  1. The Ravenwood @ Beech Sectional game will begin at 7:00pm at Veterans Park in Hendersonville on Friday 5/16/08. It was originally scheduled for 5:30 but due to all the rain we have received today it is being moved back to allow the fields to be in the best shape possible for this game. Please get the word out. Thank You Coach Woods Beech Softball
  2. I would like to thank Coach Griffin and his volunteers for running such a good tournament and Chick Crandell and the parks staff for getting the fields in such good shape considering all the rain we had. With a tournament as large as this (60+ teams) it is very difficult to schedule all the games with perfect conditions, not to mention all the teams dropping out and the weather we had over the weekend. Coach Griffin and his staff did a remarkable job. If anyone has their own tournament you know how tough of a job this is. Also the parks staff has to be one of the best in the country to get the fields ready in the time they did. They do a great job day in and day out to make sure these facilities are some of the best in the state. Great job guys - I know you don't hear it enough. There are a lot of good tournaments to go to each season and I have to agree with Coach Breeden from Riverdale that this ranks at the top for facilities and competition. Once again thanks and great job from the Beech Buccaneer Softball team - Coach Woods.
  3. Since this was a play day we did not require teams to post their scores so to be quite honest I only know of my teams' scores and a few others I heard from a few other coaches. If individual coaches wish to post their scores on CoachT that will be their option. I can tell you we had great weather and very few complaints so I hope everyone got something out of it. Thanks to all the teams and fans that came out to Drakes Creek Park on Sunday to make the play-day a success. A special thanks to Chick Crandell and the staff at Drakes Creek Park who put in countless hours to get the fields ready for the girls to play. They did an outstanding job and this is one of the main reasons Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville is a premier site in Tennessee for girls fastpitch softball. Once again thank you. Coach Woods Beech Softball
  4. The new schedule for the play day has been sent to all coaches via email. I am also in the process of calling everyone to give them the schedule. Unfortunately I can not post the entire schedule here, however the coaches at Riverdale have been so nice in helping me post the entire schedule on their website later this evening. The url address is www.riverdalesoftball.com I would like to thank Coach Breeden and Coach Weaver for their help. If you have not received you schedule you may call me on my cell at 270-791-9310. Games start at 10am and go to 7pm tomorrow night. Come out and see some great softball teams in some great weather condition(finally!!!) Thank everyone for your patience and understanding. Coach Woods Beech Softball
  5. The following teams have told me that they will not be able to come: Davidson Academy, Gallatin, Hunters Lane, McEwen, Obion County, Sequatchie County, and Smyrna. I am still waiting to hear from the following: Greenbrier, Hume Fogg, MLK, Macon County, and Clarksville. The following teams will be there: Beech, Brentwood, East Robertson, Father Ryan, Friendship Christian, Goodpasture, Hendersonville, LaVergne, Lipscomb, Mt. Juliet, Ravenwood, Riverdale, St. Benedict, Siegel, Soddy Daisy, Station Camp, Unicoi County, White House Heritage, and Wilson Central. I hope I did not leave anyone off.
  6. We have rescheduled the Beech Play Day for Sunday March 2 at Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville. 20 of the original 30 teams in the field will be in attendance. I will call and email all coaches by early Saturday afternoon with the new schedule. Games should start somewhere between 9-11 am. I will do my best to post it on CoachT tomorrow night but I can not promise it. I appreciate everyone's patience and understanding with the weather. For all the teams that can not come on Sunday please call Kari Akin at Ravenwood High School. She has a play day next Saturday March 8th and has room for more teams. She will be glad to have you. Once again, thanks. Coach Woods Beech Softball
  7. The Beech Buccaneer Play Day has been rained out for Saturday March 1. I am currently trying to contact all coaches and get their opinion on whether to reschedule for next Saturday March 8, or try to play this Sunday March 2. The weather looks great for tomorrow which will allow the fields to dry out and Sunday looks like a high temp of 65. Call me on at (270)799-6062 or (270)791-9310 and let me know what you would like to do. I will make a decision around 10pm central time tonight and post it on CoachT. Thanks for your patience and understanding. Coach Woods
  8. Coaches, Here is an update: As of now (2:00 pm) the play day has been moved back two hours so the 9:00 games will begin at 11:00. If it continues to rain and does not get much warmer it is possible that tomorrow will be a rainout totally. The parks dept. will be making this decision by 5:00 tonight. Here are the 2 options we have if it rains out: 1. Play next Saturday March 8th 2. Play on this Sunday March 2nd. The benefit to this is that the weather tomorrow and Sunday is suppossed to be real nice. Also anyone scheduled to play in the Ravenwood Raptor play-day will still be able to do both. Obviously, the negative is that a lot of people have church to attend. I will post on Coach T later around 6:00 if it is rained out. I will also email and try to call everyone later tonight. If all coaches in the play day will respond to me with which option they would prefer I will make the decision about the play day late tonight and get back with you tonight or early tomorrow morning. My e-mail address is: bhscoachwoods@yahoo.com or you may call me on my cell at (270) 791-9310. Also if it does rainout and you have not already committed to play in the play day and would like to play in it on Sunday or next Saturday call me because either way I am sure some teams will have to drop out. Coach Woods Beech Softball
  9. I need a team to fill a spot for the Beech Play Day on Saturday March 1st. Your entry fee will be covered by the team that is dropping out. Send me an e-mail for the details. The e-mail address is : bhscoachwoods@yahoo.com or you can call the school at 615-824-6200 ext. 225. Thanks -Coach Woods Head Softball Coach - Beech Senior High School
  10. The Beech Lady Buccaneer Play Day will be held on Saturday March 1st at Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville. We currently have 31 teams committed to play. The schedule is currently being made out. If you would like a schedule sent to you via e-mail when it is complete please send me an e-mail at bhscoachwoods@yahoo.com and I will reply with the schedule. It will be in Excel format. I plan on having the schedule finished by Friday January 25th. As always teams drop out and add at the last minute so please check the schedule changes if there are any when you get to the park on March 1. In the event of a rainout, the makeup day will be Saturday March 8th. If any more teams are interested in playing, contact me ASAP. Coach David Woods Beech Softball
  11. Chick, You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. From Beech softball players, coaches, and parents.
  12. I don't know how you are playing right now, but that is irrelavant. If you have been around high school softball the last 3 years and you know the Soddy Daisy program you have to know that this team will be in the hunt for their 2nd consecutive state championship in May. Whether you are a fan of Coach Kirk and Soddy or not you have to say that they definitely know how to play ball. Coach Kirk knows his ball and his team is well coached year in and year out. Senior loaded with a mix of very good young talent is an excellent recipe for a state title. They finished 2nd in 2004, 2nd in 2005, and 1st in 2006. I know they have not looked real good early but I don't know of any team that has won a state title in March or April. It is all about the tournament in May. Best of Luck to the Lady Trojans.
  13. You are correct. Beech lost to Mt. Juliet 1-0 in 10 innings and Hendersonville 1-0 in seven. I would have to put Mt. Juliet, Hendersonville, and Wilson Central in front of Beech right now in District 9AAA. Wilson Central defeated Hendersonville in their first meeting 2-0. Hendersonville defeated Mt. Juliet 1-0 in ten innings in their first meeting. This is a very tough district this year in softball. Any time these teams get together it is like a tournament atmosphere. I don't think too many teams would like to trade places with any of these 4. Not to mention that if you make it as one of the 2 teams out of the district to the region you will most likely see Rossview (very good) and Brentwood in the sectionals(state tourney trip last season).
  14. Congrats Red Bank. I know Soddy beat you guys 4 or 5 times this year but you beat them when it counted - The 2005 State Championship. Congrats to you guys as well as Rossview, Beech and all the other teams that "weren't suppossed to make it to the spring fling" That is why you play the games on the field not in the rankings and newspapers. Good tournament overall. Congrats to all teams that made it and all the winners.

    9-AAA

Teal was deserving of the award. She was very good for HHS all season long. It could have gone to someone from Beech or Wilson Central or Mt. Juliet. This district was very even. In fact if HHS would of have defeated Wilson Central the last game of the season, HHS would have finished 1st and Wilson Central would have dropped to 3rd. That is how even the district was. By the way, congrats to Beech for coming into this season as a underdog and winning the tournament without losing a game. Quite an accomplishment for a team that lost 7 senior starters. Best of luck to them the rest of the way.
  16. Game #1 is scheduled for Friday @ 3:30 at Drakes Creek Park Game #2 is scheduled for Monday @ 4:00 at White House. If there is a rainout Friday, Game #1 will be moved to Tuesday.
  17. In AAA, Beech is 38-7 heading into the state tournament. Soddy Daisy is 48-5.
  18. What do you think the outcome will be. I would really like to hear from Redbarron because he thought Hunters Lane would beat Centennial in the 1st round and he really doesn't like Beech. Give some opinions.
  19. My prediction is that if Waters pitches for Soddy and I assume she will, Coffee will get no more that 3 hits if that. Soddy 7 Coffee 0. Riverdale was a good win- the luck ends there. Sorry but that is how I see it.
  20. What time on Wednesday and where will this game be played?
  21. A 1-0 score in 10 innings. Wow, must have been a good one. Someone who was there please share some details.
  22. How about some predictions and comments about the following regional games on Monday: #1. Wilson Central @ Dickson County #2. Cenntennial @ Hunters Lane #3. Coffee County @ Riverdale #4. Rossview @ Beech #5. Antioch @ Brentwood #6. Blackman @ Tullahoma #7. Red Bank @ Cumberland County I think all the district winners will win with 3 exceptions. I think Wilson Central, Cenntennial, and Blackman will all come away with wins. Look for Red Bank to be a close one with Cumberland Co., and Riverdale should handle Coffee easily, but you never know with all that has taken place there over the last year. What does everyone think?
  23. The Region 5AAA game for Beech vs. Rossview is set for 4:00 pm on Monday 5-17-04 at Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville. Please pass this on to all the Rossview faithful. Should be a good one.
  24. Here are the details: Game #1 Claunch pitched for Beech giving up only 4 hits and striking out 11. She was very dominate on the mound. Derryberry who beat Beech on Wednesday pitched for Wilson Central also giving up 4 hits but 2 runs which was the difference. Both defenses had two errors, but Beech had the timely hits which was the difference. Game #2 Claunch again took the mound for Beech giving up 4 hits in 5 innings but no runs scored. Wilson Central had a good chance to score in the top of the 5th with one on and two outs. Beech's shortstop made a throwing error putting runners on first and second, then the lead-off got a hit loading the bases with two outs. The next batter popped out behind 3rd base to end the inning. Beech scored 3 in the third and 1 in the 4th and had bases loaded with no outs in the 5th when the game was stopped due to the rain. Beech's bats were once again getting hot as they had 8 hits when the game was called. George pitched for Wilson Central and was replaced in the 3rd after giving up 3 runs by Lain. The game was called official after the coaches and umpires met and decided that the field was getting to be unplayable. I can only assume that Wilson Central did not want to come back tomorrow to finish since they have prom and the were assured a birth in regional play next week. This is not a fact but only what I am assuming. Region 5AAA Next Monday 5-17-04 4:00 Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville: Beech vs. Clarksville Rossview 5:00 Dickson County High School: Wilson Central vs. Dickson County
  25. If the weather will cooperate, Wilson Central will play Beech at Drakes Creek Park in Hendersonville @ 2:00 on Friday May 14th with a 4:00 game to follow if Beech defeats Wilson Central in the 1st matchup. Two really good teams - Should be fun. Good Luck to both schools in the region next week.
