few games under their belts the Bobcats should be competetive. South-Doyle really missed Burroughs when he went out early with foul trouble. He is the glue that holds SD together. King played a good game, he took what was there and didn't make many mistakes. At the foul line..SD 15/24...Central 2/2
  21. Looks like South-Doyle has Cosby on their schedule in Jeff. Co. Also heard Morristown East is playing, can anybody confirm this?
  22. Way to come thru there Rage. In the jamboree, at least half of Catholics points were directly off turnovers. If you hand it to the other team on the wing over and over you are going to get killed. They are capable of playing defense and WILL be pretty good at it by midseason. I know Carter isn't the strongest team around but Central limited them to 6 free throws (no baskets) in the 2nd half of a scrimmage Sat. There are two football players that will make a big difference. DJ Smith is the best on ball defensive stopper and Lee Smith is big enough to keep people honest in the paint. DJ gives another slasher and Lee is a scorer from almost anywhere on the court. Right now everybody loads up on Conner and doesn't worry about anybody else. So, I think things will be different soon, although they possible could play 3 more weeks of football.
