  1. i would like to voice my large disagreement with this statement because i was once a passing qb and loved to throw in the conditions that goopasture played cpa last. it completely benefits the passing offense. keep in mind the field was muddy, it was not that the field was soaking wet. so the qb was throwing a dry football and has no effect on how he throws from the gun. the reciever knows the routes and thus can antisipate how they will run their routes while the db's from goodpasture had no clue what was going to happen and found themselves coming out of their breaks very slowly to be able to cover recievers in order not to fall. i am not here to rag on cpa (and i believe they are a very good team), but the last time we played them they had the most perfect field conditions they could ask for to beat us. unless those exact conditions present themselves again i don't see this one being as exciting at the end as most would hope.
  2. From a Goodpasture fan region 6-2a i apologize for the way that this thread started and can once again vouch for the fact that no true cpa or goodpasture fan would act with such little class. i would like to congragulate you guys on another great season of football and wish the best of luck to you in the offseason as we look forward to seeing you all again next year. as for the rematch of cpa and goodpasture. i want cpa to understand that i believe that they are a good team and i know that they can pass the ball very effeciently. i also understand that in years past goodpasture has beaten/played close with lipscomb in the regular season on to have it handed to them in the playoffs due to their coaches making the proper adjustments to stop what we have. that being said, i don't see cpa being able to do it this year. everyone keeps talking about a dry field, and i want everyone to understand the importance of a dry field for goodpasture and not think that it is just an excuse. a dry field means that shifty backs will be able to make cuts (i don't believe, may be wrong, but i don't believe cpa has a speedy, shifty back. a dry field means that fish, lance, and groves get a chance to really pin their ears back and get a good rush on the passer (because even with just those three coming and dropping eight we can still get to the quaterback). a dry field means that our db's have a chance to come out of their breaks and make plays on balls that they couldn't because they fell and slipped in the mud (it is much easier for someone like a reciever who knows what they are fixing to do to run in the mud than it is for a corner to make quick reactions in it) now with all of that - CPA is still going to be able to pass the ball and i dare say they cross the 300 yard marker through the air on us, but with goodpastures ability to score at will ( i saw to scoring plays last night that martin must have invented during the week because i have never seen them before and we utilized people that wouldn't normally be thought of running those plays - meaning caught the opposing team by suprise) i believe GP pulls away at the end of the third quater making the final score: Goodpasture: 49 CPA: 21 best of luck to both teams, have a good week of practice, and everyone be ready for a good clean highschool football game in Madison on Friday
  3. from a goodpasture fan, i would say that chris donald is the best linebacker we have seen this year and last and the kid from alcoa (bart hicks i guess is who i am talking about) was just about as good
  4. as a matter of fact, i believe that all goodpasture fans should just go ahead and quit posting on here. we might as well wait until saturday morning when we can get on here and congragulate cpa on their victory and discuss how we think a second meeting of the season will go. at least in that thread we can have civilized conversation with people and not be called rich pricks that recruit and drive mercedes because if your like me then your not rich, you drive a ford, and you weren't recruited to goodpasture but went there on your own. oh yeah - goodpasture by five scores
  5. after seeing film for both, speed has no comparison - only alcoa can run with goodpasture - as for size the nod goes to lewis county, they have quite a large line and that will work for their benefit but hey, the bigger they are the harder they fall
  6. you can believe that David Martin will have things off of this posted on the wall in the fieldhouse. he's done it before mostly for big games but i guess he can put one up for a game as miniscule as this it has to actually be believable for someone to make such predictions, that is why you have never posted such scores on here and why people are posting goodpastures victory by as much as they have -I'll say it again, goodpasture by five scores
  7. thats actually pretty funny - goodpasture by five scores
  8. have your own opinions, but don't call are schools stupid because we never said that yours were!
  9. number 24 is a sophomore and his name is benjamin (bennie) cunningham, and though he probably is one of the fastest sophomores i have ever seen i would have to say it's more of the mid 4.4s range
  10. upset pick of the week says that milan gets beat, and if they don't and they make it to the fourth round i know a middle tennesse team that says no way they make it to the buro
  11. yeah they do, stroud can throw the ball and even with the number one reciever for the past two years (beavers) out, darnell and cripps are good recievers. they find themselves in very much the situation west virginia was in before they played louisville. everyone said that WV had no passing offense, but when you can put up 40 points a game on the ground then why bother throwing it?
  12. might only have gotten 12, but i'm holding on to all of my second round winners - let's see if they can pull it out
  13. in the past six years goodpasture has been held to less than 21 points 12 times i believe, with the majority of them coming to david lipscomb (i believe 5 of them - remember in the past years goopasture and lipscomb met twice a year), the other teams BGA, CPA, Brentwood Academy, and Alcoa - arguably 5 of the top 10 teams overall in the past six years and for sure in middle tennessee, so to say that lewis county is going to stop the offense of goodpasture might be the silliest thing posted all year
  14. last night for the first time in the past however many years of watching a david martin team take a decisive lead into the locker room, martin came out and played nothing but jv. usually he allows the starters to play the first series of the second half even though they came out after they went up 35-0. the purpose of letting them play the first series has always been to make sure that the tempo stays high for the jv players when they hit the field. but suprisingly, and i am proud of martin for doing so, he sat his starters from 35-0 to the end of the ball game. so really adamsville beat the goodpasture jv 18-14, but cards fans were right - they had a hard nosed team that didn't give up and i wish them the best in years to come!
  15. appreciate it there dynasty, thought that was the case, just wanting to make sure
  16. goodpasture at home again for the second round - i've got em by 5 scores

  18. great game last night by both squads, good atmosphere and fun to be at. a little dissapointing that the true speed game of goopasture didn't get to get loose because of the field conditions ( cunningham, mayes ). with them having a chance to cut on a dry field i believe it's played very differently and we should get that chance in about three weeks. but good luck to both and hope that we see each other down the road for another great highschool football game.
  19. calm down now, don't get mad before you even know what your talking about - lets match trophies for trophies and then see if you talk as much smack - maybe if you knew your facts then you would realize that the east is currently earing our respect! sorry but your wrong
  20. ok now, just because you win last years championship doesn't make you the best the next year. new players and a new coach at alcoa - i wouldn't call them the best until they beat everyone and prove it, then call them the best - as for now comment on who you think will win this game like the post says
  21. way to be 2 for 2 on state championship games, but wouldn't you rather finish second 50th or something like that. seriously that is not a very smart comment to make. you have to get there to win it and you can't even get there.
  22. IF CPA wins, it's not because they scored a lot (because Golden Tate has proved to be the only human that can score on them), but because they stopped one of the best rushing attacks in state ( and i don't see that happening) but good luck to both fine schools Goodpasture 35 CPA 10
  23. well congrats Bigboy on your being able to beat goodpasture, but shouldn't that put you on our side of the fence. i mean the argument here is that no public school can beat goodpasture in 2A because they "recruit". but you and i both know that alcoa is a public school and in the past two years you have beaten both lipscomb and goodpasture in route to winning back to back championships. so shouldn't you also be telling people to get over it and JUST BE GOOD ENOUGH to beat the boys from goodpasture?
  24. i sure would like to know where you went to school that you beat goodpasture so bad because if it wasn't at CPA or Alcoa then i hate to burst your bubble but you didn't beat them badly. you probably didn't beat them at all but it just sounded good for your argument. and yes goodpasture can be beat by 2A teams because Alcoa thumped them last year. so since other 2A teams can beat goodpasture, i'd like to see milan do it because that was mentioned earlier (P.S. there is no way that is happening).
  25. all of you that thinks that goodpasture recruits players are just trying to figure out a reason as to why your kid isn't getting one of these "so called scholarships". get real, the majority of all goodpasture student athletes have been at that school since at least the fifth grade. the main reason for this is because they live in metro davidson county and their parents realize that after they leave their small elementary schools they will be bussed to some other school where their kid probably isn't in a situation that he needs to be. lets face it, no one in metro is complaining about goodpasture because if they felt the need to get themselves in a better situation they would do so (tuition at Goodpasture is just above 5000 and with the necessary sacrifices that can be easily met within a year), people that do the complaining just simply do not have the oppurtunities that the families in large cities have. no offense (and i mean that seriously) but their isn't a way for a camden kid or a milan kid to enter a private school just because there isn't one around and that is unfortunate. i understand that because there aren't private schools in such areas that they care about their public schools a little more than in METRO where the schools really just don't give a student a chance in COLLEGE for ACADEMICS because they simply aren't very academically strong. so pardon the parents of students that actually care about their lives and want to give them the best Christian environment to learn and the best chance to make it in college. and for an added tid bit about the scholarship situation. i think that most would agree that the biggest name to come through goodpasture was patrick turner, and those that followed him closely would remember that in his senior year he wasn't allowed to practice for about a week nor play in a jamboree. this would be do to the fact that his tuition wasn't up to date and needed to be payed. so how if his tuition was taken care of by a scholarship could he possibly have gotten behind on his payments? chew that up
