  1. Give Tullahoma credit, they laid some wood to MC today. #25 for Tullahoma is electric, but there were some pretty hard hitting guys for them too. MC had quite a few guys go down with injuries from where the Wildcats laid some pretty hard hits. I agree, that region better pay attention to this Tullahoma team.
  2. Yes, it is. I played ball for quite a while. I played in front of ruthless fans. Much worse. I like the spirit, for lack of a better word, they bring to the park. It's just hard when they yell a player's name out. College or pro? I can see it. I thought Sheffield handled it well. You know, bush league may have been a lil harsh. I liked it, except for calling player's name. And, I know it's all in fun. Part of the game, and what a great one.
  3. Farragut wins it 2-1. Great game.
  4. What a game. State championship quality game. Going to the 7th with Farragut leading 2-1.
  5. Great natch up so far. 2-0 Farragut right now after 4 complete. Farragut fans = Bush League.
  6. No one has mentioned Shirley Majors. He compiled a 108-24-2 record while coaching at Lynchburg, old Franklin County High School and Huntland High School. While at Huntland High School, he had 6 undefeated seasons. I believe his coaching record while at Huntland was 70-7, after losing 4 games in his first year. After leaving the high school sidelines, he went on to the University of the South where he coached for 21 years. While there, he had a record of 93-74-5 with 2 undefeated seasons.
  7. Let's take a look at quad 2 and quad 3. Quad 2- Let's say Columbia, Tullahoma, Shelbyville, Ooltewah, and Knox West win in week 10. Quad 3- Let's say Gallatin beats Beech and everyone else in Quad 3 wins in week 10. Those are very likely scenarios. In Quad 2, the top 6 records will be a 10-0, 9-1, 8-2, 8-2, 7-3, and 7-3. In Quad 3, there will be one team 9-1 and the rest 6-4. Antioch is closer to the top seed in Quad 2, Powell, than Columbia is. That would at least have two 9-1 teams in Quad 3 and balance out the 2 quadrants. You could maybe even take Hendersonville to Quad 2 and move either Tullahoma or Shelbyville to Quad 3. There has to be a way to even out these 2 quadrants. I guess that will be left up to the $$$$ makers at the T$$AA to see if they can even the quads out. You will also have the possibility of Cleveland, Station Camp and Anderson County finishing with 5-5 records which could change the dynamics of these quads. Clarksville and Clarksville NE are split between 2 quads, why wouldn't Columbia and Tullahoma be split and/or Gallatin and Hendersonville be split? Also, Station Camp could win and Cleveland and Anderson County lose. That would give Station Camp the better record of those 2. Now somebody is going to have to be moved. WOW, can't wait to see how it all plays out. Interesting, interesting, interesting. Gotta love it.
  8. I'm not sure it's going to be the barn burner everyone is saying. The Berry kid ran well last week according to the stats. Tullahoma will come out of the gate strong and early. FC will never be able to recover. Davis will throw 2 TD's, Sheffield with a special teams TD, Berry with 2 more. That's a minimum. FC maybe 2 TD's total. Can you say blowout?
  9. Coach Jim Carr is a great man and knows the game of football. Will he be able to get his point across to the kids? I think so. He is very approachable and a great teacher of the game. The MOST unfortunate thing is the talent. It's just not there yet. He and Coach Reed will definitely have those guys motivated to play, but as we all know, there comes a point in the game where that excitement wears off and it solely relies on talent. It truly is unfortunate for him that the talent is not there and the way things go in this school system, I'm afraid they will not give him a fair chance. God Bless Coach Carr.
  10. I never said Coach Morris didn't know baseball. The guy does. Every coach has a different philosophy on the way the game should be played. His philosophy make work for him and that's great. If every coach did have the same philosophy and approach to the game, what a boring game it would be. Baseball is the greatest sport to play, watch and analyze. Yes, I did play beyond Little League and that's not the discussion I initiated nor was it Coach Morris' ability to coach. My whole point was that I felt he did some things that were against the T$$AA dead peiod rules. I will stand behind that 100% because I DID see it with my own eyes. Yes, his grandkids were walking into the indoor facility with their equipment bags, BUT so were other players. That's my whole beef with him. Why does he feel he is above the rules? When kids in the community talk about the workouts, even though not mandatory but highly encouraged, are they just making it up? Only they know. I do know what I saw and like I stated earlier... I will stand behind it 100%, because I SAW it. I'm not trying to pick on the guy, but wherever he ends up, if he does, that school better keep a tight leash on him.
  11. One rule this lady did get through was a head coach could not be the head coach of more than one sport. That's pretty stupid also. What does it matter if Carlos coaches basketball in the winter and softball in the spring. Makes absolutely no sense. If the family rule did pass, there would have to have been a whole coaching turn around at Huntland. Robertson could no longer coach any male sports since his son plays all three. The head boys basketball coach could no longer coach basketball or be moved to head position in football because his son plays those two sports. His son may play baseball also. This lady needs to go with the board that brought her in.
  12. Jealous? Didn't get what they wanted? Really? There is nothing to be jealous about. Didn't break the rules? There is a such thing as a dead period in high school sports in this state. There is to be NO contact with ANY of the players during that time. When he and several players with their bags walk into the indoor facility during this dead period I am sure there was absolutely NO contact between he and those players. When the kids are talking about it in the community, I am sure they are just making it up. When you bring in a volunteer to work on hitting and when those sessions are over, you get him certified through the TSSAA to be a volunteer coach, that's really not breaking the rules. It is just a great way by a great man(?), to teach our kids great ethics. I also heard he threw the previous coach under the bus to get what he wanted. That's also a great thing to teach our kids- if you can't get what you want, just lie, cheat and steal until you do get it. I haven't heard the confirmation, but I am glad to see him go.
  13. Have not seen Franklin Co. play but here is the upcoming schedule for the Rebels: Scrimmages 3/6 Cannon Co. 3/13 Marion Co. Regular Season- 1st week Grundy Co. Warren Co. White Co. @ South Pittsburgh Not really sure why we are playing such a weak schedule to start the year off. We need to be playing better teams to get us ready for the district regular season. Why are we playing 2 A teams and 2 AA teams? We truly need to be playing more AAA teams. We will not get better by playing smaller teams. Our boys need a challenge to get them ready. There are 5 or 6 AAA schools in Rutherford Co. and that is not a far drive to play them. We could at least get a home and home with them. Look at Coffee Co and Tullahoma. They both play Lavergne and Oakland. Coffee plays Siegel and Beech (which I believe Tullahoma played last year). I believe I even saw where Tullahoma is going to MS to play in a tournament. I see we are going to Cascade to play in a Single A tournament. I just don't get it. Somebody please help me understand this. ????????????
  14. No, I understand it is not a dead period because of snow. BUT, they had a volunteer assistant practicing and giving instruction during the "TSSAA dead period." Apparently this guy thinks he is above the rules. Neither the boys nor the girls basketball team practiced during the days they were out for snow because that is school board policy. God bless them being in the district tournament and following the rules. Unlike the baseball team doing whatever they want.
