  1. and it's time for my prediction. (I moved this from the other thread) First of all, games are usually won by the team that makes the fewest mistakes:in this category I'll take McCallie. Yes they've made many mistakes all year, but Coach Potter doesn't tolerate that, and he especially won't this week. I'd think that McCallie will play it's most mistake free game of the year that night. Second, a kicking game is very important: no one will argue when I pick BA in this category: John Vaughn (Auburn commitment, hooray!), and Kody Bliss (Auburn is a great school Kody...) are the most poweful kicking game in the state. Period. No one can top that. A third key for winning a big game is great players making great plays. Both teams have great players. McCallie has nationally recognized QB/LB/PK/P Ryan Moore, Chris Johnson, a fine runner, Corey Remillard, the first year split end who has had a knack for big plays, and a stout defense led by LB's T.J. Brooks and John Shanks. They're banged up, but they'll still be very solid. No questioning BA's talent either. Besides the thunderfeet, they've got a very solid QB in Adcox, and a great backfield with Townsend, Mustin, and Holbert at FB. Chad Fuson is a good reciever, and King Dunlap is a monster on both lines. Holbert and Mustin are amazingly hard hitters at LB, and anchor BA's D as well. Overall, I'd give BA the slight advantage here, but it's negligable because the most talented team doesn't always win. Fourth is fan support. The game is at BA, so that's an obvious disadvantage for McCallie, but they'll bring fans and a band too, so things won't be that bad. Fifth: Coaching. Both coaches are great. Carlton Flatt is a legend statewide, and there's no arguing that he's always been a fine coach. Coach Potter is unarguably one of the finest younger coaches in the state, a great motivator, and always has a team prepared for whatever they face. He's also had BA's number the past few meetings. I take McCallie here. Finally, we come to the intangibles. McCallie is the defending state champion, and recently they've taken care of business against BA. The boys have a lot of heart too. BA can make a claim to be the best team in the state right now, and that may not be unwarrented. They're a heck of a team, with a legend as a coach and homefield advantage. I take McCallie's recent history as the choice intangible here. So McCallie wins 3 of my categories, and BA wins 3. Looks pretty even, though this isn't exactly scientific. If you want scientific, talk to Earl Nall or Sonny Moore (ha ha ha). It will be a great game, and I wish I could go. My (changed) pick is McCallie 24, BA 20. Good luck Big Blue!!
  2. ha ha ha..hey jimcantore, good luck! take it to them

    Hardest Hitters!

There's been a lot of talk about Tyler Griffin from BA, but I'd submit two other names from BA. Darren Mustin and David Holbert. I played against them last year, and they brought the hardest hits from anyone we played all year. Anyone who has had to block them would agree with me, the kids are hard...
  4. to make purple lion happy, my prediction for the game is in WesVol's D2 predictions thread...nevermind, I moved it here [Edited by rhinob59 on 11-13-02 8:21P]
  5. hey Harbin, there are scalpers everywhere down here on game day. Most are looking for somewhere between $30 and $50 for a ticket. I'm not sure what kind of seats those are. Hope you get down here, it'll be a slobberknocker...
  6. Didn't we already establish that that kid doesn't go to CPA and he does go to BA? But who knows..on another board he said he goes to McCallie. Sounds like somebody with problems to me. Sadly I won't be at the game Friday..Auburn is playing Georgia, and that's going to be a great game, and probably more fun to be at than the high school game anyway. I hope all of you make it to college someday, it's so fun...
  7. you're not even worth a response anymore... [Edited by rhinob59 on 11-12-02 9:57P]
  8. who the heck is Chris Davis?
  9. I know it Wes, I have nothing but respect for BA. Uncle Yogi sure is a great guy, ain't he...
  10. my name's not bob bud..and I'm not making a prediction because I honestly have no idea who is going to win. I can't pick this one..maybe because I hate idiots like you at BA so much that I don't even want to consider giving them the pleasure of seeing me pick BA to win. There's a good chance BA will win, and there's a good chance McCallie will win. I will make this prediction though..whichever team scores the most points friday night will win..so we'll leave it at that.
  11. ha ha ha..I don't know if I can talk to you..you don't sound to bright

    Best Kickers

Maybe even sooner...hey itzme or Wes or someone else from BA, what are their most recent college plans? Please tell me Bliss is still looking at coming down here to Auburn..he'd be a great weapon that we'll have great use for after Duvall's graduation Read the NFL stats in 5 years and you will know who they are.

    Best Kickers

why does this question keep coming up? everyone knows the best two in the state are John Vaughn and Kody Bliss from Brentwood Academy, but that has been established in about 50 other threads already
  14. uh oh..do I smell a civil war brewing in Fayetteville?
  15. I've talked to a few of them, but didn't get a chance to ask.I'll let you know later this week...
  16. You've got crappy information Kyle. They're missing their starting running back, that's it. They're banged up at a few positions, but injuries can never be an excuse. It will be a lot closer than your pick, but I'm not going to make a pick on this one. I will say that whoever wins will win by a touchdown or less though..great analogies Wes
  17. just saw the story on Sportscenter..I can't get over how great that is. Possibly one of the classiest acts ever by the opposing coach, and the most heartwarming story I've heard in a long time.
  18. hey BA dude, why does that matter to the kids he works with? I didn't see him getting nominated for any national awards, did I?
  19. good post, I don't agree with all your points though, and this should be on the Public Private board
  20. from what I've seen and heard, that is a pretty legitimate post..although it's definately sarcastic, that seems to be a prevailing attitude among public supporters...if we can't beat them, we'll just get rid of them
  21. Now all of you know that if for some strange reason you had won the game last night, or even won state, you would have been on here speaking high praise for Coach Thompson. Sounds pretty hypocritical to me...by the way, where's Falcon4? I remember the score you said to remember..but I don't understand why you wanted us to remember it, cause it sure wasn't right. A phrase comes to mind... "fair weather fans"... [Edited by rhinob59 on 11-9-02 11:02A]
  22. It's really something that gets instilled in you over your time at McCallie. If McCallie can't win a state title, then I'd much rather see anyone else win it except Baylor. I think that's the sentiment of a lot of people involved with McCallie. On a high school level it's very comparable with Auburn-Alabama, Oregon-Oregon State, Tennessee-Georgia, Texas-Oklahoma etc.. there's just not a whole lot of kind feelings for the school across the river. I think there may be more of that sentiment in the athletes who compeate against them, and that's why at least I am so fervently against them. [Edited by rhinob59 on 11-9-02 9:01A]
  23. it wasn't as long a trip this time. McCallie left Chattanooga on Thursday and spent that night in Nashville, and then finished the trip Friday-thus no long bus ride for the players to sleep through on the way to the game.
