  3. Correct, and we still have a few slots open. He will be bringing 10 of his wrestlers down also, so it's a good chance to drill with someone new. If you would like to attend and it is a financial burden, please let me know and we'll make it happen. Don't want anyone to miss out just because of finances.
  4. Nashville Catholic Wrestling Clinic featuring Scott Burnett of Burnet Trained Wrestling (www.burnetttrainedwrestling.com). April 27-29 at Father Ryan High School. Friday 5:00-7:30, Saturday 9:30-12:00 and 2:00-4:30, and Sunday 10:30-12:30. Open to the first 20 paid wrestlers, grades 6-12, experienced only. Freestyle and Greco concentration. $100 for all four sessions. Call to reserve your spot 615-319-3038.
  5. Last I heard, Watson, Woods, Ward, and Davis were still alive in consolations and would AA. Mosely is in the finals. I believe Lewis is out with an injury. Not a bad showing for the TN senior group that went. How many senior national finalists has TN had? I know McTorry won it, Philip Simpson took second I believe. Leen?

  7. By nothing of significance, I mean nothing going forward. We'll know soon enough.
  8. Man, some of you guys kill me: 1. John Henderson, aka Baby Shaq, never went to MBA. Middle school years, through the 8th grade, at St. Pious. High School at Pearl-Cohn. Never failed out of anything either. 2. Nothing of significance will come of the TSSAA investigation. Not saying it should or shouldn't, but the TSSAA does not have the financial resources to take on MBA, imo. MBA should have done exactly what KWoodroof wrote above, but they didn't and they won't...too much money and power involved on both sides of the issue.
  9. February 18, 2012, around 7:00pm.
  10. NCW would be interested. And I bet Southside (MBA) would come too.
  11. I wonder if they would consider an insider? They have many assistant coaches that are well respected by the players, though I have no idea if any are interested in the job. 1. Kevin Mawae/Chris Sanders...former Titans. 2. Travis Barclay...played college ball at Ball State, kids love him. 3. Jonas Rodriguez...D coordinator. 4. Sean Brock...probably too green, but highly thought of by the players.

    MBA

On your way to meet with the headmaster, you probably walked past the Partick Wilson Library. Or while in school there you might have applied for a Wilson Language Grant, a Wilson Science and Engineering Grant, or a Wilson Student Grant. I'm assuming "this guy" is one in the same, but I may be wrong.
  13. shheeesh, why don't you just tell SI then tnko2 and stop being such a tool dogging TJ and his accomplishments. I'm sure they would value your opinion as much as I do. Maybe inform the DI guys that won state that, well, if DII had been there, they wouldn't be state champs. I guess it's TJs fault that the rules prevented him from wrestling in a combined state. Jeez.
  14. Of course they have a shot, they are in the tournament. Can't AA unless you are in the game. Cleveland would seem to have the best odds as he is the highest ranked (19) of the TN boys. It will be interesting to see the qualifiers in a couple of days and find out if any other UTC/TN wrestlers get in.
  15. Why stop there? Why not REALLY grow the sport? It's only logical.. A-16 man bracket with multiple qualifiers from each school AA-Same AAA-32 man bracket D2A-16 man bracket with multiple qualifiers from each school D2AA-Same Girls-fully sanctioned. I mean, it's only fair to the single A team not to have to compete with the AA teams, and lord knows neither can compete with AAA. Actually, to be totally fair, separate Chattanooga AAA into thier own state tournament cause it sure isn't fair to the rest of the state to have to face Bradley, Cleveland, and Soddy. And while you are at it, carve out Baylor and McCallie, those boarding schools just have too much of an advantage. Maybe this: A-same AA-same AAA-32 man bracket Cleveland/Soddy/Bradley-16 man bracket, multiple qualifiers from each school D2A-same D2AA-same Baylor/McCallie-8 man bracket with multiple qualifiers from each school Of course, this would be subject to change yearly if some other team got good or some team didn't get a medal for a couple of years. Oops, I forgot Christian Brothers has been getting good...well, we can address that next year.

    D1 vs D2

I wouldn't count TJ out on this, in fact, I would suggest TJ easily. Looking at his schedule, he beat Talley and Biggs (3 and 4 DI), Majored Jones (who Davis beat 3-0 in the finals), won the Ryan Inv, won the McCallie Inv. beating Stevens from Pope (3rd in GA), and has a record of a whole lot of wins to 1 loss, with the loss being an OT loss to a ranked Ohio wrestler. Davis may have had the quality of oppenents that TJ has had, but to suggest Davis easily...
  17. Couple of corrections/clarifications off the top of my head. 130 Campbell pin, but I don't think it was Griffith. 140 Frank Vest pin over Casey (then gave the shhhh sign to the Ryan crowd and got a team point deducted). Fisher pinned, but not Kay.
  18. They are not holding the Sonic this year, but I was informed that they plan to have it again next year. The Harpeth Tournament is this weekend and it is not league affiliated. Hendersonville has a dual taournament every year. West Wilson just had their round robin tournament. Past the local league and a few open tournaments, you don't have much until AAU cranks up. Check out their web site, that may help: www.tnyouthwrestling.com.
  19. Well, you did a really good job. One thing I think would be popular to add is a photo tab or link that would allow an event photographer/parent/coach to upload pictures of the tournaments. May even generate some residual income through purchases. In no way a critisism, just a thought. Keep up the good work.
  20. Much, much better. Easy to navigate, all the pertinent information readily available. Good job. Who designed it?
  21. Along those same lines, we have a middle school team entered in the duals and just lost our 180 to injury. If anyone is interested in filling the slot, please let me know. Entry fee is covered. gorhamdent@aol.com
  22. Nashville Catholic Wrestling sign ups for the middle school season (grades 5-8) are Sunday, October 17, at 4:30 in the Father Ryan High School Library. Please follow the link below for more information. www.nashvillecatholicwrestling.com.
  23. No, Baylor had a few kids this year receive merit based aid. I fact, they give out a couple of merit based aid packages per year. Only catch is that the recipients cannot participate in TSSAA sports. And I know of at least one DI school that gives out need based aid, but again, the recipients of the aid cannot participate in sports if they take it.
