  1. The position has not been posted. Does that mean they are looking within. OR is there someplace to apply. Some outside people are interested.
  2. Whoever will step into solid program.
  3. Which begs the question again, why did Tonya leave. The facilities are great.....the best. The talent, with Maryville, Heritage and now WB, not as much available. Money ...more at times than you can shake a stick at for men coaches. Again, why did she leave. If it is money for the program, that will not change. Knowing in detail the history of this program for the last 15 years, the women's program is second...period. Also, why did the neighbor school, Lenoir City coach leave. Probably two different reasons.

    Wow.

He has his work cut out for him there....maybe he is the man that can turn that program around. I am sure after watching that school the last six years, he will need to recruit his former high school team.
  5. Not exactly what I meant.
  6. Is Hutchens an old Young high grad. Hope they go with local. There are several out there.
  7. TSSAA Bulletin Board Macon County St. Cecilia Academy, JV Obion County Central Battle Ground Academy
  8. And the purpose of your comment is..... Information or investigation
  9. 3rfan, fprex Has this position be announced. We heard it will be. I know a former area player that would love to come back.
  10. Coach Dalton Here is link to Daily Times..... I appreciated Coach Dalton for his time with the Alcoa baseball team. He helped form my son and his future. My family and I will miss him. His love and loyalty to Alcoa was truly inspiring. Bless his family as they mourn his passing.
  11. Well oh well, more and more Alcoa people are making their way thinking they have their 6th title wrapped up... I recall a couple years ago AE had one of the best basketball teams in the state and they faced Alcoa in region tournament for a chance to go to state and ALCOA upsetted them. I have that gutsy feeling if/when AE and ALcoa match up on the field there will be a similar situation taking place but with a different outcome. Let's GO AE!! I remember that game Feb 2002. I also remember the districts that year when Alcoa won the game against AE and the ref decided to make a bad call at the end of regulation inside the three point line and put it into overtime....that was motivation for Alcoa the next time. AE would not win again that year against Alcoa. The lesson here is the last game is not near as important as the next game.
  12. I normally don't like to disparage posters, but this is the stupidist thing I have ever read on this message board. It wasn't even Alcoas decision, not to mention the loss of gate, and the band parents concession loses. Next time you want to engage in a battle of wits, don't come unarmed. http://www.thedailytimes.com/article/20091016/SPORTS/310169963 Dailey Times reports Josh Stevens: "We've been having some drainage problems with our field," Alcoa athletic director Josh Stephens said. "We determined that it wouldn't be safe to play on, especially on the visitors' side of the field, and that's all it took for us to decide to move the game." As far as gate returns: "Stone Memorial (2-6, 0-3) is located in Crossville, so both teams will be traveling to play at 4:30 p.m. (3:30 Central) in what is a home game for Alcoa, with the Tornado program still benefiting from all ticket sales." Stone Memorial had the chance to have game: "Alcoa first contacted Stone Memorial about playing the contest in Crossville, but the field there was in even worse shape after heavy rains." After all that is said and done....who cares. The game is played on a football field...the rules and the players no matter where it is played is the same. If Alcoa gains some kind of advantage to play in central Tennessee closer to Stone Memorial without near as many supporters so be it. I do not think Coach Rankin cares. A regular season game is a regular season game, that is all. If this was a game to qualify for the playoffs, I think Alcoa would do everything in their power to stay at home. Last time I heard TSSAA still requires Alcoa to play all the playoff games....for Alcoa and Coach Rankin that is when the real fun begins...stay tuned.
  13. "Taylor Hall, Sidney Goins, Dequisha McClanahan, Kelley Smith (Morristown West)" I assume with four "Best of East Tennessee" Mo West will not trip up this year going to states like last year. Four of the "best" should allow them to go directly to sectionals. This sounds a little like Oak Ridge last year.
  14. Govolsknox....you are right, he is with the Lord. I pray for the family and the CAK player.
  15. Congrats to Powell..this was a great win for them...probably one they will cherish for a long time. But Willie remember this, in order for this game to be so special to Powell your Lady Wildcats had to be great already. There is nothing special about beating halfway teams. OR is the cream of the crop around here. They are the most consistent team on top. Every year the east looks to OR first to see where they stand. I do not understand Purple's comment but OR IS a fine place to live and be from. I think they will be fine for regions (especially if the coach has anything to say about it) but that is why you play the game...they do not hand out the state trophies yet. Good Luck, look out for Bearden and Mo West. Mo West has proven to be better than I thought at beginning of year.
  16. Not ready yet...MoWest has not seen alot of the AAA powers. First need to get by Greenville, Cocke Co. and Tenn High is looking pretty good so fair. They need to get Heritage, OR, Bearden, Powell and Farraget on their schedule early on and beat them all and then you could think about states this early. At this time if they can get to sectionals, which I am not sure they can, they will need to get by OR, Powell maybe West, Farraget, Bearden is looking very good, or Heritage. This is big list to get thru..if you are a betting...I would go with OR, they can win even with a star missing, and right now a toss up between Greenville and Bearden.
  17. I mean AAU will help develop new, young players. Their system is not a large state or national Nike, but they are very good with local talent and making them better...I had two of them there. They have their style and it is close to the high school system (same with boys). With the new HS coach that may need to be adjusted. But the last four to six years, they have had very good AAU teams that have help not only AE but Futon, West and so on. As I said before, this is not a high school that will stay down long.
  18. Last year was good..the guards graduated (state tiltle and several trips to state with them). New coach, I think, new system and having to replace seniors add up to slow start. One think I know about AE...time heals all their wounds. This year will be tough. Fulton will be tough to over come. Gibbs and Seymour. But give them time, probably next year, they won't stay down...good AAU system will pick up young players.
  19. Doesn't MoWest AAA play Cloudland A tonight? MoWest beat weak single A Unaka. Need to wait til MoWest plays some good AAA teams with some good big girls. Dickson and Dupree has been playing best for a while.
  20. Maybe...but did OS lose to York tonite. Is score right...looking ahead, maybe.
  21. Have not seen Hall, but heard she is good. Torrence is very good...see can control a game...but she also disappears. May change my mind about her as season goes for Farragut. They will depend alot on her. Torrence should not be compared with Roberts...different type of players at different positions. Roberts will play most of the time 15' to post most of time. And she is very guick for that position. Burnett has some catching up to be compared to other girls listed.
