  1. From what I understand, they did NOT start the freshman, Houston Mainord. He played a series in the first half and the fourth quarter. I predict that ALL of the Jackets are going to come out hungry for a win and play as a team and win!!!! Go Jackets!!!!
  2. The game last nite was great, and both teams played with lots of intensity. I felt like the hard foul at the end was totally unnecessary, and a bad ending to a hard fought contest. I think the asst coach was merely trying to seperate everyone and send the fans who were charging the floor back to the stands. I know that in high school, when trying to break up a fight, you just do your best to seperate everyone, and that looked like what he was trying to do. I heard him yell, get back in those bleachers! I wish both teams lots of luck in the district tournament!
  3. Does anyone know where Townsend School is?
  4. Congrats! She is by far one of the classiest and nicest Sequatchie players, while still being a great competitor. She does her talking with her game, not attitude or words. We will be rooting for you at the next level!!
  5. Many prayers have been said for Coach Woodlee today in Grundy, County and we are all hoping for the best. Kasey is at the specialist right now finding out what exactly happened and what the future holds for her. She is a strong girl, and a fighter, and if the team and community sticks together behind her, I'm sure they will pull her through. We love u, Kas!!!!!
  6. Last night's game was a great effort for both teams. The refs did a great job, just a good, gritty game of basketball, like it should be that wasnt decided until a last second shot at the buzzer. Lots of people have said that Sequatchie would be untouchable, but I for one, think that the Lady Jackets did their best to touch, lol. Good luck to both teams for the rest of the year, I look forward to tournament time!
  7. ....things that make ya go HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!! From the sound of it, ya'll don't stand a chance Lady Jackets, huh?!? Let me be the first to say, GOOD LUCK LADY JACKETS!!!
  8. Grundy County beat Lincoln County by 10. Grundy County beat Hickman County by 19. Grundy County beat Harpeth by 17. Sorry that I don't have exact scores, but I am sure of the margins. Great job today girls!!!!
  9. Best of luck to the Govs and Coach Charlie Puleo!!! Hope to get to go see ya'll in the 'Boro!
  10. The play was NOT intentional, I can assure you. Everyone was clapping, because an otherwise wide-open layup was saved, and a shot was blocked. The player wasnt laying on the ground, she was talking and it was a few moments before people noticed Coach Barker out there looking at her. (while she was standing and talking). In NO WAY do I want to downplay her injury, and she has my most sincere wishes that she is ok. I have children that play also, and I DEFINITELY hope that she is fine. I dont think that we want to get back into the injury topic, and the actions of coaches. In one of our games this year, when our player was laying on the floor, in and out of consciousness, carried off on a stretcher, the actions of the girls and coaches was inexcuseable. Thats another day and another topic though, and once again, I hope that Ledford is ok. Just a sidenote, check out the picture from the article in the chattanoogan, where it shows woodlee getting the rebound and the players on top of her. Thats how the entire game was, it was hard fought on both sides, and was called fairly and consistently. The refs were very professional, and very fair, and these days, thats hard to find. Many fouls were called on both sides of the ball. They did call a foul on Woodlee, but not an intentional one, which was the correct call. Back to the father getting upset...Ledford has enormous potential to suceed, and to play at the next level, but if he continues to behave the way that he does at games, it wont be appealing to colleges. High school coaches and administrators may allow him to be that way, but noone at the next level will. GET WELL SOON LAKYN!
  11. Any news about Ledford? We all hope that she is doing ok, and that the tests are just for precaution. It happened with a little over 2 minutes left in the game, and even though she left the game, she was alert and jumping up and down when they got their trophies, so my hopes are that they are just being on the safe side. The game was a very intense game, but I think that the referees did an excellent job of keeping the game under control. They were consistent on both sides of the ball. Both teams played their hearts out, from buzzer to buzzer. Grundy's girl was running full speed, running back from where she had been pressing, and she jumped a good 2 feet above the Seq. player...hit the ball, which fell down into her, and there wasnt very much body contact, if any, from the Grundy player. She was just trying to stop the shot. Grundy never gave up, they were playing just as hard on the last drive as they had the entire game. Good luck to both Grundy and Sequatchie during the region tournament! Would love to see a re-match of these 2 teams in the finals! Once again, i hope that Ledford is feeling much better, please keep us updated!
  12. We strive to play "hard defense" from the beginning til the end of a game! It might not appear that way, but that's the game plan, lol. The coach had no clue that was what your team was doing. A few days before when we had played Howard, there were major discrepencies with the score on the board, and in the books. At the end of the game, neither scorebook, nor the board matched up. After reviewing the film, our scorekeeper was correct. It was at this time that Coach Woodlee found out the tie-breaker rules to see if TSSAA needed to be consulted about the situation. If the point spread had been a factor, then it would have been a much bigger deal. That is when she found out what the by-laws said about tie-breakers. Nevertheless...the district meeting will be Monday, and then we will all know who plays who! Good luck to everyone! Go Lady Jackets!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. According to Coach Neely, who is over district 6AA...new rules were voted on in 2005-2006, and they go into effect THIS season. 1. Your district record, obviously 2. How you do head to head between the tied teams, with NO point spread. 3. How you did against the team above you with NO point spread. 4. coin toss Who knows how it will all end up! Might end up the same anyway, but this is what was voted on last year. This crazy tie might make things have to be reconsidered for next year. Bylaws for the district are voted on each year, and either amended or passed. It is this way in all TSSAA sports.
  14. I agree that coin toss should be a last resort! Can't help but being anxious to know where it all lands though, lol. Maybe someone that knows for sure will post.
