  1. The same goes for all of the players that play for coaches that did't want to pay the fee to be in coaches association. Just keep playing ladies.

Sounds like Columbia State is going to be tough. These pitchers are not only great pitchers, but are very good defensive players in other positions and are pretty strong for offense also. Way to go.
  3. Good luck to all of the Xtreme Edge girls and the rest of the Centennial team. Way to go Kendra........
  4. That is right. I heard 21 strikeouts against Antioch in 10 innings. They did only score one run. Deana Ayers got a hit in the first inning and Amber Steen got a triple and knocked her in. Those were the only two hits of the game. In the Hendersonville game, Amber Steen lead off the 2nd inning with a single and was left on base by the next three batters. Savannah Roberts had a hit her second at bat and Amber reached by an error and both were left on base. The only other hit of the game was by Bethany ? (don't know last name). Hers was a lead off single and she was left on base by the next three batters in the lineup. They are really going to have to start putting the ball in play to have a chance for wins. Who knows though, there is alot of potential there, and with two good pitchers, anything is possible. Maybe the next couple of weeks will be better.
  5. The girl in center field has a lot of potential. A little rusty because she hasn't played in a while. With some playing time, she will be a big help to that team next year. It doesn't matter how good or bad their pitchers pitch, or who does the pitching, if their offense doesn't step it up and start scoring runs they will not win many games. Hits are few and far between in alot of games. The bottom of their line up appears to be very weak. They definately need some work.
  6. A couple of errors at first cost a couple of runs. HHS hit the ball hard the entire game and had several hits. Should have only been a two to three run ballgame though. Umpire made Spears throw the ball right down the middle of the plate.
  7. I agree 3andout. I don't know the other girl but I do know Susan and she is a great girl on and off of the field with good parents that support her. I don't believe she would up and leave her high school team without very good reasons. Why would she, she has a great future ahead of her in softball.
  8. Steen does throw anywhere from about 61-62 up to 65-66. She also has a great rise ball. It takes more than being able to throw hard to make you a good pitcher. I don't care how hard you throw if you only throw fast balls you are going to give up hits. She does throw the ball by alot of batters, but she is also effective because she has several pitches to go to.
  9. I believe that is this years record. They said they had already played fifty something games coming into the tournament. They do not have a limit that they are allowed to play.
  10. The actual score in the Hunters Lane vs. Baker Alabama was 2-0. Steen had 14 strike outs in 6 innings with no walks. She gave up three hits against what is supposed to be one of the best teams in Alabama. The warriors could not get their bats going and only had one hit the entire game. The score should have actually been 1-0. The warriors have great potential, but they are going to have to step it up a few notches to compete at the end of the season. They are looking much better now that they are getting a few games under their belts. Hopefully they will continue to improve.
  11. Wilson Central gets my vote. They have 3 good pitchers that they can go to. They also have the defense and the sticks to go with it. It took them a few games to get started but they are looking good. They are one of the few teams that have it all (pitching, hitting and defense).
  12. I agree Redbaron. They did have a slow start last year and improved alot throughout the season. They just need a little playing time under their belt. The other teams have all played in a couple of tournaments and had several scrimmages. The warriors first games were last weekend in the Hendersonville Tourny. They are a little rusty and there just does not seem to be alot of effort defensively. Hopefully they will get thier heads and hearts into it. There is definately potential there.
  13. Steen had 15 strike outs in that game. The balls that were put into play were not handled by the defense. A pitcher cannot win a game by herself. She did walk a few batters. What was a strike one pitch was not a strike the next, but when you can record 15 strikeouts, you should have a win. A team has to want to win.
  14. Are the Hunters Lane Warriors signed up to be is this tournament?
  15. Hunters Lane looked pretty rusty the first couple of games. They made a couple of defensive changes and they looked much better. A few games under their belt and they will be pretty competitive.
  16. Who was the pitcher for Hendersonville? I know that they have several.
  17. In January of this year the pitcher for Hunters Lane, Amber Steen signed with Columbia State.
  18. I agree Fanniemae. There are alot of deserving players that get no recognition because of the school they play for or because their overall team isn't that great. Most any team has one or two great players that are deserving. Our team had a very deserving player last year that was nominated and the coach was told that they had to atleast make it to the sub-states for her to be considered. How unfortunate for her and alot of other players that that has happened too.
  19. I disagree. The other schools play and are great competition. Greenbrier, Hickman Co., Hunters Lane, Beech, Wilson Central,Hendersonville, Dickson Co., Cumberland Co., Coffee Co. and several more are not public schools and are competitive to any private school team out there. A few of them showed that by where they were at this time last week. Everyone of those teams have great players on them that are oftem overlooked because they aren't paying alot of money to be at a private school. There are alot of weak private school teams also. It should be a fair shot for everyone, based on what your team did and what the player did. The name of the school should not matter. There are alot of deserving players out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  20. I think Hunters Lane will return again next year. Amber Steen will be back next year. They are losing 5 seniors, but have several on the bench that are good ball players and a few new ones coming in along with another pitcher. They should have another great year.

That just goes to show that alot of teams were underestimated. Who did you expect to see out of AAA? You said Cumberland County. Well Hunters Lane lost to them in a tournament 1-0 in extra innings. Steen pitched a no hitter against them and still lost in the tie breaker. Did you expect to see Beech? Hunters Lane put them out of their own tournament. Games like that can go either way,and those teams including Hunters Lane are competive with anyone. That shows they are not weak, but that they, along with several other teams have greatly improved. Hickman County is also very deserving of being there. They play hard and have a great team this year, with a very good left handed pitcher. They can also be competitive with any other team. Way to go Hunters Lane and Hickman County. From the games I watched you all deserve to be there and you earned your spot.
  22. My vote goes to Hunters Lane by one run. Should be a great game. HL has been the underdog. They come from a weak district, but they have played in several tournaments, and have gotten better over the season. This is as far as HL as ever went, or went in a long time. They have worked hard to improve and win or lose they have shown this year that it doesn't matter what district they are in, they can hang with anyone.
  23. It was a perfect game. The runner was on by a dropped third strike by the catcher. That does not get charged to the pitcher. If she would have walked the batter then that would have been different. Just like the runner that goes to second in the tie breaker, she doesn't get charged for that runner being on base either. Both teams played a great game and had great sportsmanship. Good luck to both teams Friday. The pitcher for Hickman County also pitched a great game.
  24. Gary Martineau is great. He is giving lessons twice a week in the College Grove area. I'm not sure how far that is from Franklin.
