  1. Jackets will have it turned around when they need to. TC 30 MC 13
  2. 5-3 vs. run. It creates so many blocking problems for offenses and frees your LBs up to run and hit. I would have to go with a 3 or 4 man front of some kind vs. the pass. Would really depend on the types of routes you were facing and what type of athletes you have as cover guys. Game planning is key either way.
  3. Westmoreland is always tough but Smith County has seen their style offense way too often of late and will be ready for the Wing T. Ask Portland. The question marks will be on offense with new RBs, QB and replacing some linemen. However, folks are right about this years depth. They have more than I can ever remember on the hill. We'll know a little more tonight. One advantage - Smith has a buy before the Westmoreland game. York will be tough. They always are. 1) Smith County 2) Westmoreland 3) York 4) You boys fight it out.

    QBs

Brady had alot of growing to do last year and for the most part got the job done. He was huge against Trousdale, Sequoia and Portland just to mention a few. As for you, wardy, take a spelling class.
  5. There's a reason why they play the game. You know, they don't declare a winner until that final horn blows.
  6. Just to think that weights aren't important is total stupidity. And to think that a guy who is willing to work with the kids and take the time out to do it is valueless, that's ignorance. If you're a coach and you care, you'll research it yourself and make sure that things are going correctly. This is ridiculous to even be talking about. My hat goes off to all those with a strength and conditioning program and to all those who take the time to set up the workouts and try to keep the kids motivated.
  7. Whoo, getting heated in here. All I want to know is; if you have a good weight program, why not go to the meet and lift? Let your kids compete every chance they get. Seems like it can only help to me.
  8. Thanks. It looks like their bats are coming alive.
  9. Ok, Everyone here is an idot, mustang, what are you doing? I believe what wardawg is saying is that having a strength and conditioning program does not turn kids into muscle bound neandrathals. Weight lifting is not the only training you are doing. There is plyometrics and aerobic work outs, speed training, form running, stretching. All this is involved in a good strength and conditioning program. Please, let me see a bunch of kids coming in wearing T-shirts that say, "We don't have a strength and conditioning program." You know, when you can't recruit the players who are already amazingly blessed, you have to do something to try and develop them.
  10. Yes, Lipscomb beat us 3 or 4 times but they were always competitive games. One was an overtime game, one by 6 points. But you know, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Anyway, I don't think taking beatings is anything that Smith County has EVER done on a regular basis. If you know your high school football history you will know and can't deny that I'm right.
  11. Tennisguy, I wasn't talking to you about the region thing. I was actually talking to the guy who has green in his posts. And yes, I am very well aware of the talent level in the region you're talking about. That's what I meant by the unless you're in the region with Fulton and Austin East and Anderson County so forth thing.
  12. So, what, you'll run away with it leaving everyone in your dust? Maybe you know something we don't. Just tell me why they weren't in the weight competition.
  13. When will it be made up? and what's wrong with charging people to see a softball game at a "public" park? Isn't a football field or a basketball court open to anyone who wants to come? I believe it is. But yes, you do have to pay to watch. Those girls deserve a little monetary support just like any other athletes playing any other game.
  14. Hope you're right , Sleep. Only time will tell.
  15. You're right Baseball Junkie. One bobble can cost a pretty penny in this region. Hey, OWLSRULE, take it from experience; these Macon County people take this stuff very seriously. Watch yourself. They'll be on you in a heartbeat.
  16. Yes, I heard that Murray was taking the Defensive Coordinator job at Beech.
  17. Trust me. T.T. Harper was as good a back as Trousdale had had in a long time. They had a very good team those two years.
  18. Those numbers are pretty close but you know we won't have that many after summer workouts and two-a-days. But it's good to see the interest anyway.
  19. If things go right, we could have one of the best teams we've had in years. We will miss our Seniors tremendously but they left us with alot of learned lessons and helped the younger kids grow up alot. Look out for us this year.
  20. You guys have gained some respect this year but I don't believe a good team will fear anyone. It' s gonna be tough to replace those Seniors with all that experience. Talent or coaching alone can't win this region.
  21. Our last region championship was in '99 when we were 2A and battling Lipscomb, Goodpasture and Westmoreland. I believe we will get another and I believe it will be soon. Hey, tennisguy, just wanted to say good post earlier.
  22. I think they will be good again but I don't know about state champs.
  23. I send prayers your way from Smith County. May God bless the friends, family and the young man. I hate hearing these things involving young kids.
