  1. The Commercial Appeal has it wrong. It was Ivy Renfroe that pitched the 2nd game and won.
  2. Statistically speaking, the west hasn't trailed that much behind most of Tenn. If you look at State Championships, Chattanooga has the most to be proud of because 20% of their schools have won at least 1 in the last 20 years. Only 9% of Middle Tenn schools have won at least one, followed by East at 3% and West at 1%. Only 25 out of 351 softball playing schools this year have won one in the last twenty years, with 14 of those being multiple winners. When you look at it, it's really only certain programs that win State, i.e. Ezell, Soddy, Goodpasture, GPS. If winning state is your only criteria on how good one area is then you can't really say anyone besides the Chattanooga as a whole area has been tremendously successful. West Tennessee is definitely improving in softball with a lot of travel ball being played. Teams like Camden, Covington, and St. Benedict have been knocking on the door for years. It's just that a few certain softball programs have been in their way, just like the rest of the teams in the state.
  3. Actually Trinity has won two...
  4. You can't control who does or doesn't sign up for a tournament. You can't control the weather. Yes Goodpasture is one of the toughest teams in the state, but Creekwood, Dickson Co., Sycamore, Ravenwood, Friendship, etc. have all proven to be tough competition this year already. You didn't post the Riverdale tournament teams. I believe there were lots of contenders in that tournament. I'm just trying to figure out exactly who you feel these teams should be playing. They've played, would have played, or will play most of the top teams in the state. Riverdale, Beech, Soddy, GPS, Goodpasture, Ooltewah, Rossview, and St. Benedict were all teams that were listed in each of the tournaments the teams from West Tenn signed up for. Better yet, which tournament do you think they should have signed up for? Again: Camden signed up for Brentwood and MTSCA tournaments. Obion signed up for MTSCA and Soddy Tournament Houston signed up for Riverdale Tournament and Franklin Tournament Trinity signed up for Riverdale and Franklin Tournaments Collierville signed up for Franklin Tournament Your statement is just false.
  5. Please do some research before you post. Trinity was scheduled to play in the Riverdale Tournament this year, it got rained out for the most part except Sunday. They're playing in the Franklin Tournament(Collierville and Houston too) this year as well. They have TRIED to play in the Hendersonville Tournament the two years before this one, and most of the games got rained out. Camden and Obion played in the MTSCA tournament with Rossview and Riverdale, who I believe are both VERY good teams. Camden also was scheduled to play in the Brentwood Tournament that got rained out this past weekend. Also Obion is playing in either Soddy or Ootelwah's tourney this year as well. So exactly which tournaments are these teams hand-picking to not face good competition? I believe those are some of the strongest tournaments in Middle TN. A lot of them are also playing in tournaments out of state, which I'm sure have some good teams in them as well. If you need and or want to look at a team's actual schedule, go to TSSAA.org. They have everyone's schedule; Coacht, while great, is not the end all be all for information.
  6. Umm Trinity, Camden, Collierville, Houston, Obion all come to mind as teams that traveled and signed up for Middle Tenn tournaments as well. Several other schools are signed up for the Waverly Tournaments, i.e Chester Co., Lexington, USJ. Whereas, it's true some schools don't care about softball; I'd bet the ratios of teams not caring in Middle and East Tennesse are about the same.
  7. I believe they are. Playing GPS, Hendersonville, and Allen Co.-Scottsville, weather permitting.
  8. Actually what you were saying is that Trinity won't have the luxury of having two stellar pitchers next year for single elimination tournaments. What the other poster was saying is that Anna has already shown she can hold her own against good teams this year. There's no reason to think that she can't do just as well next. Brooke is an awesome pitcher, and no one is taking away from her that she went the whole tournament. Huntingdon will go as far as she can take them.
  9. Brentwood, FACS, and Briarcrest also made it to State last year, which would make it 8 teams. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  10. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're a ST. Benedict fan, right? I can see why you guys kept your rooms cause it was a show of faith in your girls that you could come back and beat GPS twice. The same can be said for the TCA parents who wanted to show that they believed their daughters could win Friday. What message are you sending if you keep a hotel room IN CASE your daughter loses that night? That was last year, and it just goes to show you that different things can rub opposing fans the wrong way. Apparently, Trinity parents believing their girls could win happened to make the Forrest fans angry. I know I'll be there if both teams make it to play each other. However, Cornersville, Huntingdon, and a few other teams are hoping to crash that party!
  11. I hope so as well. You can only be the best if you beat the best. It's been a growing rivalry for a while now. For some reason there's just not a lot of good feelings. The first year TCA won over Forrest, someone yelled out that at least Forrest was Public school champions. Think that left a bad taste in people's mouths. Also people, including your hometown newspaper, thinking a parent should keep a hotel room just in case their child MIGHT lose; then continue rubbing it in your faces after you already won doesn't win you any friends either. Best of luck to Forrest, and I hope the Stinnett young lady heals. If I know the girls on Trinity's team, they've been practicing just as hard.
  12. I find it funny that you guys thought they should keep a hotel room just in case. They're not from down the road like Forrest. You guys won. Be gracious.
  13. Why are you such a bitter individual? Your coach said it was a great game that it was a shame that anyone had to lose. Stop being bitter and just support your team. Thanks!
  14. Not sure why they would be upset since he's talking about proximity to their region opponents, but go ahead and think that! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> USJ and JCS have always been able to draw better athletes to their schools than Trinity, hence all of their titles. Both are bigger, and they feel that Div. II is their best option. Good for them, but it doesn't mean Trinity has to follow suit. Anyway, maybe he's talking about playing smaller schools in their area that you don't have to travel to Memphis to play. Not everyone has deep enough pockets for that, especially with gas and the economy the way it is.
  15. Ummm I don't see anywhere in that statement that says those schools don't glorify God. Just saying that to that TEAM at that school that is their most important goal. Touchy much?
  16. What you're not getting is the fact that the "hype" isn't coming from playing in high school. It's coming from doing well at camps and combines with other good to great players around him. Yes playing against those teams that our bigger, emphasis on the word TEAM, while being on a 1A team he probably wouldn't get a lot done by himself. However, colleges are seeing the potential he has to be very good by the time he gets to college and are looking at him. I just think it's funny that people can't be happy for someone that is doing well, but instead try to tear them down. Guess it shows what kind of people you have in Jackson.
  17. I hope both teams play well and no one gets injured. I'm also proud of the fact that Trinity people aren't on here putting down USJ or any of their players. Good show of class! Jabriel will do well in everything he pursues. Apparently he won MVP at some National Combine in Memphis this past year, which put him on these colleges radar. I think they see him as more of a WR or LB in college, not a quarterback. Anyway, I guess haters will always hate, and it's usually by those who can't play.
  18. From what I understand, it was actually the Tennessean that broke the story. They called the Renfroes, saying we're glad to hear you may be coming to the area. I don't know what was said on/off the record, but they believed it to be a friendly phone call. The Jackson Sun, being in the same company as the Tennessean, got wind of the story and called Mr. Renfroe. In no way did they seek out the media or the attention for this story.
  19. They will be staying in Jackson at Trinity. Glad to hear it!
  20. Actually I was the one in that thread then, and I never actually accused YOU of spreading rumors. However, there were other people saying things in that thread that I took exception to. I also said that as of next year they said they would be at Trinity. I suppose things change, as well as memories of events. Oh well, best of luck to them.
  21. I know Christa Hutchison is going to play at Lee. Should be fun to see her and her sister go up against one another if/when Union and Lee play!

    Congrats Ali!

I have to say how proud of you I am. I've never in my life met someone as courageous and determined as you. You've experienced the death of a classmate, teammate, and friend. You've battled back problems, a broken thumb, torn Quad muscle, and two ACL tears in your high school career, and there you were down to the last out. More than that, you were the last Trinity player to leave the field. When no one else could stomach the loss and had to leave(including myself), you were there, not even shedding a tear. I'm so proud of you and your strength, and I know you're gonna do great things at Union! You're a class act, and I'm so very proud to have gotten the chance to watch you play your heart out on the field. Check out her last words: http://www.jacksonsun.com/apps/pbcs.dll/ar...329/1006/NEWS17
  23. The Renfroes will be back at Trinity next year, not enrolled at Webb.
  24. Wouldn't it be nice if it was just 0.8, but it's 1.8. 400 goes to 720. Maybe if you would sit down and actually LOOK at the facts, some of your preconceived notions might change.
