  6. Goo, your observation is right on the mark and very well stated! CBHS lack of sportmanship during the awards presentation was disgraceful. In particular, the group of students sitting to the right of mid-field. What a sorry lot indeed. The soccer teams needs to spend less time traveling to Brazil to hone their talented soccer skills, but rather, take a team retreat to "reflect" on their disfunctions. My gosh, they go to CHRISTIAN BROTHERS for crying out loud! Have they loss sight of what that religious order stands for? CBHS could learn a thing or two from the McCallie following. Their sportsmanship and the class that they exhibited after the loss to Father Ryan was more than just commendable. I can't say enough! They fought hard and were gracious in defeat. I have a great deal of respect for the McCallie program and wish them the very best next season. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I hope that the teams from the D II west region have a very long dry spell before they yearn another TSSAA Championship Trophy. ECS and MUS as far as I'm concern are in the same class (or their lack of) as CBHS. One interesting note that I would like to pass on was something that happened after the DII championship game. From what I was told a runners-up medal was found in the parking lot. Rumor has it that a CBHS player discarded it in digusted over the 3-2 loss to Ryan. Sounds plausible doesn't it! In closing, I clearly remember several young ladies (ladies indeed, yeah right!) yelling at the Ryan players to "Go Home", Well they did with the TSSAA DII CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY.

I forgot to mention Ryan Senior forward, Patrick Carroll, who scored two of the three goals in th championship game. He really came on as this past season.

Great Post! I was at all those Ryan games. I totally agree with your assessment of the Ryan vs. Brentwood game. I would like to add however, that not only was it a high class on the field but also in the stands. I have to commend the Brentwood following for the sportmanship that they exhibited. As a whole they are very knowledgeable soccer fans. I still haven't recovered from the Ryan vs. McCallie semi-final game. I've never experienced anything quite like it! The pressure on the field that night was incredible. In retrospect, the 2005 Ryan team was indeed a special group of players. The team is going to greatly miss the leadership of McWatters, Gaffney, and Rodriques. In addition too, the hard nose play of Sharp, Santos and Luckett. The good news is that Gallagher will be back!
  9. Father Ryan graduated 10 seniors this year. Mark McWatters (GK), # 4 Paul Gaffney, #5 Patrick Carroll, #7 Michael Graham, #9 Chris Santos, #14 Jason Kellner, #17 Justin Luckett, #18 Andres Rodriquez, and #23 Cory Sharp. Seven of which were starters. Ryan will reload and will be ready for next year. #8 Mike Gallagher will be returning along with fellow seniors (GK) John Kennedy, #2 Rusty Densen, #3 Jud Goldman, #12 Min Jung, #13 Chris Perry, and #16 Garreth Condron. The returning juniors are #6 Ryan Zeek, #21 Armond Agassi, and #15 Alan Acuff. Sophmores # 20 Charles Rodriquez and #19 Andrew Chamberlin will be in the mix. There are some very seasoned player in this group and a few true JV players that could make an immediate contribution to next years' team. The Irish should be in the hunt again in 2006. They understand the meaning of "Team" play and they have a great work ethic. It's a very good group of players! GO IRISH!!

  11. yaya48, I do have a correction to my post. The you ladies did not use the word "STINK', but rather the other "S" word. Trying to keep it clean.
  12. I'm so glad you asked! To start off, let me just sya that Mike Gallagher derserves all the recognition that he is receiving. Since entering Ryan he has beenon a mission. It was his goal to win a state championship ring.(Side Note: Gallagher's older brother, who also as a junior, was a member of Ryan's 98 Championship Team). When the regular season ended he became a man darn near possessed! His play in region and state has been exemplary. He should garner all-states honors for his exploits. With that being said, I'll give you my version of events. I was sitting behind and very near this group of CBHS student fans. This particular group on "students" sat to the right of mid-field on the first row. These "AMOEBAS" were the most OBNOXIOUS, ARROGANT, REPUGNANT fans I've ever seen or heard. With CBHS being the all "BOY" school that it is they brought along with them a group of young "GIRLS". (To refer to them as young ladies would be an oxymoron). I'll explain later. This collection of misfits were on the Ryan players all day long. At first,I thought that the "Jerks-R- Us" convention was also in town that weekend. They never let up! Gallagher fed off it! All he did was just SMILE at the low lives. You just new that the throw was going to do something. I commented to my friend, "watch this"....It was spectacular!! After amking the assist Gallagher looked over at the them and SMILED again. Then ever so slightly waving his index back and forth very very carefully. He was being careful not to be accused of taunting them. It was beautiful! They became incensed! Unfortunately it did not end there. After the game as the Ryan team was walking across the field to receive the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY" this group starts booing them! Several of the "GIRLS" with their limited use of the English vocabulary started shouting and I quote, "you stink" and my personal favorite "GO HOME". What concern me is, these girls, are the future mothers of American. I can only image the type of little monsters they're going to raise! CBHS should be ashamed of this type of school representation. I was very proud of the Ryan Team because all they did was smile and make the We're No.1 gesture. I'll tell you this much. I hope that the state soccer championship trophies stay out of the Memphis area for many years to come! One last thing I would like to share. I overheard another CBHS fan state, "That Ryan did not belong on the same playing field with the Brothers"........Can you believe it! CBHS by far had the more highly skilled players, but the difference is they didn't play as a TEAM. Ryan is a team NOT a collection of individuals. Remember, TEAM, TEAM, TEAM! Irish eyes were smiling that day!

    DII State

I'm not very good at predictions and I'm very bias when it comes to Father Ryan. I think this game has the potential to be a very tough and hard fought match. Ryan has a strong desire to win. This year Ryan has a history playing with the formidable teams. Ryan first lost of the year came at the hands of CBHS by 3-1. I think CBHS team speed caught them off guard. Ryan played fairly even with them in the second half. I believe that's what happen with BGA in the first half. I also saw the Farrguat-CBHS game and CBHS came out like lighting. Ryan has got to shut down the quick start. I just hope both teams play to their full potenial. HHSoccerfan, your predictions were insightful and you've got a good eye for the game. Enjoyed reading them! It's been a great soccer season in Tennessee!

    DII State

PSAFOUR I was impressed with your predictions! I was at the Ryan -McCallie game and what can I say. It was like matching a heavyweight championship fight. Those two teams left everything on the field. It a game I shall never forget. All I can really say is WOW! Caught some of the action with CBHS-BGA. BGA was taken out early. I wish they could have made a better game of it. I think that yaya48 and hhsoccerfan had some pretty decent predictions as well. I'm curious as to your thoughts on the Ryan-CBHS final.

    Ryan-MBA

I find it very regrettable that you had to mention "the fight" in your posting. This situation has NO business spilling over unto this upcoming soccer match. For the record, no soccer player from either team was involved, period! The rivalry is intense enough without adding any more full to the fire! I feel for the families of the students involved. It very sad indeed. I would agree however that watching those two teams go at it makes for a great game. Look at the two games they played last year, both very exciting. There's no better soccer atmosphere than playing at MBA. I hope there is a large fan turn out on both sides. It does make for a great atmosphere.
  18. I have to agree with foward88 that Brentwood has one of the top midfields in the state. There is none finer than Tyler Oglive. He has one of the deadliest shots on goal I've ever seen. I follow Father Ryan closely and their midfielders are a solid group. When Ryan and Brentwood played back at the end of April it was a very hard fought game. It's those types of games that you can really appreciate the skill levels that these teams bring to the field.

    Coach Conditt

does anyone have a progress report or any word when Coach Conditt will be released from the Hospital?
  20. A fair assessment. i'm not a big fan of the rankings. Since tying BGA, Ryan is 6-0 and beat Brentwood 2-1 in the process. True Ryan has loses to CBHS and McCallie, but has had several very big wins over formidable opponents, ie.. Farragut, MUS, Hendersonville, Brentwood, and Bearden. Their opponents W-L is 133-70-46 (excluding Randuolph School). Hey, Ryan is a "Blue Collar" type of team! They've worked hard and their focused. I say, to heck with the rankings and let them have the opportunity to prove it on the field! I too will not be making any predictions. Who really knows at this point!

    Coach Conditt

Coach Conditt, you are in our thoughts and prayers. I'm going to share these words taken from my calendar today and written by Emily Matthews, ' Lord, Please pour out a blessing on the ones who honor You as they share their gifts and talents by the thoughtful things they do.' Coach, thank you for always sharing your gifts and talents as a friend, an Educator and Coach. Hope to see you at the ball park soon. By the way . . . JJ810, did you mean (E.R. out of Chatt.) ?
  22. What BGA as done thus far this season is commendable! This is not the first time I've given them their deserve credit. Their overall record and DII to ranking speaks for itself. The BGA coaching staff should be recognized as well for their efforts. Observers outside" the BGA nation" didn't give them much of a chance given the tremendous talent that graduated. With that said, a new season begins and it would be great to see a Father Ryan - BGA go at it again. Their first meeting wasn't boring! I would agree that BGA should be a team to reckon with next year. We'll have to wait a see!

    MBA or Ryan

There was no huge fight. It was more or less a situation inwhich the MBA defense became frustrated. As far as I'm concerned it all started when a Ryan forward was taken down from behind by the MBA keeper. PK was good and Ryan was up 3-0. Ryan continued to press hard. I believe that the referees lost control of the game in the second half. All this took place on the MBA side of the field. Ydet you know how their fans can be! The delay was too long and very unnecessary. Should have never gotten to that point.
  24. With Baylor defeating ND 3-0 last night I believe that the landscape in that region as changed. Right now I think that Baylor and McCallie are two of the strongest teams in that region with Knoxville Catholic right on their heals. It a shame that there's only two slots for state in that region. I'm very impressed with the overall schedules that Baylor, Knoxville Catholic, and McCallie have played. I'm not overly impressed with the west, but CBHS is as solid as they come. Saw ECS play Farragut earlier in the year. They have the potential to stir things up. There schedule was very tough this year. I've heard that Notre Dame is a big team that likes a small field, however, put them on a larger field you have a shot at them! I really like Baylor at this point and have a great deal of respect for McCallie. My concern about ND is their team play over the last 4 games. Maybe they can turn it around. Give them credit they have held the top spot in the state for quite awhile.
  25. Great point, I don't think that will happen. It is my understanding that the Ryan coaching staff was not pleased by that incident. They dealt with it following practice. However, you have to admit that it was a very emtional game that night.
