  1. We must have been typing at the same time, so I'll address this. I can assure you Nashville Catholic does not mind getting beat...we search out teams to beat us, and we find them...nothing wrong with that.
  2. Here is what happened. Nashville Catholic did not wrestle Blackman in a dual because Blackman did not get a tssaa official to call the match. The bylaws of the conference required all matches to be officiated by tssaa certified officials. Nashville Catholic was not going to go against the bylaws. Bill understood our position and subsequently offer a bylaws change motion to allow AAU officials to call conference duals if both coaches agreed...it passed...so now the MTWA can use aau officials if both coaches agree. So the issue was conference bylaws, nothing else, and it has now been addressed...and you can still believe the best. I'm sure Nashville Catholic will wrestle the Sharpshooters in the future as they value good competition. I'm pretty sure that Sharpshooters wrestled Baylor and/or Cleveland in the Tullahoma duals, held, I believe, in Tullahoma.
  3. Highly effective move. Only known counter, that I've seen, is THE GILLIGAN. Personnally, I prefer THE MARYANN, but that's just me.
  4. Middle schools that were there: Hendersonville, Mt. Juliet, Hunter, Two Rivers, and Nashville Catholic.
  5. I don't know the individual scores but I do know that BA won two matches. Marchetti bumped to Cash but Cash bumped too.
  6. I'm thinking maybe a few teams do this, which is great. I know Father Ryan, for the last six years at least, has adopted 5 or 6 families during Christmas. The wrestlers and cheerleaders purchase the gifts and, I think this is the best part, personally deliver the gifts to the families. This year the middle school team, Nashville Catholic, is joining them. It is a super way to help those less fortunate and connect with the true meaning of Christmas.

    MBA 215

Personally, I think that's a crock. You want to get bigger, stonger, faster, and develop some mental toughness, lift and wrestle. Especially if you are a lineman-the handfighting skills alone are worth wrestling. If that's the reason they give then I'm inclined to believe that they just want some time off. And that's fine, not everyone can handle multiple sports and need some down time to recharge and study (being mba and all), but I ain't buying that "they want to get bigger stronger faster" so they quit bull.
  8. Dickson County 4th, Freedom 5th. I'm sure Ellie will post the complete results once she catches her breath. And medal or not, 5 matches in a day is great.
  9. I can assure you that there was no dodging. Ryan, I'm sure, put out who they thought could get a win and for the most part that was a jv wrestler. And for the most part it worked. Happens everywhere.
  10. I would think the Man Law determinant would be whoever wins on the mat, not just idle talk. Winner takes the Irish name, loser takes whatever the winner decides. Oh wait, didn't the green stop wrestling the purple? Maybe they can step up and take the challenge, put the Irish on the line so to speak, but I wouldn't bet on it. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  11. You can give any reason you want but nowhere in the TMSAA bylaws does it say TMSAA school can't compete with non TMSAA schools. I wish them luck but you don't get better doing what they are doing, and they won't. Four years ago Nashville Catholic was the best middle school team in the area. Those kids are winning state championships at Ryan now. Five and six years ago Grassland was the best middle school in the area. Those kids won state championships at Franklin. As good as those teams were, I believe they both got beat by someone because they looked for teams to beat them...that's how you get better. Anyone can go undefeated and dominate church league. Before six years ago I'm a bit fuzzy so I'm sure you can tell me where the dominate Mt. Juliet middle school wresters won state.
  12. Back in what day were they ever dominant?
  13. Philippians, that's the second time you have mentioned NCW (that I recall). Please don't bring them into this. There is no debate concerning NCW and I'm not sure where you got that idea. And let me be perfectly clear, NCW does not consider itself at a disadvantage to anyone and I'm not sure where you got that idea either. We applaud the Sharpshooters success and look forward to seeing them on the mat for years to come.
  14. That's what I said. Hunter Middle, i.e. Beech, is a club team that feeds into Beech High School. Though most of their wrestlers are from Hunter Middle, not all are, making them, like over half of the league, not true middle school teams.
  15. That's basically correct as to it's inception. Five years ago we formalized the league with bylaws and a league tournament. Then we added a JV tournament, which is the best thing we've ever done. Nashville Catholic is not the only "club" team. In fact, most teams in the league are club teams. It would be more correct to say most teams only feed one highschool. The only true middle school teams, to my knowledge, are Lipscomb, West Wilson, Sycamore, and Mt. Juliet. Maybe Warren County. Blackman, Cookville, Hendersonville, Clarksville, NCW, Tullahoma, and Beech are all clubs pulling from more than one middle school. Smyrna used to be a middle school member until they dropped their team and rolled them into Blackman. Forrest was a true middle school when they were a member, since dropping their program. Same with Springfield and Nashville Christian. It is an independent league, with teams either AAU or USAW affiliated.
  16. NCW finished third. Baylor vs Sharpshooters would be a good match. NCW lost to both by about the same score. They, by far, are the best middle school teams in the state.
  17. Doesn't sound a promising for BA as I originally thought. I find it ironic that the TSSAA is counting on the two new conservitive judges to overturn the verdict against the private schools.
  18. I hope not, since this is a middle school tournament. And OLPH has been tough in the past-feeds Notre Dame and the other privates in Chattanooga. So Baylor walks away with this one, then LaRue, OLPH, and MBA?
  19. Looks like a tough tournament. You'd have to pick MBA, McCallie, or Baylor as the favorite. If that Knoxville team is Maryville, they are always tough. And LaRue is the #1 rated Kentucky team. Hendersonville and Tullahoma are always strong. Don't know anything about Fairview, Dickson, etc.
  20. Well good for Chris, he's always seemed like a good guy. Bad for his future though, not having a feeder program. Hopefully he'll address that and maybe he'll have more pull being the HS coach. Hard to do much at that level with first year freshmen.
  21. Hey tnko, you seem to be in the know about the program. What's up with the middle school? Why no coach? Could they not find one or has the school dropped the program? They were in the MTWA from the start and always had a full team, now nothing.
  22. The only thing that concerns me about Smyrna is that the middle school coach bumped up to the high school and a new middle school coach was not named. They are not in the MTWA this year, dropping out because they had no coach. Does not bode well for the future of their high school program.
