  1. Looking at Beardens schedule 7 of their wins are over A or AA teams and not very good A or AA teams. No Catholic, CAK, Fulton, or Carter. Good wins vs Jeff Co and Maryville. Will they hold at tournament time. Does their schedule have them prepared for the rigors of the tournament. Looks like their only challengers will Maryville and Oak Ridge. Although West Farragut heritage in district could present a challenge. Are they really the best AAA in the state. Better than OR?
  2. Been hereing a lot about Catholic being an up and coming team. Who are their key players. Do they shoot good or do they depend on their inside game. Are they good on defense. CAK based on what I read is the team to beat in that district with catholic nipping at their heels. Alcoa I would guess will make some noise as young guys get more experience. Did I hear correctly that Carter goes to Central on Saturday. Would that be a good game to see.
  3. Was able to walk over and watch central play fulton Tuesday night. Central is improved and gave Fulton a game in the first half. Second half a different story. Fulton appeared to make some adjustments pulled away and won by 15. Fulton is deep and appeared to have at least one player in street clothes. Think he was a starter. Central has improved talent and asking around they are young so look for th to be better in the future. Bearden Oak Ridge Jeff Co Maryville CAK Catholic Carter all win big. Any big games this weekend.
  4. Take the Carter Fulton trash talk to another thread and lets take a look at what's going on around town. Best area teams: Oak Ridge. Young but talented. Bearden. Good enough and play hard. Blevins will accept nothing less. Jeff Co. Team we all forget about. CAK. Well coached. Depth may be an issue. Webb. Very good on perimeter. Great coach. Catholic. Great young talent. Fulton. Deep 1-10 can play. Hall of Fame Coach. Carter. 2 great players 2 good players 1 average player. Bench is empty. Can they play their style against good competition. Maryville. Well coached solid talent. Officials better tighten it up or we will see more situations like WB and maryville. Coaches and players games will be called differently for the next couple of weeks.
  5. Since I don't get out much I have time to do stuff like this. White Co schedule not very strong. Combined record of opponents is 159-157. Take out teams with winning record opponents are well below 500. Livingston and Lebanon appear to be average with records with 13-5 and 12-7 respectfully. Wouldn't consider them top notch competition. When I speak of Carter's weak schedule I am talking about playing Coalfield and the likes. Instead of OR Maryville Bearden West etc. As far as out playing Fulton last night. Agree that based on newspaper Carter did that for 3 qts. But basketball is a 4 qt game and Fulton out scored Cater 23-9 in the 4 th. Wouldn't consider that as out playing Fulton the whole game. Agree first game score was a fluke. But the fact is Carter appears to be average and Fulton at this point in time slightly better.
  6. Carter is 4-5 since Christmas. Knoxville area Oak Ridge and Bearden are heads and shoulders above all others. Catholic CAK West Fulton are good but nothing special. Carter struggles against good competition has won big vs weak teams can't seem to win against quality teams. I was on board with Hornets early but they haven't show anything but mediocrity.
  7. Trutle just noticed that Fulton was able to beat Carter tonight. Would it be safe to say that both squads were at full strength. Are you still unimpressed with Fulton. Do you still put Carter in the same category as class AAA powers Oak Ridge and Bearden. I just looked at Carter's schedule on Coach t and if iam not mistaken Carter is 5-6 since Christmas. Not the record of an E Tn top team
  8. I don't get out much and more to see games so all I have to go by is what I read on message boards and in the newspaper. But trutle I find it amusing that Fulton doesn't impress you when they beat one of your top four (Carter) by 50. Carter I understand wasn't full strength but will one player make up 50 points. Fulton may not be very good. But if that is the case. Carter must not be as good as advertised. Based on state polls and scores I am seeing it looks like Oak Ridge and Bearden are the class of the Knoxville area. Webb, CAK, Catholic, and Fulton would be imo the next in line with Carter in the mix due to style of play and talent.
  9. Found it interesting u didn't mention Fulton. Agree with teams u mentioned. But didn't fulton beat Carter and hold them to 50 points and scored over 100. At least that's what I saw in the news paper.
  10. One last comment about E Tn coaches. Jody Wright is one of the best. To imply he recruits and can't win with players walking the halls is misguided. Green is good. Moore is good ask green Moore has beaten him on more than one ocassion with less talent. Blevins is good. Sure I am missing some. But let's move on to to topic of this thread. Carter 20 pts better. New coach came in to the perfect storm. Bull took his lumps for two years playing frosh and sophs. Last year they came into their own. New energy plus great talent made the successful. Same story this year. Best two players in E Tn other three starters better than average. Do they have the depth to maintain that pace. Weak schedule will help to develop depth. One injury could be devastating Combine that with Alcoa Fulton AE all being down. They will not be challenged. Rest of region is a toss up for second. AE Alcoa Cak catholic and Fulton will battle for second.
  11. Uptempo was u at the halls fulton game? If not u really don't know what happened. According to my pals at the breakfast bunch at chil fila (2 were at the game). Fulton played poorly let halls hang around and fulton got hosed by the officials on a call that put Halls best player on the ft line to win it. Which he did. Halls did same thing at OR just didn't . finish. How can anyone imply Jodie Wright is not a good coach. 2 state championships, 2 runners ups, andaybe 20 state tournaments. Hall of Famer np doubt. Now for Carter. Best team in knox county and most likely 2nd best in E. Tn to OR. They had great talent last year and maybe more this year. The problem with Carter is their weal schedule. No Bearden, no Oak Ridge, no Maryville etc... Only time will tell if coach at Carter can build a program that is as feared as Fultons. But if Carter doesn't toughen up their schedule regardless how good they won't be respected. If Carter doesn't get to Murfreesboro with their great talent. Which includes transfers as well. It will be the biggest choke job ever in E Tn basketball history. Let's see how well they handle being top dog with no where to go except down.
  12. Typical GP. Dodging all the good teams in Gold Bracket. Based on records oCoacht gold bracket is loaded. Blue on the other hand is mediocre. Message if you want to be the Man U got to beat the man. Pretenders.
  13. Based on what I have read in paper Carter is the dominate team. Although playing a weak schedule this far scores have been impressive. After that a mixed bag but these teams may be playing for second in region. CAK can they replace point guard. But well coach and have some talent. Alcoa as always. Football athletes come along they will be a force. Catholic has young talent but may be a year away. Fulton impressive win over AE with only a week of practic with footballers . AE young but will make some noise as always. But when it's all said and done Carter has the most talent by far and that run and gun wears teams down. Everyone else imo is playing for second in region.
  14. Typical GP get beat and blame it on refs. Lost to a superior Carter team and complained about 4 players fouling out. GP has a huge inferiority complex. Can't compete with big boys so blame it on refs.
  15. Are rankings based on AAU play? How much do college coaches consider high school play and a teams competition when recruiting. Noticed Carter has several seniors ranked. Two in top 25. Looks like on paper they could be the best team in the Knoxville area. Unfortunately after looking at their schedule they won't be able to proof it on the floor. They will run up big numbers against weak competition. Sure they have AE and Fulton but both are down and inexperienced. If they are going to be an area powerhouse need to play bearden Maryville oak ridge etc.
  16. After asking around found out Carter has the most talented first 5 in AA in E Tn. Looking at there schedule they may have very well lost their one an only game the season. Schedule to say the least is weak. District way down. Traditional powers AE and Fulton down and PF GP and Union Co in good years are average at best. Carter will sweep the district during regular season. Out of district games bring no real challenges. Played Coalfield? Problems will be lack of depth and keeping starters fresh for a run at the end of the season. One injury could be devastating. At the state level different story. If they run with Memphis teams they get blown out of gym. And yes other teams will limit their pocession and frustrate them let last year. Long term don't think system will bring long term success. But this year they will be the talk of the town. Back to 4 AA. Catholic CAK and Alcoa. Be thankful Carter is in other district.
  17. Not really big numbers considering the team averages 110 a game. Also looked at schedule and competitio not real tough. Only good team they played Hardin Valley beat them. That being said Carter is most likely the best team in AA but not battle test yet.
  18. Same coach? Sounds like they are a major player around town maybe bout to dethrone Fulton as best in town. Looked at schedule notice they play my bobcats. May have to check out. Sounds like their fun to watch.
  19. But why? Sounds like he is a star. Not familiarwith carter. How do they score so much. What is their competition like Not sure about being in state 3 of last 5 years. What years was it.
  20. Keep reading a player from Fulton transferred to Carter. Why would a player leave the best basketball program east of Nashville. Seems like Fulton has been to a bunch of state tournaments and think they won a few.
  21. This far along anyone can win. South must be good. Pretenders are playing basketball tonight. Limit big plays and turnovers will keep them in the game. I think it will be close. South has a very good QB that can make Fulton pay for mistakes. By the way will it be on tv.
  22. What makes you think Fulton isn't fundental. Watch them on TV vs catholic and they looked pretty fundamental on both sides of ball. Don't recall any turnovers and they forced several against a very good offense. Athletic doesn't mean undiscipline. Very general and inaccurate. Maryville on the other hand is a good fundamental team. But they are not void of athletes. They to are athletic and fundamental. I would gues GQ wouldn't agree that Fulton isn't discipline and fundamental. I would guess Maryville would win. But not because Fulton is just a bunch of athletes that are poorly coached, lack discipline, not fundamental and play backyard football.
