  1. I would like to hear some opinions on having the shot clock in place at the High School level. I don't really care that the game could be sped up a bit if it were in effect. If I were a referee, I could see a benefit. This thought came from playing against Moore County recently. They held the ball at midcourt for almost 3 minutes waiting on us to come and get it.

    Irony

Same problem here! I started putting my cell phone to good use.
  3. I have seen this take place over the years numerous times. I believe that if the game is out of reach and there is only a few minutes left, dance with who you brought! It's a slap in the face to put the subs in with a couple of minutes left in the game. At this point in the game, the coach has all but given up. By the beginning of the fourth quarter, both coaches know which way the game is going. If the starters have not gotten the job down in first three quarters, chances are very slim that it will change drastically in the fourth. For the most part, all the bench players need desperatly are minutes on the floor. When more than a couple of minutes are played out by the subs, the players and coaching staff should both benefit. The name of the game is to prove you worth. With a run away game, there lies a great opportunity for the developmental process to begin. Obviously the subs are on the team for some reason. If they are not worthy of a chance when one is available, they shouldn't even dress out. I think this is refered to as the practice squad. I realize that the game revolves around emotions, momentums and hundreds of decisions. If a player is just given some legitmate chances, they could actually bring more to the table than previously realized.
  4. I have been seeing the same thing with the % of shots made. The old story of shooting for the high % shots doesn't seem to work for us. The girls did have a bad night with the ball going where it was intended. Am I the only one who wonders why during warm ups, there is so much shooting from behind the arch? When we do get our post player back in action, that should help create some more high % shots.
  5. Jamie, even you have to admit that the performance from the Raiders sure didn't reflect the nice 23 & 2 record! I wasn't even sure for a long time that either team would score past 20. Cornersville sure didn't show much tonight. Congrats on the win!
  6. Congratulations to the Middle School program. This sounds like the High School squad just increased to about 23 players next year! With loosing only one senior and having a good up and coming fresman class. How many more players can a team take on? Could this possibly create a JV team? Could even create more problems!
  7. I wonder why the Tennessean forgot to put the asteric beside the score? Good win Bulldogs !!
  8. Coach Wilson has done an outstanding job! Its amazing to see the difference that has taken place. These guys needed this change to get them going in the right direction. GO DOGS!!
  9. I'm still predicting that the Bulldogs go far this season. Big Jake will get them there!
  10. How can a team that is loaded up with talent, look so bad? This team is very deep, but the results have not shown it. Has the move of Lizzie affected the team that much? Could the problem be more than that? Could the team morale be in jeopardy?
  11. That was one more exciting game. Watching the coach get the most out of his players is a welcome site. When they do get healty, they will be dominating! This was Jake Agents first game of the season and he picked up from where he left last season, maybe even better. Might see a boys district banner somewhere in the gym when it's all said and done.
  12. Cornersville is looking really strong this year. Loaded with talent, and one of the key players yet to come off the bench. It seems the best thing to happen for this team is the new Coach. With the disapointing last few seasons, looks like things are turning around.
  13. Cornersville won all 4 of their games: Cascade 1-0; Franklin County 3-0; Oakland 5-4; Community 10-0
  14. This was in the Saturday Tennessean, page 2 in sports.
  15. I was suprised to find this topic not discussed. If anyone has not seen this or heard about it both Cornersville Coach Hagen and Marshall Co. Coach Jeremy Qualls have resigned. I don't know a thing about the Marshall Co. coach but the Cornersville's Boys Coaching position was held by "Interim" Coach Matt Hagen. Matt actually was not assigned to the High School but the Elementary School. If C'ville has found a permenant Coach then I can understand the situation. If he got the "boot" because of not winning, that's a different story. When was the last time the Boys program had a winning season? I only hope that he didn't loose his job at the Elementary School. I guess the lesson learned here is don't volunteer to help, or you might just become the 'scape goat" If anyone has some reliable information to add, I sure would like to read it.
  16. I guess this was a good year for us not to match up! That "We beat Cornersville everytime we play them" might have changed.
  17. Isn't this time of the year exciting? Wow, just like the sweet sixteen! Well atleast we know each other very well by now. Another battle of the border played in a neutral site! We can all rest assured that both teams Warriors will be on top of their game. I just love this stuff!! Hey Jamie I will be looking for you tomorrow, I will be the one wearing maroon and hollering at the refs on our side. Congratulations to you Richland!
  18. Cornersville defeated Wayne Co. 45-43. This was another exciting game which was down to the last few seconds. Go Lady Dawgs!!
  19. Who would have thought it! Cornersville came out hitting on all cylinders tonight. Moore Co. didn't know what hit them and didn't overcome. The look on the crowds face was a state of shock. I am sure that looking at the Cornersville crowd was just as astounding. Congratulations to Coach Landers for sharing the Coach of the year award also. It has been too many years without such a succesful season! Congratulations to the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs!!
  20. Well according to the predictions, Cornersville pulled off the upset. For the third time this year Cornersville beat Richland. Cornersville was behind the entire game until the last minute of the fourth quarter. The game went into overtime and Cornersville won 45-44. Sorry JamieRoper, I know you pull for your team as hard as anyone!!
  21. I agree with phargis. If there was an award for the best posts, it would be a toss up between Jamie and Pageman!!
  22. Does anyone have useful information about when, where, etc. on distric 11A post season play?
  23. I agree that Eagleville has a great selection of items. Some key elements that make this up are great help. Also the school sometimes puts the last word in what can be prepared and served. I have had several years experience in this field. It takes alot of time and effort to get everything ready for a ballgame. If you have not lugged a couple of carts around at Sams full of concessions you wouldn't have any idea. My hats off to all of the volunteers that make it happen! This is another stat that goes un-noticed just as assists do!
  24. There are some really good points listed here. Some others that don't get recogonition are "Setting a pick" or taking a "Charge". These sometimes are some great momentum shifters! Things like this can help determing the out come of a close game. Because they don't show in the books, most of the time they go unrecognized.
