  1. Are we talking football or all sports. Look at baseball and softball and the majority of the teams in the state are privates. This is a ugly situation where neither side will be happy with the outcome, but I'm sure the split won't happen if Ronnie Carter has the last say so.
  2. How can you pick Eagleville when they didn't even come close to beating Forrest last year or other teams that were strong inside? If they aren't hitting outside shots they can't get out of the 20's. They are quick and can use that to their advantage but they won't win the district. Here's how it could go down. 1. Moore Co. (no one has proven they can beat them yet) 2. Huntland ( match up well with everybody) 3. Forrest (strong inside, good set shooters) 4. Eagleville (lots of experience and good guards) 5-9. From here it will be a battle every game night.

    11A Basketball

Top 3 : Culleoka, Eagleville, Moore Co. Middle 3 : Unionville, Cascade, Forrest Bottom 3 : Huntland, Cornersville, Richland These are in no particular order in each division. There could be alot of surprises this year in 11-A if some teams can play to their potential. This is the way I see it happening early on in the season, but look for Unionville and Forrest to make a run this year and possibly Huntland. [Edited by 0u812 on 10-31-02 11:46A]

    11A Basketball

You don't know your history of Eagleville basketball if you think this is the best year. 1984 is by far the best year ever with a close second 2001. 1989 is third with 1988 fourth , from there it is a toss up. They will have speed but when has Eagleville ever been slow? Depth is their problem, but they will be good not the best!
  5. HEY MUDDMAN I THINK YOU MISSPELLED YOUR NAME, I THINK IT SHOULD BE SPELLED DUMMAN. CHAPEL HILL WILL BE BACK IN CONTENTION THIS YEAR!
  6. You get a good mark showstopper!
  7. Thanks for the replies. However basketball has been travling on Tuesday nights forever, so this wouldn't matter. Filling out a schedule now is harder when you have 16 district games verses 8 district games. Smaller districts would mean you could play a variety of teams.
  8. If football already does the travling now, what would be the difference in basketball? Not trying to argue, just understand.
  9. Those are all good points except for the watering down point. I don't think any sport could get more watered down than football already is. However, travel is that way for every district, we at Forrest must travel at least an hour and a half to get to Huntland, you find that in every district. Most basketball teams have varsity, j-varsity, and freshman squads so I'm sure there are more than 10 or so on a basketball team or even wrestling, soccer, baseball, softball...Anyway are there any more ideas to this question? [Edited by 0u812 on 10-1-02 7:20A]
  10. Could someone please clear this up for me. Why does football have 5 classes with less teams, and basketball has only 3 classes with more teams? If it is a money thing wouldn't they benefit with more classes in basketball? This would mean more substate and state games. Just wondering.
  11. Moore Co.'s football team was at Chad Franklin's funeral today in Chapel Hill (along with members from other schools, but Moore Co.'s entire team). This is an example of the classest thing I have ever witnessed. We at Forrest have always tried to surpass the level of play on the field against Moore Co., they have been our biggest rivals. Yet at our weakest hour they were there for us. I have a new respect for them and always will. Thank you Moore Co. [Edited by 0u812 on 9-30-02 12:02P]
  12. #1- You must have coachable athletes. They must be willing to take criticism from the coach in order to reach their full potential. #2- You must have kids willing to sacrifice their own time away from regular practice and go to camps for individual improvement. #3- You must have kids who know and accept their roles. #4- PRIDE #5- You must have athletes that love the sport and put aside differences when they get on the field. Just what I think that good programs have every year.

    C-Woods Defense

Starting QB was on the field for the Rockets against C-wood, back-up freshman QB was on the field against W-boro. There is one idea. Field was dry when Rockets played W-boro, wet against C-wood. Second idea. C-wood is head and shoulders above W-boro on both sides of the ball. There is no comparison. The game between Forrest and W-boro is over but if the starting QB for the Rockets had been on the field we would have put points on the board, might not have won but would have scored. 14. The better team won, that's that. I'm from Forrest and I'm proud of the ways our guys came to play, however Ward showed us what a D-1 player is like to play against. I like the fact he plays both sides. However I wasn't impressed with the way Collinwood came to play. If they can't get up for every opponent then they might find themselves in the same position against a better team that can finish stronger than we did. Both sides wanted to win, taunting each other at times, but you have to understand that being 0-3 Forrest had to do something to stay motivated, unfortunately we awoke the beast at halftime. Excuses came out of frustration and makes a great effort on our boys part look bad. Good luck to both teams and keep your heads up Forrest, we play friday so get back pumped up. 15. Good or Great coaches get players to play to their potential or overachieve. This doesn't mean that good coaches win though. If the talent is not there, and it is not, then even if you have a great coach you're not going to win. All you can expect a coach to do is his job, not perform miricales.Coach Mac has had loads of talent in the past two years at Lewisburg and still hasn't won a title, is he an underachiever? Get off his back he has enough pressure without some weekend jr. pro coach blowing smoke.

    dist. 11a

Where have you heard that about Forrest? You better watch out for Unionville (Eagleville may slip in there and be a sleeper). Raiderwatcher you also better hope that the basketball team does better than your football team, cause people could lose that fear of Moore Co.
  17. Forrest's defense will be tough but will wear down late in game, not enough depth. Offense on the other hand will struggle if senior quaterback is not on the reins. Freshman quarterback did ok against Cascade but just doesn't have enough snaps under his belt. Wayne Co. 24 Forrest 6
  18. How do you recruit people out of the halls without making promises you can't keep? If they don't play because of self motivation then you don't need them. I'm sure coaching is hard enough with the ones who are on the team and think they should be out there, compared to players who have been promised something in the hallway.

    Forrest

DA, you got first good job. Forrest, you are the best public school in the state and second best team in the state. DA, brag when you've won with athletes from a zoned community, not a state wide selection. Don't reply to this, cause I won't be back on here to read your babble DA.
