  1. Will the games be played today or is the field too wet?
  2. I don't know this young lady, but I pray she will fully recover soon.
  3. A big plus that private & JUCO colleges have in recruiting is the student/teacher ratio. It's better to be a person in a smaller class than a body in an auditorium. This also equates to better relationships with fellow students, teachers & coaches.

  5. Actually Columbia won 8 this weekend. They won two pre-pool games Thursday.
  6. Columbia Central Lady Lions made it to the Elite Eight undefeated until Hixson knocked them out. GO LIONS!!! thumb

    Becky Tinsley

Columbia Central's Becky Tinsley will be on the Martin Methodist College Redhawks rosters in softball and soccer next season. MMC is a four year college in the NAIA. The 2004 softball team finished 23rd in the nation last year. So far this year the '05 softball team is 21-3. The '04 women's soccer team finished 8th nationwide with the 2nd place team knocking them out of the playoffs in California during a PK shootoff after double overtime. For more info on the signing or the teams you can go to www.goredhawks.com. Her mother and I are very proud of her. thumb
  9. Are there any weekend passes or only daily tickets?
  10. I don't know any of the other ladies on the team except Riley. I watched them some during the CHS playday games. They looked pretty good on the game I saw. Riley and my daughter Becky played on the same team a couple of years ago so I know her and her parents are deeply involved in sports and are top notch people. I heard she has several colleges trying to recruit her for her academic and athletic achievements. Good luck to the team and to Riley in her future. thumb
  11. If you are interested in seeing almost all of the 8AAA teams play, you should attend Columbia's Playdays on Friday & Saturday. Tullahoma & Franklin County are the only district teams that are not listed to play. There will also be many teams from other districts competing.
  12. Good luck Lady Wildcats! Congratulations on going to the state. Represent 8AAA well by playing your best and show good sportsmanship, win or loose. thumb
  13. Our season is over and my daughter is a senior, so I am sad to see it end. I hope Tullahoma or Shelbyville makes it to the state and represents 8AAA well. I wish the Columbia Lady Lions good luck next year. They have a very young and tallented team that will continue to get better in the upcoming years. We will still continue to support these young ladies and try to catch some home games next year. The Tinsleys GO LADY LIONS 2005!!!
  14. Good post tiredbbmom. I also commend those 9 that showed up to play a tough game. If all of them wasn't starters this year, they should be next year! Lack of discipline and teamwork has been the downfall of several teams that had tallented players. This goes for all sports. Your right on making rules and enforcing them. If you make a policy that they will sit the bench if they don't show up for a practice or game, except for a family emergency, you should stick to it even if it is your best player in a championship game. They will probably get mad and you may loose the game, but they probably won't miss any more. You see good college coaches doing this all the time.
  15. It may be your defense is running all over the field doing one on one coverage and getting tired out. Maybe they should try zone coverage and not stay on the same person and just cover their area. I am not a big fan on pulling full backs up past half of their side of the field when the ball is on the other end or having the fowards running back to their own goal. It just wears everybody out and nobody is there to accept a fast break in either direction.
  16. The only advice I can give you is simple, if you loose by a large margin it means your defense is not working. If you only loose by a point or two, your offense needs to step it up. If you win or tie, everybody is doing their job. Just remember, it is a team sport and everyone needs to play their best. All positions are important, if they weren't why would you need to be playing it? Most people only think of the offense and scoring but if your defense keeps the other team from scoring you can still end in a tie even if your offense doesn't score. A tie is a lot better than a loss.

    8 AAA

Does anyone know the district standings in 8 AAA? Also, does anybody know the district playoff schedule and where they will be played? Columbia Central High is 1-4 with a game against Franklin Co. still to be played.

  21. I have to start with a disclaimer that my reply is biased since I am talking about my daughter. Becky Tinsley #21 Columbia Central High is a very good mid-fielder. Her passes are accurate, good stamina, can score from a distance, and heads the ball well. She is a four year varsity starter, one of three seniors, and a co-captain of a very young and talented team. She has played soccer since she was 4 years old and hopes to play in college. This again is from a very proud dad. GO CHS LADY LIONS!!! thumb
  22. Does anyone know the dates & locations of the district playoff games?
  23. Hey eaglette#1, chill, I wasn't knocking your team. I was just stating how the game went. You Eaglette's can build your nest in the highest tree, but remember even the highest tree can be chopped down!
  24. The Shelbyville/Columbia game was played hard by both teams. The only score came from a defending kick in front of the goal by a Columbia player that came off her foot wrong and went into their own goal. This doesn't mean that Shelbyville couldn't have scored at that time if that hadn't happened, but they didn't score the goal themselves. It doesn't matter who kicked it in, it counted and Shelbyville won 1-0. Looks like both teams will go far this year. See y'all in the districts. GO CHS LADY LIONS!!! thumb
