  1. Jacket24, I guess your looking hard for a job........ tons will open up at the end of the season......
  2. great job UC. I agree very tuff to win a conf. with 0 losses... Nobody can take that away. The cyclones did that with Coach Hardin going undefeated 2 straight years in the conf. and now the Devels go 2 straight years..... That is very tuff becuase sometimes all of the players are not ready to play or you go somwhere away and get some crappy calls...... Great Job UC big Accomplishment!!!!!! Good luck to you guys in the tournament.....
  3. that is funny did somebody really screw up? So are they the Beavers??? I really don't know..
  4. Good Luck to the UC team. Great team game that has a chance to make some noise.......
  5. Great win for the team and Coach Hardin!!!!!!!! Here is an article from the Daily Times Seconds to spare: Heritage boys eke way past Tornadoes Wes Hope/The Daily Times Heritage’s Michael Haynes puts up the game-winning 3-pointer over Alcoa’s Brian Sommer Tuesday night to give the Mountaineers a 63-61 win over the Tornadoes. By Leonard Butts of The Daily Times Staff Down by one point at Alcoa with 10.3 seconds left Tuesday night, the Heritage Mountaineers gathered around coach Tony Hardin, knowing they had one chance left to pull off the upset. The problem was point guard and 3-point ace Dustin Brown couldn't run the offense or get open for a shot. Having injured an ankle in the fourth quarter, he leaned on crutches and watched the proceedings. Hardin, however, had little doubt about who he wanted to have the ball. Michael Haynes had scored 19 points and was running the offense in Brown's absence. "Fortunately, I got it where I had a little room to work," Haynes said. "I was a little deep but I just went for it." From beyond the arc, Haynes' shot swished through the net, bringing Heritage fans to their feet. With only 1.6 seconds remaining, the 63-61 victory seemed secure, but officials decided to add some time to the clock and Alcoa had one last opportunity. As the cheers of Mountaineer fans turned to boos, Alcoa's Randall Cobb raced the length of the court and dished to Kyrus Lanxter but the buzzer sounded before his shot caromed off the iron. "(Dustin's) our leader," Haynes said. "When he goes down, we all got to step up and somebody's got to make up for his scoring and I tried to do that for him. "It wasn't really pressure. It was giving me an opportunity to step up and that's something I really wanted for the team." For Hardin, whose team has lost second-half leads and struggled to finish this season, the win was especially satisfying. Heritage (10-14) started strong, fell back 30-27 at the half, and then built an 11-point lead in the third quarter only to see it dwindle in the fourth. But this time there was no denying the Mountaineers. "Coming into a new program, you've got to change your mentality a little bit and be an aggressive team in the fourth quarter," Hardin said. "Sometimes, we'll get into that passive, not to lose attitude. We've been working on that and I thought tonight we played to win in the fourth quarter." Haynes finished with a game-high 22 points on the night, including four 3-pointers. But his most important contribution may have been helping to run the offense down the stretch when the lead changed hands five times before the winning shot. "When Dustin went down, that was huge because he's the guy we go to in (those situations)," Hardin said. "But Haynes had had a great night and he's a competitor, so we went to him." Brown made his contribution by scoring 14 points before being sidelined. Charlie Hardwick added 13. Alcoa was led by Lanxter's 15 points, Cobb scored 11 and Taylor Brown had 10, but the Tornadoes struggled offensively for three quarters against the Heritage defense. The Mountaineers jumped in front 8-1 as the game opened and led 22-11 at the end of the first quarter. When Alcoa rallied to take the lead, 30-27, by holding Heritage to a five-point second quarter, the momentum appeared to shift. But the Mountaineers came out of the locker room at full throttle to mount a 16-2 run and go up 43-32 with 56 seconds in the third quarter. With Brown out, however, Alcoa managed to get into transition and produced a 17-0 run that spelled doom. Heritage wasn't buying it. The game was then nip and tuck until the end. Michael Gresham provided two crucial free throws with 48 seconds left, and Haynes scored eight of the final 10 points for his team.
  6. NAIA D1 is 12 full rides and they can split it up. NAIA D11 is 6 Fulls and they can split is up. But every school is not funded fully. Most are way under budget. NCAA D1 is 12 Full Rides. and Maryville is the highest cost in the state of TN and it is right at 31,000 a year no way is Carson Newman that high.
  7. Coach Hardin is now at Maryville Heratige and making some great noise in Knoxville.
  8. Elizabethton does not have a basketball progam anymore. I played for the cyclones for a coach that built a progam and helped the kids grow up and become men on and off the floor. That is now lost at Elizabethton.
  9. I think that Coach Tony Hardin a longtime coach in East Tn is looking into this job. He is all of what it sounds like you need. He could really build another program. He did it at Elizabethton High school and has been coaching for over 25 years.
  10. Great season guys, I just want to thank you guys for taking Ben Hardin in and making him one of your on. he loves the Devils and will always be greatful for this step in his life. Great year Devils and congrads to Colton and Ben. I can't wait to have you guys with me next year in college at Bluefield.
  11. Ben Hardin for the Devils in East TN they are ranked top ten in the state all year and he is a great shooter and a coaches son so he has spent alot of time in the gym. Ben hit 6-8 agianst his old school Elizabethton. Really good catch and shoot has great range and shoots the step back three off the dribble. I think he is leading the East Tn in 3 point % and in FT %. Great Shooter that has spent plenty of time in the gym with that shot.
  12. This should be a war. Good Luck to the Devils! I feel the little bro Ben Hardin well have a monster game back in the old gym where we have shot together a million shots. GOOD LUCK BEN AND HAVE FUN!
  13. yes, you are right Countryboy. I am glad that some other sports are doing well. I think the football team will come around and get the pride back. I was a football guy too. I think coach pless is a great man and will get that team back on track very soon. I am glad for the other athletics and I was raised a CYCLONE but those days are long gone for me to give any support.
  14. Yes I agree with the statement that CYCLONE PRIDE is a thing of the past. I am a past player and the wall in the locker room was ours. We took great pride in that and really put some thought into what we wanted up as a senior. You just painted over some big-time players quotes. Yes I went to Elizabethton at a great time with winning and pride in all of our sports with Football, Basketball and Baseball. That time is long gone for myself and others. They just took that away with the fire of Coach Hardin who installed great pride in CYCLONE Basketball and in the whole School of Elizabethton. He taught players basketball but more about life and how to deal with frustration. When Elizabethton lost him they lost the Tradition of CYCLONE basketball. Coach John Treadway started the tradition and Coach Dugger kept it up with Discipline. When I was little Elizabethton athletics was everything. Coach Hardin got the Name on the floor of John Treadway to keep this Tradition going and Coach Dugger and coach Hardin Kept the same old desk of John Treadway's to keep something who started it. Elizabethton Athletics are a joke now. You fired the Coach That loved E-town with a son that grew up loving everything about Elizabethton who's life changed and had to move schools. Coach Hardin Record speaks for itself, But more than that just talk to past players of his and they will tell you how much they love Etown and playing for coach Hardin. I took great pride in putting on the orange and black jersey. That is the thing of the past now. Here is my qoute that was on the wall that is forgotten now. "PLAY FOR THE NAME ON THE FRONT NOT THE NAME ON THE BACK"
  15. Ben Hardin can shoot it. He is now at Unico County.
  16. Tyler Smith High School ( Giles County ) is not part of TACA. That means he cannot play because his coach did not sind in the paper work. That is two bad. They are some good players on both teams but the west is much stronger. The roster will be out sunday.
  17. The rosters are done and will be out Sunday.
  18. I was in 8th grade in 94 when Arron played and I also played for my dad in high school like him. I loved that state tourney when Arron won the Title as well as the MVP and gave the MVP to his dad on the floor. That is the best thing I have ever saw at the state tourney. He is a personal freind now and was my Idol growing up. I am glad that he is back to the show. From coach to coach good luck Arron.
  19. Good Luck Unaka and Good Luck Adam. You work very hard and also love basketball and support the Carter County teams aswell as Elizabethton and that is the way it should be. I like all of the players at Unaka and around the area this year because they all have should alot of class this year and did not get on this site and bash each other. Bring it back to Carter County. Elizabethton and all of Carter County are behind you guys!!!!!
  20. Elizabethton does have great tradition. Etown is also playing in 4A when they could almost be in 2A. They have 750 students. Happy Valley is almost the same size. E-town always has played with heart and class. We had a great run from 1995-2001. In 1997-1998 Elizabethton was very good and really finished 2nd in the state. Maryville beat them by 4 and one the state back to back while spaking the others in the state championship. The CYCLONES went to the Semis for 3 straight years playing up. Carter County should have great pride in their on team (Elizabethton, Hampton, Happy Valley, Cloudland, and Unaka) We need to support each other and quit trying to bring each other down. I love the PRIDE each team in the county has for their team that is whay this county is special. We should not mess that up by wanting the other to get beat. When we all win that makes CARTER COUNTY look so much better. Just look at the last 4 years in sports Elizabethton state semis 3 times (football) Cloudland State Runner up (football) Unaka state champs (basketball) Elizabethton State tourney (basketball) Happy Valley state playoffs ( football)
  21. E-town will play with alot of pride. I pick the cyclones in a close one. Do not be suprised if you see many cyclones at QB.
