  1. Great games at Cascade on Tues. night. My second favorite team, VB, comes from behind to beat Eagleville. Props to Eagleville-I,ve been a little hard on 'em, but they great tonight. If AA doesn't foul out trying to gaurd Baker man to man, Eagleville probably wins. Coach should have mixed in some other D's to help get the ball away from Baker and keep AA on the court. VB will go to Nashville Christian Sat. They can win this one. NC plays a slow half court game that will play right into VB strength. Eagleville plays White House Heritage- I know nothing about them. Cascade plays East Literature. East Lit beat Cascade by 16 earlier. Since then Cascade playing better and EL has lost several games lately. Forrest hosts Houston Co. Don't know anything about them either. Good luck rockets- bounce back and take care of business. Cory, Chase, Chandler, Brian, Nick take it to 'em and represent 9A.
  2. To say anybody on the VB team has choked in this tourney is a little rough. Cascade played possibly their best game of the year on their home court and barely won. #42 didn't score as much as usual but he had some time on the bench due to fouls. His teammates picked up the slack like a good team does. What about Cascade - Forrest championship? Can Cascade repeat their regular season effort at Chapel Hill? Cascade will be wearing their road black again in this one.
  3. I,m not talking about fans on message boards whining about the refs. I'm talking about the players and coaches- whine, whine, whine. The rest of our district knows it. Go VB.
  4. I,ve read it all about theMVP business. Shankle will win it again this year. His team had the best record by two games and he eally carried them. Hall and Baker obviously are 2 and 3 (not in that order-who knows). both of them are juniors and thats impressive. Hall and Baker have a lot more potential in college than Shankle-no disrespect intended but that's my opinion. I love watching Baker play. VB plays him at point but he should be a wing man. There's more opportunity to feed the good post players from the wing and the kid can stroke it. The idea of backing a smaller gaurd down the lane will only work part of the time-its not too hard to stop if you are prepared for it (like at tourney time). Against VB there is always a player on the floor that you can leave to double Baker. Also, run a little 1-2-2 zone and the point has to give it up. VB should find someone else to run point even if they never score. Hall has a nice stand still shot from the perimeter and his post game has improved a bunch. Next year he'll need to add the ability to put it on the floor a little and make some jumpers and good decisions passing Next year MVP will be a close one. Both Cascade and VB have strong junior classes.
  5. Another great Cascade - VB game. its a shame one team had to lose. I could watch a Cascade - VB game every week and it would be like flipping a coin to see who would win. Every time we watch VB we become fans - great kids and coaches. Forrest is obviously a class program with 4 straight appearances in the championship game. Cascade vs. Forrest for the marbles just seems like the way it should be. We love Chase, Cory, Chandler and the rest of the Rockets - good luck on Tues. Go VB! Nothing personal against Eagleville, but just too much whining about the officials for me.
  6. How bout them rockets! Earn a little respect for our district. What kind of D did you play? If man, who gaurded MC#4? That dude is pretty tough. Could there be a rematch in te sub-state?
  7. I assume you are a VB man. I enjoy heading up your hill from time to time, but I made enough of those trips last year in tourney to cover me for a while. The VB - Forrest games this year, how did they play out? Did #42 get in foul trouble gaurding Shankle? I would have enjoyed watching them, but you can't be two places at the same time. Thanks for the invite to your mountain; I'm an old hillbilly at heart. Where do you go out to eat in Spencer?
  8. i don't know exactly what would be right for the adults. All the adults involved are good guys that had good intentions. i think things were handled poorly in Unionville that night (poor security and planning, oh and horrible officials) and I think they have been handled poorly after also. Where is the leadership in Bedford County?
  9. Tuesday night thriller in Bell Buckle. Cascade got a lead and Van Buren came storming back. VB ties it on buzzer three. Cascade regains composure and wins in OT. VB coming off Monday night game maybe not running on full tank (but certainly not running on empty). Cascade had 2 starters suspended but that's probably not much of a factor (who knows for sure) cause the replacements played fine. More impressive to me is the VB players, coach, and I guess the whole VB place. VB post 42 is TOUGH in the paint-got in foul trouble and fouled out in OT. I'm not saying any of his 5 fouls were bad call, but some were tough calls (if you're a baller you know the diff). He never reacted in any way. On what he knew was his fifth he calmly helped up the Cascade player and walked away. What a class bunch from VB! Probably the class of 9A (Forrest has a good bunch of kids too). If players know how to handle themselves somebody up the line deserves some credit too. VB is so good, maybe I'll move there (I have no idea how I coud earn a living there). I know what you do on Fridays, but what do you do on Sat in VB? See you in the Buckle at the tourney. I'll be the one in orange and black thst is also a VB fan.
  10. There were penalties - some TSSAA but some imposed by principals. Cascade - one player involved in fight 4 games, one player that left bench and had to be restrained twice 3games, one player that left bench and was peace maker 2 games. Community - one player that started fight with several cheap shots that other players saw and then an intentional shove that was final straw 2 games. Yes thats right, the Community player that started the fight got same penalty as Cascade player that was peace keeper. Thats seems uneven, but which is right? Should Community player have gotten more or Cascade player less? Also, a few (exact number unknown) Community adults banned for the rest of season. Everybody in our area should have an opinion on how this went down, so let's here them. If it ain't talked out, it will boil under the surface and we all know what that means.
  11. I think JBHS wins this one , However I think McEwen gives JBHS a scare and the game will be decided in the 4th quarter. JBHS 24 McEwen 14
  12. how many games have you seen? Ive seen all but two and almost every one of the games i went to the bench started going out in the 3rd quarter
  13. Ok im not a comedian but I'll see what i can do... Once upon a time in a county far far away, an overrated team in blue got drilled 27-7 by a team in orange that was "nothing". To justify getting beat so badly on a night so important as homecoming, fans began to complain on a certain website about the "classlessness" of the band. The blue team even went as far as to get their prinicipal to call the orange teams principal and complain. Instead of making things better however the phone call from the principal not only embarrassed the blue teams players (who knew perfectly well that the reason they lost the game wasn't the band) but also made the blue team became the laughing stock of that same certain website. All was sad in the land of the blue team...
  14. Hope Clarksville Academy doesnt bring there band or else they might win this one...
  15. hey i read this and im kinda curious of something. if cascade gets beat by eagleville like your hoping for and then cascade beats jo byrns. then lets say the records are eagleville 9-1 and has tie breaker over cascade. jo byrns 9-1 and has tie breaker over eagleville. cascade 9-1 and has tie breaker over jo byrns. how would that give jo byrns all the tie breakers? how do they figure that out? would they go by verage margin of victory or is it something else.
  16. well as a cascade fan and former player, im telling you we have just a much pride and fan support for our team as you do. we are 4-0 just like you and you have to come to our house this year so the way i see it jo byrns has to go through cascade.
  17. someone has already said basically the same thing. i was looking at the score from that game a said it wasnt a blow which i know can be misleading. As for the eagleville game yes they gave you a run for your money. but all this is beside the point. the point i was trying to make is dont count on cascade or any other team on not showing up to play. cascade will give you all a game.
  18. first off all i said was that game wasnt a blow out i didnt know what happened in that game i wasnt there. secondly my post was in response to some jo byrns players or fans running their mouths saying cascade can not beat them. cascade has a great team this year and has as good a chance as any other team in this region including jo byrns to win the region.
  19. This is funny, yea your right jo byrns is invincible and no one will come close to beating them. oh wait didnt eagleville give them a run for their money and if im not mistaking NC was no blow out. Thats the kind of attitude that will make the best teams fall and jo byrns will not go undefeated this year. to many good teams in this region.
  20. haven't had the chance to see much action this year, but #4 alex craig from cascade is an excellent 3 point shooter, not sure of his numbers but i would bet he has a good percentage, cascade is a post oriented team so he doesn't quite get as many looks as some shooters, but i know the sniper has belled cascade out a few times this year
  21. shankle will definately deserve the mvp this year, just wonering, what were his numbers last year, i know gallagher from cascade averaged a double double, i think 17pts, 12rbs, and 4assts per game.... chapel hill should do it real big this year, they were strong last year and have not lost any body besides one post i think
  22. I know that Eagleville's team is made up mostly of up-tempo guards and that will be there main scoring threat for atleast the remainder of this season probably so let me restate the question... Is eagleville working on establishing a post presence that is worthy of a little more attention from opposing defenses (in Shanks) ? Or will the post game always be used for other things in the game besides scoring ?
