  1. And I won't. I coach the Bass team. I run the state high school BASS trail. I'm retired from the sports job. Not my place to be in the middle of this anymore. And I don't have time to be in the middle of it either. But I am lurking around here to see when my name is brought up.
  2. I can talk about the Bass team if you like. That's what I coach......
  3. That's what you get when you ask me at the last minute to come back and announce. Some of the kids didn't like the warm up music either of ACDC, KISS, Van Halen, Night Ranger and Autograph. But I wasn't going to play the crap they've been playing. At least the music was good on our side.
  4. I'm retired from sports media. I was appointed state director in June of TN Bassmasters High School fishing. That's where I'm needed most. I was at the game tonight until it was 35-6 Whitwell. I saw bits and pieces of the game as I was running a fundraiser. Turnovers killed Grundy. Going to bed now. Fishing tournament in the morning. To all the anglers out there..... Tight Lines!
  5. 1. Not a good night for Grundy and we've pretty much only had one good night this year only. 2. Where were the Pirate fans at? I've never seen so few fans supporting that school and never seen such a lack of support for a Vic team. What's the deal? 3. The cannon is a bad idea. Seriously. You're going to give some old person a heart attack or a veteran a flashback where he starts shooting. That thing is way too loud. Probably a violation of some sort of noise levels.
  6. Didn't want this lost in the other thread..... I posted on Twitter/FB last night but I want to say it here. Coach Ross showed the most sportsmanship and class I've seen out of the valley in years. The Warriors could have named their score last night. We are young with almost no experience and we are struggling. Coach Ross not only got to build playing time and experience with his younger kids last night but he built MILES of respect with an opponent and gave our young kids an opportunity for some little victories last night that they can build on. I sought out Coach Ross last night after the game and shook his and and thanked him. The man is obviously nothing but CLASS! So thank you to Coach Ross, the rest of the staff, the players and the fans for giving our kids respect and a chance to build little victories in our quest to get better and rebuild. David Lowrie.
  7. Haven't read all this thread and don't need to. I posted on Twitter/FB last night but I want to say it here. 8. Both Grundy jobs are open. Hadn't seen it posted.
  9. Yes. Sorry for my brain cramp. Kevin Mainord. Went to South Carolina.
  10. Yes. Trying to remember who it was on that team that was looked at that hard.
  11. Yes. Brew and Colquette took them to the second round.
  12. Bryant reached the playoffs all 6 years. However once there they were normally blown out and that's one of the big factors that got him. No one with any brains expects Grundy to be world beaters. However there have been plenty of winning seasons and some wins in the playoffs as well and folks expect to reach those levels when there's enough talent on the field. There's fence hangers that know when that is and there's fence hangers that don't have a clue. You have to battle through all of it on the Mountain along with a limited demographic which sometimes limits what you can put on the field. So...Would I love to see a state championship? Yes of course. Do I expect to see one without a serious population shift? Nope. I'm sure I'll be in trouble for saying too...... But I sure would love to see the quarterfinals again.
  13. There's a lot of talk from players of his "era" getting behind him. No matter who they hired for the team to rise above + or - .500 the community will need to rally. You need more kids in uniform for sure but those kids have to see that people care. If there isn't a new movement with people going out of their way to support the program it would be hard for anyone to succeed.....anywhere. There's a lot of support being shown on FB in the community so far. Hopefully for the program that will move to support in meetings, fundraisers, games and all other events.
  14. No biggie....this thread seems to go everywhere but Grundy most of the time....
  15. What Grundy folks need to remember is that Smith Co and the crew up there used to play in a region with.....Portland.....Trousdale and the like. That still lingers with all those teams. There will be no easy wins in the new Region. There's lots of work to do and no team should be taken lightly...I don't care what their record was last season.
  16. High school is a diploma....college is a degree...... Just sayin....
  17. I'm meeting Casey at 10 tomorrow for an interview. I'm sure assistants will take a day or two to figure out.
  18. Whitwell, Jasper, South Pittsburg and Watertown are the games outside of District games
  19. Whitwell, Jasper, South Pittsburg and Watertown are the games outside of District games
  20. Yeah.....I'll try to have a couple more details than that when I talk to Casey...
