  1. Should be a great game. Cookeville is playing really well right now coming off that victory vs. Blackman. I think that South Doyle's coach used to be an assistant coach at Cookeville with Coach Chris Baker. He is doing a really great job at South Doyle. I believe his name is Chad Smith. Should be a great game, my question will be how will Cookeville guard SOuth Doyle. SD district is the toughest in the state and they have been quite the competitor down the stretch, I think distrcit 7AAA is down, so I wonder if they have seen a team that provides a diffcult matchup. South Doyle is not very tall, but athletic and they play well together and play well within their system. My feeling is though that Cookeville will be hard to beat at home.
  2. District 3AAA will have all of their teams bow out in the 1st round of the region tournament. District 4AAA tema s will manhandle district 3AAA teams. District 4AAA is the best district top to bottom. 8 great basketball schools. No one in District 3AAA would finish in the top 4 of district 4AAA.
  3. Who in this district is playing really well right now heading into district play? Here are my thoughts and reflections. These standings are based soley on my observations and who I think is playing well right now going into the final 2 weeks of the season. 1) Maryville - shooting the ball really well, I don't except the post season meltdown of a year ago to happen again. Senior dominated team that I believe has a great shot at the 'boro. 2) William Blount - the biggest high schol basketball team in the state. Incredible size. Their guards are weak, but the size inside covers it up well. Will do well in district tournament b/c it is at their place. 3) Bearden - somewhat overrated in the sense that they don't have great talent, but they know how to win. I believe that they could struggle in district and region tournaments. Blue and Cox are stepping up. 4) South Doyle - the scariest/youngest team in the district. Next year will be the team to beat along with Farragut, BUT this year they are playing really well and have played some great basketball as of late. They are losing some close games, I am sure no one wants to play them in the district tournament - especially Farragut! 5) Farragut - loads of talent, no depth, incredible athletes, Torrence is a load inside, but Gibson is doing well leading the team. They are winning lately on fluke plays, choked against Bearden, think maybe the luck has run out. 6) West - a team that I feel has already peaked. Incredible athletes again, better than average shooters, but most learn how to play basektball together and in tight situations. 7) Heritage - Big Joe Lindsay inside, he had 33 last night against Sevier County. No very athletic but play hard. If you can get Lindsay breathing hard then you never know. Toro is a head case, abd Bruce is starting to play like a sophomore again. Good young point guard. 8) Sevier County - they have only have 1 victory. They are capable of shooting the ball realy well, if they do, then they are dangerous. No inside game and strictly play 2/3 zone. Current tournament seeds: 1- Maryville 2- Bearden 3 - Farragut 4 - William Blount 5 - West 6 - South Doyle 7 - Heritage 8 - Sevier County My predictions for region representatives; 1, Maryville 2, William Blount 3, Bearden 4, South Doyle Should be a great district tournament, I hope to see large crowds there every night. What do other fans of District 4AAA think.
  4. We have a thread on coaches on the hot seat, well what about those coaches whose names are going to be mentioned for the job openings. Who are those coaches that will be sought after as these jobs become open? Who are the HOT coaches out there? I am from Middle / Eastern Tn here are a few names; 1) Chad Smith - South Doyle 2) Lyn Allen - Central 3) Kevin Bray - Cookeville 4) Doug Keil - Warren County 5) Kevin Thomas - Shelbyville
  5. Logan Johnson of South Doyle
  6. Chad Smith @ South Doyle, does more with less and has completely turned around a doormat program.
  7. West @ South Doyle has been postponed, no makeup announced.
  8. Red Rage I think you are right on with your observations, but the guy at South Doyle, Chad Smith, is proably one of the best young coaches in the area. He has gained the respect of his peers b/c they know the situation that he is in and his players play so hard for him, that is true b/c all you have to do is go and see them play. They have no upperclass talent, some above average freshman and sophomores and yet they are a tough out in the best district in the state - 4AAA. I believe that he will not stay at South Doyle long and that he will get mention for some of the big jobs that are about to be open. Also everyone needs to remember it is easier to coach when you have players and athletes. Just remember that about Fulton, AE, and Bearden. Farragut should be in this class - BUT!
  9. Who have they scrimmaged and how did they do? Who else do they scrimmage before the start of the season? Is there a jamboree for Distrioct 5AAA teams or anything like that? I just want to get a sneak peek of them? I heard they are going to be really good this year? Any word
  10. I do like the new coach at Heritage but I think that KNOKNO is correct that it will take several years for Coach Rimes to turn Heritage around. I believe that thsi year KNOKNO is correct that they will be near the bottom of the league.
  11. How will McMinn COunty be in basketball this year? I know that they have 1 above average player, but are they weak besides that or are they expecting a great season.
  12. So what is their personnel like? I know that they open the season with a Hall of Fame game against South Doyle. Should this be a good game or will one team dominate the other?
  13. Is the Overton job open or are they going to let Coach Fuller stay? If it does open will they do a search or will the candidate be in house?
