  1. Really? I didn't see the Oakland vs. MUS game scheduled anywhere. Must have missed that. /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />
  2. Very athletic DE. Speed rusher type. Will need to gain strength to play SEC football, but big upside if he concentrates on getting better and playing with consistent intensity. Good pick-up for Ole Miss.
  3. ...and to the four that already did...even though those don't really count to many fans.

    BA vs MUS

Clearly another great MUS team. Well deserved DII Championship, and a building dynasty. Congrats also to a BA team that got to the final game facing a lot of adversity and animosity. Pay it forward and live the experience.

    BA vs MUS

I'll go ahead and nominate this one as the biggest head-scratcher post of the year.

    BA vs MUS

Thanks for not mentioning that 2004 state championship game. Ouch! That was a really good Owls team that season.

    BA vs MUS

Wow! Your sense of "history" is either very short term or fatally flawed.
  8. I think most of the guys are trying, but I have to admit that some seem to take some plays "off". I do wish that some of the seniors would step up and take the bull by the horns. Jabari and Mason were great senior leaders, as many of the guys on past teams were. I haven't seen that this season in the few games I've watched. I do think there is still time to get well.
  9. I think most BA fans (and other interested parties) know what the weaknesses of this Eagles team are. All of the pre-season hype anticipated that some components of the team would improve with experience this year, but the hard fact is that they did not. There are a couple of key positions that BA is not very talented, and football remains a team game. With the competition that BA played against this season, those weaknesses show up.
  10. What could possibly give you the impression that BA is going to travel to Memphis and beat Briarcrest?
  11. No, not at all. Corporate prayer in a church is very important. I am a hypocrite in many areas, and way too often. I strive to improve in that. I pray a lot, and work towards continually, but not so much in public. It surely doesn't bother me when others do so. BTW...I always liked Jesus better than Paul! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> BTW deux...I don't think independent schools hurt government schools in any way.
  12. I didn't phrase that well. I meant one that does not mention a specific deity or prophet. For example, Henry Ford High School in Dearborn Michigan is over 50% Muslim. I would not want them to be saying anything about Mohammed in a public prayer.
  13. Well said. I have never understood the argument that some (by no means all) private supporters make that somehow they are "paying double". I am also in the camp that there must be no official religion in any government school. People who advocate for that should be careul what they wish for. Even if Christianity was the official religion, it might not be "your kind" of Christianity. No issue with neutral pre-game prayers, but one needs to be watchful.
  14. I don't know of a single DII supporter that would be against this. Might be a good trend. Maybe the Williamson County and Rutherford County teams could follow. BTW, all of the public schools offer 100% financial aid, last time I checked.
  15. Actually, it would have been much more of a major hit to DI large in Memphis. That's why Carter was hitting the panic button.
  16. I think that most of the BA posters have given up on CoachT. You can probably discern why. They have to put up with several ridiculous attacks for every reasonable exchange that takes place. As for me, both my kids have graduated, and I simply don't go to the games anymore.
  17. First time I've seen BA play this season. Not sure where all this awesome talent they are supposed to have may be hiding. They could very well lose to BGA next week. Easily. Looks like EHS vs. MUS in the finals this year.
  18. Actually not. The ref in that BA - MBA game was reprimanded for hurrying too fast to put the ball back in play, not for any non-call for illegal motion, nor for any timing issues at the end. I understand that MBA fans are still bitter about that loss, but revisionist history must be pointed out. I really don't like hijacking threads, and hope that won't happen here. Sounds like agreat Ravenwood-MBA game last night. Congratulations on a hard fought win.
  19. No you didn't. Don't make things up please. I can't remember anything posted here that could in any way be construed as anything close to that. Good luck to both teams Friday. Nice to see these matchups.
  20. As with most of these types of fan based polls, there is a bias towards more recent players, no doubt. For what it's worth, I did vote for Billy May...the best receiver ever in DII IMHO. Hadouken, you certainly could make a valid argument either way on both Tyree Ford and Tyler Griffin making the list, and I guess you could also argue about Joe Birdsong, but other every other BA and MBA player on the list is a pretty righteous choice.
  21. Oher never played in the DII AA (old AAA) division, nor did Ryan Karl. Oher definitely would have made the team, but I'm not so sure about Karl. Remember, this is about their play in high school, not what they did later. I guess Golden Tate just didn't get the votes, although there are certainly many running backs that could conceivably be rated equal to or ahead of the two chosen. Having seen both Ingle Martin and BJ Coleman play, though both were great high school football players, I think the voters got that one right.
  22. If you are a student, or a parent of a student, you should do some additional research before the college application process begins. Lumping in all those "party schools" together is not representative of the relative quality of the institutions, nor is it representative of the admissions standards. In the latest US News & World Report rankings of National Universities, Wisconsin was #35, Florida #49, Alabama #83, and Tennessee #105. Not that rankings are everything, but if your assumption is that a student can screw around in high school and still get into a Wisconsin or a Florida, that would be a big mistake. Unless you are a Division 1 recruited athlete, it takes a 3.8 GPA or better, as well as very good (I'm talking 30+ ACT, or 1950+ SAT) test scores to get in to those schools. When they get there, I'm certain there will be good parties as well! Brentwood High is an excellent school, BTW, and they certainly have their share or more of graduates going to the top universities.
