I think Beech will be fine down the road but I believe Riverdale will be too much this week.

I can see reasoning behind all of the prognosticators picking MJ to win this game but some of the scores are surprising. Has any of them watched Gallatin’s offense this year??

MJ on film can be sporadic. I guess all teams are that way but I see some reasons for hope. Not saying Gallatin wins by any stretch but definitely reasons to be hopeful. I am sure MJ feels the same watching Gallatin’s defense. If Gallatin has any chance of winning this game, the defense will have to be much better than the previous two outings. The MJ runningbacks I feel are the best they have seen thus far.

Total yardage does not mean you’re more physical. A lot of things determine that like field position. Your fumble came as a direct cause of a contact hit, that is physicality. That defense that is not that good held your offense to less points than Gallatin scored. But you’re correct, SC did not have the cramps that Gallatin did. SC platoons more than Gallatin and at times your first stringers were going against our reserves. Perry can look at all the film he wants and I am sure he will. MJ is picked to win the region and most think Gallatin is 3rd or 4th so be it. Gallatin’s offense is a big problem for any opponent. SC is going to win some games this year, how many is yet to be determined but I think they are a playoff team.

Well….that’s being subjective. Physicality was definitely shown by Gallatin and the refs blew calls both ways unless you think that a 10 yard sack with a face mask results in a 25 yard gain. The first onside never went 10 yards either. But, it was an exciting game and SC should win some games this season. On that particular night Gallatin was just better and made the plays they had to in order to win.

Have you seen MJ play this year?

I am hoping for a few adjustments on defense this week in preparation for a tough MJ squad. The offensive timing and snapping need to get better but so far the offense has been really fun to watch. Everything is still a work in progress but I like the intensity and will of this team. 1st region matchup for both and with this being another rivalry type game, not the caliber of Hendersonville and SC but still a heated matchup, I see both teams coming out ready to get another victory. MJ will provide a huge test, Perry will have a very prepared team coming in. With Gallatin only having 4 home games, this game will be half of them in the first 3 weeks. Travers could have a career night just like the previous 2 QB’s if things don’t change. Should be a great atmosphere and a lot better temperatures!!

You hit upon a great point. The O-line is doing their job and providing him with time and opening up some running lanes. Like you said, still a lot to clean up but you have to like where the O-line stands right now. D-line is playing real physical and tough too. Still have to work on the containment but they are applying pressure.

Only return yardage was after 20 yards in penalties on a kickoff and had a 60+ yard punt. I doubt you get much return yardage if any.

I don’t know about Special teams. Our kicker is solid.

They were large but not overly physical. I think we showed who hit harder and who could hold those linebackers at bay. Gallatin had what 5 or 6 sacks on the night? Heck, if those receivers catch all those passes that hit them in the hands, they would have had 400 yards passing. Game was a lot closer than it should have been.

Things are changing just have to give it time. People close to the program are seeing a lot of changes and everybody feels we got the right guy for the job at hand. And that goes beyond on the field activities.

The middle schools have been raided by private schools. Both starting QB’s for the middle schools are gone and two of the other top players that were coming up are no longer there either. I realize it takes a team but when your studs are gone others have to step in that might not have ever started before.

Not sure when the last time was when Gallatin’s freshmen had a winning season. What 6 or 7 years ago?
