  1. Have any schools contacted Coach Harris about coming to work for them?
  2. So does this win mean that WC is in the playoffs?
  3. congrats to the Pioneers. taking LC to the wire is a huge step in the right direction.
  4. They have already scored more points this season than the 1998 team did in 10 games. Amazing, no?
  5. At this point in the season, WC has better total offense stats than Riverdale. Wish I could have gotten Vegas to give me some odds on that happening. A $10 bet and I'd be a rich man right now. I know DC stinks but 50 points is 50 points. Nice job. (golf clap) The way I look at it, if WC could somehow manage a .500 record this year, Madewell would have to get some serious consideration for Coach of the Year in his Region, if they recognize that sort of thing. And he hasn't thrown any helmets yet as far as we know.... I'm just sayin' is all.
  6. Finally, they manage to win a game, and in a somewhat convincing fashion. Maybe they've finally tired of being the laughing stock of 5A football. That would be nice.
  7. Hang on to whatever little "small victories" you can think of. Oakland's field will be placed on the Federal Disaster Relief.
  8. I bet when Coach Britton came to watch the Pioneers this year with Coach Snow and some others he had no idea the fuss that would ensue. The man came to town on an off week to watch a game. BIG DEAL! Coach Britton's a great guy and a great coach. Let's hope that if he does take the WC job he negotiates his deal such that he can bring in what he needs to get the job done. We will just have to wait and see if the hiring committee learned anything from their last hiring fiasco.
  9. GO WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will watch the language!
  10. One has to wonder just what kind of coach would take the WC job. With the pathetic record and lack of talent it is obvious that no matter who coaches this team they are going to lose more than they win. Warren County could be a career killer for many coaches. Until Andy Jacobs is removed from the process, i'm not sure it matters who they hire.
  11. If I'm not mistaken that is the highest point total by WC all year long. Congrats WC on scoring three times.
  12. Knoxville Central vs. Oak Ridge. 1991. Todd Helton was the QB for Central. Shawn Summers was the RB for Oak Ridge. Both players went on to be teammates at UT. Both teams had several D-1 players. The game went into at least 2 OT's, maybe 3 OT's. Not positive on that, but suffice to say it was one of the best games ever played in East TN.
  13. It's academic that LC could score as many points as they wish against WC. Coach Thompson's rep is such that I would imagine he will let his starters play the first three or four series which will inevitably lead to LC scores before he takes them out of the game. I would be shocked if any of his starters even touched the field in the second half. It will be interesting to see if WC can score late in the game against the benchriders of LC. At this point I am looking for anything positive in WC football. My hope is that late in the game WC's starters can move the ball against LC's scrub players and gain some confidence on offense. An optimistic prediction LC 65 WC 10
  14. 31 players is the biggest liability of all. Math dictates that half of Oaklands players must play almost every snap in the game. Riverdale has depth to rotate and keep fresh players on the field. This one wont be close. Riverdale 42 Oakland 10
  15. I have heard insanity defined as doing the same things over and over but expecting to get different results. Seems to me that if the Principal and the AD are the ones leading the next search for a head coach...well, you get the point. Whatever happens one thing is certain. The next Head Coach at WC can't do any worse. If he wins one game he won 100% more games than Tidwell did. I hope SportsEd takes this grand opportunity to do a little research on some surrounding programs and do a feature in the Slander detailing how much WC pays its coaches vs. other teams. The good folks of WC need to see the pay discrepscancy so that they might understand that it takes money to attract talent.
  16. I wish I could be more optimistic about this recent development, but unfortunately I think this is just more complicated than one man resigning. Warren County has been a losing program for so long that the players and fans have become very jaded toward football. They don't expect to be successful, and consequently they aren't successful. It will take a radical move to reverse this course of low expectations and acceptance of failure. If the folks of WC really want to change things, they will have to pay the rent this time. That's something they were unwilling to do two years ago. I would submit that the committee that hired the last coach should be scrapped and a completely new panel should be created to oversee the next hire. It's way past time for a thorough house cleaning. How does anyone expect an AD who never won to recognize a winner in his midst? I would say to the people of Warren County to either put up the money to get a proven coach AND at least four assistants, or don't complain if you get more of the same next year. It's time to pay the rent Warren County.
  17. That kid has more maturity and work ethic at 17 than most people possess in their 30's. It definitely makes you think before you complain about your lot in life. I don't know anything about the kids numbers as far as size and speed, but I would like to think that some D-1 coaches would take a kid like that based purely on heart and desire to be the best player that he can be. I would be proud to see him wearing the Orange one of these days. College football needs more players like him.
  18. I like Riverdale's speed on Defense in this one. Warrior's in a close battle. 21-14
  19. I hear there's some boys that live in the Walter P Taylor homes that can run sub 4.3 forties as long as they have a car stereo under their arms, and the promise of an OE 800 forty at the other end. But it might just be a rumor.
  20. I am going to horselaugh when WC sneaks up and beats you guys. Overconfidence is a dangerous thing. WC has been sandbagging up to this point. They are unveiling their secret weapon tomorrow night. Woe to you raiderman.
  21. As for when WC plays Lincoln County, LC could pick any number they wished and hang it on WC's defense. My guess is somewhere in the mid 60's by the time LC has emptied the benches, put the trainer's in, and even used a few members of the band to mop up in the 4th. This weekend against Tullahoma, I would open the betting at Tullahoma -35 and go from there. As one coach on this forum put it when asked about Tullahoma's team "They are bad, but they aren't Warren County bad." I do think this might be their best chance to score a few points late in the game and maybe get some confidence.
  22. Emotionally scarred???? And this kid played football? The problem with rednecks is they are always trying to figure out some way to get rich without doing all of the things that it takes to get rich. This woman thinks that she can pimp out her son's unfortunate ability not to duck and use it to hit the "Redneck Lottery" at the cost of the Warren County taxpayers. The coach made a mistake. That much is not debatable. However, he had no malicious intent, he payed his dues, and last year the kid was quoted as saying that he was over it and just wanted to play football. A year later this piece of trash wants to profit off of an unfortunate accident. I know what would of happened to this punk when I was in school. Shame that kids today are so soft.
  23. Reckon if Mauler still has some eligibility left? That boy could hit now.
