  1. Just like to congratulate the Lady Lions on their win against Madison last night. They played hard and did a great job against an awesome team behind Tournament MVP Crickett Glenn(freshman). Good luck in Regionals!
  2. I understand your point about getting whoever they want; however, alot of smaller private schools like Trinity have had to do with what they have as well. No one had a problem back when my sister and cousin played because they got smacked around by public and private alike. Now that they have had a little success, then they are recruiting? To ask someone like Trinity to play against someone like Briarcrest or Baylor or GPS brings up the same scenario as you are a proponent against: small schools against unfair advantages. The girls at Trinity have worked hard to get where they are at, just as hard as McKenzie and Chester Co.(who Trinity has lost players to) and Lexington and Camden. They are all good cause they work hard.
  3. Trinity starting line-up: Pitcher: Came in 5th Grade Catcher: Kindergarten 1B: 3rd Grade 2B: Kindergarten SS: 2nd Grade 3B: Kindergarten LF: 10th Grade CF: Kindergarten RF: 8th Grade If Trinity recruited, then they must have done something special. Not every school can tell how good a softball player is going to be in elementary school. Just because a school is successful doesn't mean they recruit.
  4. I agree Summertown should be very good this year; however, I don't know how much a 1-0 scrimmage game against Trinity(the day after one of their teammates died from meningitis) counts for much. I really hope they get to play at some point. It would be a great game.
  5. I think I will wait to put them in order until the season starts, but I will say that with the departure of the Nashville privates, this classification should be wide open. The Middle Tennessee squads are always tough so I expect them to be there in the end, and I really like Trinity out of the West with eight starters back from last year. Then again, someone else could surprise everyone, hence why games are played.
  6. I really do not know much about the Eastern side of the state except for what happened last year. Oliver Springs could do very well in the East as could University School of JC, along with Rockwood, or even Unaka.
  7. Forrest, Columbia Academy, Summertown, Friendship, Trinity, McKenzie, Lookout Valley, Rockwood, Whitwell, Huntington, in no particular order. I think one of these teams will come home with a State Championship.
  8. I fully expect McKenize to be there in the end. I think they lost Carpenter, but they still have Perritt and the Wests so they should do very well in A. I think Mckenzie and TCA could both represent the West at State very well(here's hoping they make it).
  9. Not sure how much Fayette lost from last year, but they are usually pretty tough. They were the only team in the district that beat TCA last year. Middleton is usually pretty decent as well. My guess is Fayette in 1st, followed by Middleton...I don't see either one of them having much competition until they get to Regionals with TCA, Adamsville, or Riverside.

    Distric 8a

I definitely think Friendship has a chance to win state, but a few teams a little further West might have something to say about that. Columbia Academy, Summertown, TCA and McKenzie should all be very tough.
  11. I have to say that TCA should be really good this year. They return 8 out of 9 starters this year(lost their starting second baseman to an ACL injury in December), so they should be pretty soild. Plus there is another Renfroe this year in 8th grade, who is suppose to be just as good a pitcher as her older sister.
  12. Trinity won the 2A bracket in 04 and the 3A bracket in 05. They are pretty fundamentally sound. Tonya Tuggles, former Bradford Ms. Basketball, is their coach.
  13. Just to name a few, in no particular order...Trinity, McKenzie, Huntington, Summertown, Columbia Academy, Forrest, Cornersville, Friendship, Lookout Valley, University School, Rockwood, Unaka, Gordonsville, Westmoreland. I am a Trinity fan and I know they have everyone returning next year(plus a few good 7th graders coming up) after barely missing out on the State Championship game this year. They have to be considered.
  14. I would like to congratulate Trinity's softball team on a great showing at state! You girls played your hearts out and made everyone proud. You guys withstood the sudden loss of your teammate, SB, and came together for a very special season. Third is nothing to hang your heads about, especially when everyone wrote you off. With everyone returning next year, your future is very bright! Way to go!
  15. Well I know this is not the case for all private schools, but I can give you an example of a private Christian school, TCA, who is making their first trip to state this year. Trinity, out of Jackson, may have 140 kids in their high school; they are one of the smallest single A schools out there. My sister played softball when Trinity just started fielding a team back in the mid to late 90s. I sat in the bleacher and watched schools, both public and private, wax them, 20-0, even though they played their hearts out. My sister never once complained that any of the teams she played against had unfair advantages over her because they had more talent or were a larger school. She just did her part to get better. As hard as she worked, she never won a district tournament or played on any state championship team. Some people might look at that as a failure, but now look what her hard work and the girls that played with her have layed for this year's team. Not everything in life is about winning or losing, it is about learning. I think to say that any team got to state by unfair means is taking away what these girls have all worked so hard for this year. I say let's just be happy that they get the chance to play a game that they love(like my sister did) and stop pointing fingers. Congrats to every team that made it to state and to every player that learned something this year through fastpitch softball!
  16. TCA wins 11-5! They will make their first state tournament appearance!
  17. They have some talented players on their team. I only know of when they played TCA, and they have lost to them by a combined score of 29-2 in three games. Still, they managed to go to regionals when they ended up 4th in the regular season standings so they must be playing pretty good ball right now.

Trinity beats USJ 11-1 for their first district tournament title! Congratulations Ladies!
  19. Trinity out of Jackson beat Hunters Lane, 12-2, with an 8th grader on the mound. They aso beat Franklin Co., 7-0, with a Freshman on the mound.
  20. Not to take anything away from South Fulton, but I would not count TCA out quite yet. They've got a solid team, and I think they have surprised some people so far this year. They may win or they may not win, but they're going to play like they have nothing to lose. They've already beaten JCM, North Side, Huntingdon, and Lexington; plus, they've only lost to one single A team this year, USJ. I'm not saying that they'll beat South Fulton, but I don't think that they're going to let South Fulton "roll into" Spring Fling, IMHO.
  21. I'm not exactly sure about their record, but someone told me that they are 7-5-2 after their second place finish at the Sports Plus Tourney this past weekend. They lost four games in Alabama at the beginning of the season but have won 7 and only lost one in TN so far. I believe they ended up third in the district standings last year but fell in the district tournament. This person told me that they're 3-0 in district as of right now, and they beat Adamsville this past weekend 1-0 in the tournament semi-finals. They have a lot of talent, but they are also very young. They don't have any seniors this year, and they start 6 underclassmen. They're definitely a program on the rise with a great bunch of middle school players coming in that went 28-3 this past fall.
  22. Brighton beat TCA 4-0 for the championship. I believe USJ won the consolation over Adamsville 5-2.
  23. Championship game: Brighton vs. Trinity Christian Academy Consolation: USJ vs. Adamsville
  24. Not sure what the final score was but I heard that Trinity beat Scotts Hill tonight by 11!
  25. Were you at the game? I've been looking for updates every once in a while on this game. Wow! I'm very happy for Trinity. They really deserve all they've accomplised so far. USJ always has good teams, and I was worried about the mental aspect of the game for Trinity, but I'm glad to see that they won. Trinity playing in the Quarterfinals. Never thought I would see the day!
